-- a good afternoon from Algiers Louisiana across the street from New Orleans where they're getting ready.

Not for a Hurricane Katrina not eating anything close to -- Hurricane Katrina but nonetheless -- hurricane is on the way and if the forecasters are right.

The hurricane is going directly into the city of New Orleans that would be branded.

That did not happen with Katrina.

Katrina miss New Orleans by seventy miles Katrina went way to the east of here in fact it was a hundred miles from here where it actually did most of the devastation.

That storm hit Mississippi and it was a category three it did not hit New Orleans -- Orleans was on the good side of Katrina.

The problem with this storm is New Orleans is -- -- -- where they believe this storm is going.

Right now it's a tropical storm though the forecasters expect it will get stronger and we'll get into the reasons for that a little while.

And they're worried about people in low lying areas for sure they've evacuated some low lying areas in plaque in his -- here to the south of us.

They evacuated some areas of saint Bernard parish but the city of New Orleans will not be evacuated.

No mandatory evacuations in fact even if they wanted to three hours from now they wouldn't physically be able to do so.

They believe they've made changes which will make this area as safe is it can be.

That's it a lot of rain is on the way -- split expect some severe flooding in many areas.

In an area that's been economically devastated his -- still trying to recover from what happened before.

But the worst of this even if it does hit on New Orleans will not be about the wind according to forecasters.

It'll be about the regime and the storm surge and the worst of it may yet again be to the east.

On the coast of the state of Mississippi.
