He has spent plenty of time in the White House Jeb Bush has been the some of the president is the son of -- president and the brother of the president.

Many people think one day he may make his own run.

I talked with the former Florida governor last night we started as the band was practicing for today.

But I asked him about the man just voted the Republican party's nominee Mitt Romney.

I started the interview by asking him what needs to happen at this convention.

-- a great speech by -- Romney was on the stage for the balls campaign rural not just about how the president is filled -- he has an economic policies for sure -- So what.

Romney right.

Proposals are a way that people can relate to he'll govern you talk down about reaching out to Latinos many times.

Do you think your party is doing an okay job at that.

-- it's about -- it's -- to be honest with you in the heat of -- campaign -- that moment.

Really the job of the party -- have bills.

Not be an objective a high priority we'll learn more election years really.

And elected officials -- the -- and thankfully the Republican Party has been the party that has selected.

The people like Brian Sandoval Susanna Martinez and Marco Rubio -- This ball you can talk over the weekend about.

The president's efforts to -- Made.

Toward toward your brother and blame him okay Washington Post ABC had a bowl -- all -- ask people about the economy and you.

-- they still thought it was time to.

Have you heard that message every day of the White House probably be in the believe it -- the second point is.

The president.

I don't suggesting that he wasn't coming in.

Where people -- -- -- -- -- Police say look it's not my whole -- I -- no no ability to deal with them.

And -- a strong -- should know about nuclear.

-- is there -- vulnerability there that the Romney Brian tickets is going to really hit on as far as entitlement reform and tax reform absolutely.

Absolutely I think this the selection of Paul Ryan's a leading indicator that this is going to be an election about big things the president would love nothing more to have it be about small.

Things that are on the margins I think governor Romney wins and he may win with a with a better than expected margin -- he talks about big things that people no need to get.

Critics education.

You're slated to speak about education still speaking about education and -- -- -- -- so.

If it's an issue that is so important and it doesn't get a lot of coverage.

-- about that.

Well because I think people correctly view education.

Policy being made at the local and state level that -- president can be a partner with reformers the governors and and others that the state and local level.

-- automatically assume this is a federal program that will fix our schools.

But it is something that I think needs to be of national purpose -- needs to be a national priority.

Implemented at the local level.

And this is -- the governor Romney has an advantage over the president.

He didn't in terms of his understanding of that and being a good partner since he was a governor.

When I go around the country that and the biggest thing -- -- is why can't Washington worked together.

You know they took -- So and we will so he's they're going to be a time when it gets.

-- drama this partisan time than we've seen as something of -- let's get something done.

Well if you look at Mitt Romney's wife experiences it's it's been all about solving problems.

Getting from point a to point B.

In the most efficient way in a way that improves whatever it is that he's working on.

And I think as president I would expect him to find ways creative ways to reach across the -- and not just -- Making debating points not just traveling the country doing speeches.

Attacking.

Opponents -- trying to find common ground.

That's that's who he's been done as governor and as a private sector leader and how we ran the Olympics and I fire I would expect that to be the case if he's -- -- president.

The president has had two chances to prove this.

One was after historic election right where he won because it was supposed to be about hope and change and differ from a different approach and he -- -- from the get go.

Did the stimulus -- -- health care bill and he I think poison the well and then secondly after the shellacking of 2010.

Get another chance to to do what Bill Clinton did in 1995 which was.

-- -- recast the order of things again and he didn't he doubled down on this hard edge ideological approach.

And so he's abandoned the chance to lead and I think Mitt Romney can offer leadership that America desperately needs.

You're clearly a major surrogate for the -- Ryan ticket they -- and I know what I enjoy having you I'm about to speak on their behalf from what I hear.

When you look down on that podium isn't just a little bit of you thought it says.

I wish I was given that speech on Thursday.

Not at all just a little I'm completely comfortable with the life I have.

My wife and I are.

Living large in in our beloved Miami and I'm I'm working on the things that are important to me I have but I have a blessed life.

Governor thank you -- tell -- it's on thanks enjoy Tampa.
