ER but right now we're coming -- live from Tampa Florida where the Republican National Convention officially kicked off today and tonight.

We have an all star lineup of -- RNC chair -- previous former Mississippi governor Haley Barbour Arizona governor Jan burger Wisconsin governor Scott Walker and Donald Trump -- hear from them all but first.

The -- -- introduce governor Mitt Romney on Thursday night borders and our Marco Rubio join his good evening serve for the evening.

I'm -- -- get to the big news about about Thursday night I thought you might want to have a.

-- the -- yeah I mean it has served as racist state but nonetheless it's first Ross is unbelievable on the seventh anniversary of Katrina we're seeing such a repeat -- hopefully the storm won't be anything as close to that and I'm confident the folks up there have done everything they can over the last seven years to improve their capacity.

In a Florida's been battered by storms in the past one year we have five.

And -- out because in 2005 so we know what how.

Impact -- this -- be we pray for those folks and we just hope for the best and they will see what happens what we have it we have the sell off -- -- trying to do both stories at once and and kind of fear you know how to bounce our time.

So let me and turn to the other -- we're trying to cover and there's an ID ready.

Yeah yeah I think it's an exciting moment for our country the next three days are going to be exciting obviously the storm is something we're all concerned about and we'll watch that very carefully -- and -- that's the first priority is alive and well being of people that are in the way.

But we're also having an election in November and we want to talk about what that choices and that's what Thursday night's going to be about for me as.

Making clear two things number one is that the man I'm presenting the next president of the United States Mitt Romney is an extraordinary person.

And in his job as a father and as a husband and as a grandfather as a leader and his church and its community what he did in the Olympics when he did as governor.

Is a successful person not just a successful political.

How do you do you persuade the Hispanic vote not to secure in America but Hispanics and other section that candidate is -- country because that that is spinning -- -- -- Did historic clearly is -- -- to the democratic vote.

And that they mean that's a boat that did governor Romney love to have but you know that.

-- -- the heart of what the selections about the selection is that when many ways is a decision about what government's role should be in our economy and house prosperity created.

The president thinks prosperity created when the government goes out and spends money we've tried that for three and a half years.

It failed it's been tried before this is an old idea it's failed every time it's been tried.

In fact it's one of the ideas of people come here to get away from on the other hand Mitt Romney's belief is that -- prosperity is created when people have the confidence to invest their money.

-- be when he believes but the but right now Hispanics think that they have the DREAM Act with President Obama -- executive order.

And it it may be that you know you get it if you're so convinced and governor Romney so convinced that there is a better way to -- -- actually -- -- penetrate them because.

-- that's the immigration issue that's an important issue and it matters a lot and certainly when you talk about immigration to Americans of Hispanic -- it's not some theoretical statistical issue they know people were being impacted by this.

But they're also real economic issues at play here I mean you look at the unemployment rate in the Hispanic community it is significantly higher -- the general population.

This -- community is as entrepreneurial as any community in this country an entrepreneur -- the starting of -- of your own business has become harder under this president.

You know when a president's running for reelection they usually bragging about how much better things are than they were four years ago.

This president was -- -- talk about his record he wants to attack Mitt Romney wants that you saw the start this interview he did two days ago which is just an unbelievable.

You know a negative assault on on Mitt Romney as opposed to bragging about his own record and his accomplishments.

I think that's going to be very clear this week and I think that's gonna give all Americans have -- you just a tad bit nervous.

You know I don't know about nervous is the right word certainly I want to do a good job and that means it's an honor to be picked -- to do it in my home state in front of so many friends and supporters is obviously great but.

At the end of the match is not about me it's about Mitt Romney and about the opportunity to present for our country a man -- -- elected president for really changed the direction of this country in a positive way.

What about the constant all right what do what do you want they think is important for him to get across on what I was.

I hope people get to know Paul Ryan the -- I've gotten to -- in the last year and a half when he supported me when I ran in and working with him in congress a little bit.

He's an exciting person he's an exciting figure but he is also an idea this person and I think I hope that comes across -- -- and I believe that it will.

Because I think when people get to know Paul Ryan just in the 152030 minutes are gonna have -- them on Wednesday night.

They're going to be even more excited about him as our vice president and and it's and -- the second name on the ticket and to win Florida.

What's -- -- in Florida flooding Florida's very much like the rest of the country I -- people are concerned about the future they're concerned about the economy you know you look at you meet people every day that.

We're supposed to be retiring now on had to go out and find a job -- People that thought these were going to be the prime earning years and instead they got laid off for kids -- just finished college but can't find a job in the field this study for.

These are the people we're going to be talking to in this convention because it is for them that the free enterprise system is so important.

Medicare is that it is and that's and that's an important cross country but -- particular vote here and it's just important it's very important -- three million people in Florida on Medicare one of them is my mom.

And I can tell you anyone who's in favor of leaving Medicare the way it is right now is in favor bankrupting it.

Medicare we need to save Medicare and Paul Ryan Mitt Romney have a plan to do it and the way they would do it does not change Medicare at all for people that are on Medicare today.

But says the people on my generation Paul Ryan's generation -- Medicare is gonna look different got something you should be willing to do.

In exchange for keeping our parents and our grandparents Medicare the way it is after it and they've done for us that's the least we can do.

And I say this about governor Romney -- and -- -- -- but isn't there a small part of you hopes that you fifth grade teachers watching your kids who went ice though with.

Yeah way to see what do you assume you're doing and -- really fun as -- value out of say -- I can make it anybody this.

-- -- intended as they went over your speech at our did you write this yourself.

-- know I write my own stuff always have been -- actually very rarely write speeches all right an outline of notes of things I wanna say so I rarely rarely read from a prepared text so.

A few months ago I had a speech truck forgot the last page Arafat hasn't happened and dated on and then have a semi got that did they -- -- about fifteen minutes.

-- -- Now some do it -- senator good luck that that we're gonna watch can't think they're basically watching who got me to put pressure on you nodded his lap fresher -- have a great family says thank you thank you and tomorrow.
