Reaction pouring in -- and -- -- emotional speech at the Republican Convention last night she had a big job ahead ever.
Trying to appeal to women voters by showcasing the Mitt Romney she knows.
Describing any successful compassionate man who's also been a devoted husband and father.
He even found time to hit on the we built -- -- Nicholas of.
May be the first to tell -- is the most fortunate man in the world he had to loving parents who gave strong values and -- and the value work.
He had the chance to get the education his father never had.
But as his partner on this amazing journey.
I can tell you Mitt Romney was not handed success.
He -- dad's.
Joining us now is Juan Williams a Fox News -- political out analyst you took some heat from.
-- and none of them the team last night because of your reaction to this speech.
-- may be changed your view at all overnight.
Now -- I mean I think that -- my criticism was.
Aimed at the economics of the reality of the economics and the blessings that the Romney is that -- I think that.
They're not average Americans in terms of their wealth by -- by any stretch of the imagination.
But you know the criticism some people seem to think it was -- mrs.
Romney and that's just wrong headed -- I think she's a great mom great wife now she's a great.
Not only -- grand mom.
And I got to tell you you know as the cancer survivor knows and -- one.
She's had struggles in terms of that health issue.
So no it was it this with intended as an analysis of the speech and I think in the economic ground.
Maybe from my mind it was intended to appeal to American women where they hope Romney campaign has the deficit right now.
And it would have been smarter in my mind if he had been able to say we know we're blessed.
But let me tell you how much we are.
Doing for others how -- we can be I like the part of her speech I like the best.
With what he said please listen.
I -- -- pay attention Mitt doesn't like to talk about all that he's done for others.
But I'm gonna tell you that he's a very generous man that made sense to me because Americans know.
That the Romney's are extraordinarily.
Rich people and I don't think you can say -- we've had struggles like everybody else because people think I don't know that that's real.
Well but but she didn't make the point that you know when they started out -- is that what they were living in a basement apartment and and and he was getting a couple of graduate degrees I mean there were working hard.
And not necessarily mean they weren't living on a 250 million dollar fortune at that point.
Number John listen here's the reality I think -- -- we can agree on this.
He's the son of a very wealthy man George Romney who was the governor of Michigan.
And when she married Mitt Romney Mitt Romney was getting double degree in business and law from Harvard University.
That's pretty much are ready in the elite Jon and young couples moving into a basement apartment don't necessarily have.
That kind of economic.
Backstop and support that the -- -- we're blessed to have I don't begrudge them that I'm just think if you're speaking to me and saying.
You -- don't think that my husband has some hard nosed businessman who doesn't understand what's going on with other people.
Don't say to me that the you're economics are my economics I just don't think that's real.
I guess one of the questions I have is whether the speech reached a single women.
Republicans do better among married women and obviously mrs.
Romney is married but what did she say.
To appeal to single women who are out there struggling in this economy.
Yeah I mean that's the I think that's part of -- -- economic analysis of that speech which is.
If you look at the polls right now.
-- Barack Obama leads among single women from like seventy to thirty.
But if you look at married women it's a split would actually Romney having a slight advantage.
And -- the speech last night was really intended to say to those women married and single.
Don't think that Mitt Romney is out of touch with what's going on in your life or doesn't understand or have compassion.
And that's where I think you know from from my money is the politically and if that's where I didn't see it.
That's not an approach I would have taken this talk about my -- But our families had -- like -- -- I would think you know what we're blessed we are so fortunate and I want those blessings for other people.
And met my husband is the kind of guy that can deliver solve problems and he has been compassionate.
And caring and our lives I've seen it I've seen what he's done for others.
-- Juan Williams Fox News political analyst.
