This is -- -- thank you so much for your time today I have to ask you about your speech a lot of preparation I'm sure anticipation as well how did it feel.
To get out there and give a speech on the stage in his -- -- pink I essentially playing it.
I wasn't nervous it's very excited to give it I felt very strongly that the message and -- -- again and reaching out to women.
You know I just.
I felt great that's really fun.
And you had such an important role really rolling -- a different side of Mitt Romney the candidate some people could understand him -- as a person.
Did you capital -- a privilege a big responsibility in the allegedly you know.
I've been doing it for a long time and -- it didn't really feel like -- that different because that's sort of been my role on line.
But I was just glad it uses a larger audience to hear that so for me.
I think some of the messages I said last night.
-- this is a guy you contrast.
This is -- got to go get the job done this is a guy that will not fail.
And I really mean that and I I've seen him in everything -- sentence life.
Tackle things that are seen.
Impossible to -- And even know the troubles we face in this nation are very serious.
-- trust that he is the one person that can fix them.
Just talk about the speech afterwards what happened after he came -- states that was really fun we went.
Minute Chris surprised me -- -- coming on station and we went and back to the box and so my -- -- hours.
Actually crying quite hard way just like a little -- they were one was actually stopping and my voice I had a tear in their -- and you know I think they were moved by the speech I think they were also so proud.
-- so that was wonderful but then we went home.
A lot of my grandchildren where where there and not the real little ones that most of the grandchildren -- the speech.
And I was in my hotel room and the door opened and about fifteen of these little kids still warm to the door.
Tackled me threw me on the ground jumping all over me hiding me.
Laugh mean they just I mean they they were so cute I mean -- -- just -- That was quite agree I got in in the -- -- and one by one in just hunt and hunt and hike in just so proud of me and they are still my boys were still much now by the time since then.
You know quite awhile after -- we sat through -- -- address -- and my voice is still quite emotional.
This it was a great night -- that kind of thing that gives you energy to keep going out there in the coupons and a absolutely.
You know that the fact it.
They believe in us that they aren't there for us that they're such great role models.
For others as well.
I'm so proud of them.
I'm so proud of the fact that they're good husbands and good dads themselves and now there's nothing more than one -- sees her child happy.
And my boys are well you know Mary beautiful girls and -- attacking churches in.
You know it's just it's it's very how is it to raise my boys.
It was an easy it really wasn't meeting I I felt like the Lone Ranger most of the time.
There their father.
Participate participated in the shenanigans.
And actually instigated most of it so it was like he was -- -- -- -- life.
Made it he just.
You know for me and I was always calm down a little quiet now and he'd come in and just.
It would just go crazy and it just energy -- the -- and even now I mean when we're all together there's nothing we have more.
But there's a lot of this together there's about thirty and it's.
Because you know we've got the ten adult children and an eighteen grandchildren and it myself so that's quite a lot of people.
And doesn't matter how can act -- it is how noisy it is.
-- is like loving every second and then after awhile I can take so much -- -- have to go find quiet quarter.
That he he knew.
If they -- give and take and that -- train and that.
That you know the pranks or mischief this is that they drank -- get involved with he just he just wants it sounds good preparation for being on the campaign trail to some extent.
-- -- I think you know for me having had this great blessing of racing all boys.
-- -- -- a -- to be resilient and flexible.
Also taught me to really appreciate where those boys were coming from.
And to learn to share your feelings and to really put things on the table is -- I have changed they've changed me in it in a good way.
Where I'm much more open with my feelings which are honest.
With what's going now on -- Much easier to serve walk away and and forgive him because.
They would blow up you know and it's over.
And it's a great test -- and then it's.
And that was an interesting thing for me to watch through the years and see how these boys.
Are able to do that I've -- -- live racing.
Ask you about something you said in your speech last night you talked about the fact that your husband's been attacked for being successful.
I think about an out of the last few weeks and I don't know if you've seen it or not.
From an outside third party group that implies that connection between his work at being a man who lost his job and then lost his wife to cancer.
Outside third party fact checking groups have decried it they called it dishonest deceitful even a number of Democrats have come forward and use words like outrageous.
