We need to reform our outdated and complicated tax code.

We -- are burdensome regulatory system.

And we need an energy policy that encourages the development of our resources right here in the ground in America.

Am.

America has a choice.

Between Mitt Romney who seeks to grow the economy.

And Barack Obama who seeks to redistribute it.

Which one do you think -- liberate America's entrepreneurial spirit.

Well that was of course Ohio senator Rob Portman speaking tonight here in Tampa and now sent Portman goes on recognizes -- -- and I got a good ability again.

-- different speaking tonight was fun.

Why.

Yeah you know what's fun because we're talking about the future.

And the opportunities of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan get elected to actually take this country in the right direction.

And so I did talk about tax reform regulatory relief energy policy also talked about trade we can expand exports -- can grow more jobs here.

So I think our best days can be ahead of us but we need new leadership we need new policies.

And was -- to talk about that.

Did you get your.

President became president jab -- president Romney but you don't win the United States senate.

Do you still get that -- that Romney agenda.

It makes it harder no question about it effect for some things in the -- he needs sixty votes which is unlikely.

But I think we could get to 51 based on the races around the country right now we have 47 Republicans now it means you know net for Republicans and if we can get there.

If we can we can do some amazing things including.

Passing a budget which we haven't done for three years in the United States senate while the nation.

Four trillion -- -- dead it's unbelievable.

Not pass a budget men and it is not your reporting that an assistant hey Reid doesn't like -- -- but -- what and I don't mean that you argue for him but now I don't.

Does he justify at least kept putting something on the table to at least debate and and I don't.

I don't know -- tried to justified I think it's a political calculation budgets are hard things to vote for because include a lot of things that are difficult.

Paul Ryan's budget that did come to the house -- did pass of the house.

And the Republicans in the house did what they're supposed to do their constitutional duties after all congress has the power of the -- -- -- deal.

The ability to put forth a blueprint for the future which is what a budget supposed to be.

But in the senate nothing you know the the senate majority leaders decided not to move forward with it probably did protect his members the president does have to submit a budget by law and he did.

Unfortunately.

It was such a bad budget that no one would vote for he literally didn't get a single Republican -- -- single Democrat.

Neither the house or the senate to support his budget partly because it added another eleven trillion dollars to the national debt over the ten year period of the budget.

Folks -- willing to vote for so.

That's a lack of leadership we have now and exciting opportunity is collecting Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.

Trying to get to 51 for -- -- you know vice president providing the tie vote.

And really needing to change this country by getting a budget in place and -- through the budget you can also do other things to help with regard to tax reform.

Saving our entitlement programs.

And make sure that the economy gets back on track.

Title years it is very important state in this election -- both candidates it's -- -- -- -- Can President Obama and governor Romney how -- not a sense of how many -- -- -- But I assume that dad giving you get it work cut out -- -- this system you want them to make sure that their governor Romney takes your state.

But I do I'm sure in the campaign in Ohio.

I'm following it very close a lot of pressure and have a lot of pressure.

You know I'm going door to door myself I've gone to eleven of them are there tree -- call centers and make calls -- It's really after -- what's happening there's more energy and enthusiasm on our side this year.

That's good but we've also been pummeled by answers -- kind of -- carpet bombing of Mitt Romney in Ohio.

Come by Barack Obama's campaign and by the Democrats they've had more money to spend up to now.

And it's been almost all negative for the past few months it's been a constant barrage of negative ads many of which are misleading some of which are actually inaccurate.

Even put the same being cool does not -- the academy.

Yeah president's -- Well what I'm saying it is in 2008 I think folks look at the president said hey this is a guy who's got you know the right ideas -- us to bring people together to solve big problems.

You know he talked about the fact that.

It wasn't a red country or blue country where -- the country sort of seemed like he is again that was gonna.

Worked together with the congress to get things done that hasn't happened he is not shown the leadership Brothers -- budget.

Whether it was what he did on health care what he did a financial services what he did with the stimulus package jam this through on a partisan basis.

And we're seeing the results of it.

The president promised to fix the economy and it hasn't worked it's time to get someone else a chance Mitt Romney's got the experience he's got the record.

He actually worked with the Democrats in Massachusetts to get things done balance a budget cut taxes bring back jobs.

That's the American people I think are looking for and I think those undecided voters in Ohio by the way that they're more of them than most pollsters they acknowledge.

I think they're looking for some hope they're looking for somebody who's able.

To show the American people there is a better way and that's just conventions about and what the rest his campaign is about I hope.

Senate thank you very much nice to see said that -- -- quickly on the thank you thanks.

There.
