I've come here to Cairo to seek a new beginning.

Between the United States and Muslims around the world.

One based on mutual interest and mutual respect.

And one based upon the truth that America and Islam are not exclusive.

And need not be in competition.

Instead they overlap.

And share common principles.

Principles of justice.

And progress.

Tolerance.

And the dignity of all human beings.

Justice progress tolerance that was the president speaking in Cairo six months more -- lesson to his administration.

This is before Egypt's revolution and political transformation that's still happening in our time.

Once it Egypt was our strongest Arab ally.

In the Middle East -- some questions about our relationship the newly elected president of Egypt Mohamed -- a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.

It making a historic trip to -- Iran this week and we wanted to know he's.

His visit is meant marking the first time for an Egyptian head of state.

Since 1979.

To actually go there and this is happening as reports came out indicating Iran is closer to nuclear weapon.

And here at home -- we expect to hear more about the GOP's foreign policy views tonight from one of the big speakers.

Former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice.

Joining us now ambassador John Bolton informal advisor we should mention.

To governor Romney so ambassador it just broadly speaking what were so focused at the convention here at home in some domestic issues.

Know what's happening overseas when it comes to Iran.

Well I think Iran is demonstrating this week that they administration's effort to isolated internationally failed their hosting a meeting of the nonaligned movement it's about a 120 countries.

At the UN something like forty heads of state as you mentioned the new president of Egypt.

Ban -- moon the UN Secretary General I think made -- bad -- he's there as well.

So they're showing off that they're not isolated internationally we're expecting a new report from the international atomic energy agency that -- show there.

Still making progress on.

It nuclear weapons program so they're running threat remains very grave.

Interesting to have Condoleezza Rice speaks tonight secretary of state under the Bush Administration.

One of the things -- that happened when she was in office.

-- North Korea gaining -- nuclear weapon.

And north -- did this despite sanctions put in place and despite talk so we've seen this play out under -- Republican administration.

And what looks like it's playing out under a Democrat administrations have talked to -- viewers directly ambassador since we've seen both parties.

Follow a similar pattern what should -- be demanding of our next leader when it comes to foreign policy with a nation like Iran.

Well unfortunately I think we CN administrations Republican and democratic alike that sanctions that are not applied comprehensively.

And forced.

Vigorously fail and that they rogue states the states that seek to have nuclear weapons are able to -- Continue to make progress.

Neither Iran nor North Korea -- my view was ever serious about negotiation there was never -- chance.

They get either one of them chit chatted out of their nuclear weapons programs and unfortunately.

But we're paying the price now we've seen.

North Korea tests its second nuclear weapon three years ago lot of speculation they're gonna move on to a third test.

Testing ballistic missiles as they have done with -- Iran and cooperation and what the -- throwing ever closer to itself getting.

Nuclear weapons capability so I think we're at a very.

Dangerous point international -- the symbol of Iran getting nuclear weapons were only inspire others in the region Saudi Arabia Egypt Turkey to do the same.

Leading to a much more dangerous Middle East.

I'm very -- we have so many more questions about.

What the direction of Egypt is what that means for Israel and fortunately we're at a time right now ambassador it's always nice have your perspective and look for having -- back as always thank you.