As a white how do you react to ads like that well.
You know clearly those are outrageous.
Talking about a woman's life and -- somehow my husband's constant -- -- mean.
It's this whole.
That is outrageous and you know those things are setting.
It's it's what we're dealing with right now expect more than actually.
What do you think about the tone the campaign moving forward you don't think it's gonna get better do you think it'll get tougher part of them are I don't think it's communities here helping those.
Those kinds of charges in the end.
But this is why I love the opportunity last night had a chance to speak.
Because people need to focus on the real issues issues -- Economics.
About huge liabilities that we're leaving our children mortgaging their future.
It's about good jobs.
It's about opportunity for their children and their grandchildren and the choice is very clear we want a strong economy.
And a resurgence -- economic growth in this country I think there's only one person it's going to be able to do that.
And I'm convinced.
I've seen him do it time and time again.
And he will work tirelessly.
To make sure.
You have more economic prosperity more jobs look at -- the kids are coming up country ham became kind of time.
This is a real problem there are pure -- real stories we're hearing care I've been out there now for a year and a half.
And these people honor.
I'm speaking to these women these man.
-- just college kids that are showing up at her -- -- the IR.
Sleeping with myself and my husband -- please help us.
And you know.
It's it's quite astonishing to go out there and cents.
You can have feeling it's -- yeah I'm intuitive and so as a woman I just feel like an especially intuitive.
That you get the sense that there's something just rhyme out there and that people are really worried they're really.
Anxious for change.
They need someone to give them solutions and answers that they know.
If they keep working -- it's gonna get better.
And right now I think if they think they just keep working -- that's all they're gonna hand is just have to keep working harder to just tread water to just keep your your your head above water.
And do you want that for their kids they want their kids do you have good jobs these kids are being.
Underemployed or unemployed right now that are coming out of college.
When it comes to tough issues like employment taxes.
Even abortion last week or so there's been a lot of discussion about some of these things.
Do you help your husband you advice indeed discuss I would imagine as any political Kabul they're gonna discuss these controversial issues -- -- I think about abortion specifically help him think about ways to to bridge the conversation or navigate even on an issue like this where.
The GOP even within the party has -- nuances and differences on something like that well.
United I can't help myself prayer I I -- equipment he's getting advice for everybody.
You know he's used even getting it from me that really with policy I ice I stay clear.
The way I I try to help and it's maybe.
Approaching it are saying it in a different way or something like that.
But he's very clear and on the issues he's very clear where he stands.
Time and and when I was being interviewed nice I don't know I don't -- policy he was laughing sitting next to -- 90 really.
There's -- big.
-- of ice.
And so you he would -- he gets a lice a lot of advice from a lot of different people.
And -- we try to keep a sense of humor about this too because there's almost -- person.
And every person running -- has advice.
That we've ever known.
Ever seen -- not -- -- every round.
Total strangers are always trying to help us and it's it's nice -- because she recognized that everyone out there is trying to help.
And they don't know -- and they want to just help.
-- so we appreciate that.
But you know it gets.
It gets overwhelming at times you -- -- you allowed yourself to think ahead.
Two if you do end up in the White House to to view what kind of First Lady that you wanna be what -- you -- well I I do look ahead.
And this is the future that icy icy Mitt winning and I see America get -- better.
And beyond that I don't think too much about my role I certainly know where my passions have led me in my life before and I'm imagining they'll leave me in the same way.
I care about children I care about disadvantaged kids I care about kids always having.
Their full potential match and -- so many kids in this nation that aren't there they're really really losing a lot in their lives right now.
I care about breast cancer research I care about multiple sclerosis research.
So all of those things I've been working on for that for you know for years myself on a personal level.
I'm sure I will carry forward.
But the thing that I care about most is making sure that -- is there.
Because he's the one that's gonna make a difference in millions of people supplied millions of lives he's going to be -- to make sure that college kids that are coming out of college will have a job.
He's going to be there to make sure that people that are underemployed are gonna get better employment.
And you know IIIA.
Really sense that this is a great opportunity for America to get it right.
And to get back on track and have a more prosperous brighter future.
