Auctioneers is America's election headquarters vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan using his convention speech.

To attack President Obama for his health care -- saying it's the greatest threat to the Medicare program.

And challenging his opponents to a debate on the issue.

A Romney Ryan administration will.

For my generation and from my kids and -- so our opponents can consider themselves on notice.

In this election.

On this issue.

The usual posturing on the left isn't going to work Mitt Romney and I know the difference between protecting a program and -- it.

Ladies and gentlemen our nation needs this debate but we want this debate we will win this debate.

But so what about that -- debate on Medicare and entitlements is on which side will win let's get into a fair and balanced discussion.

Kirsten Powers is a Daily Beast columnist and a Fox News contributor contributor.

Angela McGlowan is a Fox News political analyst so what about a -- and he was pretty direct and pretty blunt and take on the administration over things like Medicare.

It's something the Democrats have traditionally won on to the Republicans have the -- this time.

Well I think that remains to be seen it's a little bit of a convoluted.

Argument considering that.

Both Ryan and Obama proposed the same dollar amount of -- and -- the difference is that Obama's cuts aren't used to be funneled back into.

Medicare vs Ryan cuts -- actually she got there is they're basically so that they can support tax cuts so.

I think when when we get down to them that maybe the debates or somewhere where he's actually challenges on this it's going to be a little bit harder for him to make this argument.

-- Yeah he's.

He has not backed away I mean various.

Outlets have have pointed out that same thing -- that the Ryan budget also.

Proposed cuts in Medicare out of the answer that.

We're happy dance today -- -- he talks about the fact that think tax cuts would actually.

Help the economy instead of hard -- economy and the bottom line is this Obama did raid Medicare to help pay for obamacare which is not popular.

-- among the American people.

The next candidate actually brings the topic back to this scanner instead of -- -- people talking about divisive politics.

Talking about throwing granny off the -- speaking about -- -- hates women.

Now people can make -- clear choice where they can debating -- I disagree with you.

Once we have the debate the issue will be -- the forefront when he can't do this type of politics good vs bad I have an I have not.

We're gonna talk about policies they'll help create a better America and I'm not -- my comment.

But if I were betting on -- my money -- -- one Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan the -- step up solutions.

Not excuses.

-- -- that I think it will be hard -- -- for Democrats to come up with another you know Paul Ryan lookalike throwing granny off a cliff after he told that story about how they welcomed his own grandmother.

In to their home -- when she was.

Suffering some debilitating late life diseases.

I mean I love that ad is completely out of bounds and I don't like that throwing granny off the cliff.

Texas seven actually if I really appreciate that -- before I appreciate that Ryan is willing to.

Tackle a tough issue that's been treated us into the third rail nobody wants to talk about it so I definitely appreciate that and I hope and you have.

It's serious conversation about it I just -- they should be more straightforward about the fact that he is cutting Medicare and stopping -- stop pointing to while Obama cut Medicare.

At the -- You know it's like that's not the end -- it's not that many hair and and that money goes back in today into health care and he also is cutting it.

And it's not going back in the health care but I think that's a seven honest conversations stop trying to pretend like Barack Obama is the only one way to cut Medicare.

When where -- when he's not actually cutting Medicare now what Obama's saying in essence that he's cutting the fraud out of Medicare but you -- medical experts.

-- can't expect that went before congress instead if these cuts.

Would actually hurt Medicare and would not increase.

Benefits to the elderly actually -- All sell Obama's saying that Paul Ryan's plan -- the elderly today if you're 55 and older.

Paul Ryan's plan will not impact you now -- and it will impact that's.

But I want to have a choice still with about justice -- I -- dealing with tax credits and tax cuts.

Those monies go back into the economy obamacare with his mandates it's actually increasing taxes so let's have a debate about well and.

And then the Republican side has signaled that it is ready to have this debate you know it's again typically a democratic issue and and Paul Ryan says -- will bring it on and he thinks they're going to win.

I guess both of you are saying that it's a good discussion to have and a welcome discussion in this country right here and.

Yes.

I absolutely I think it's absolutely a -- -- the fashion I think for too long.

Both parties have tried says skirt the issue and his -- To older voters and so.

You know I just I hope that is just a more honest conversation and I think we've been having to -- I really don't feel like -- an honest conversation went.

Everybody just points the finger at Obama and acts like Paul Ryan doesn't want to cut Medicare when he does.

I don't even have a lot -- back then you know I don't nobody wants to cut Medicare.

The point is let's just talk about the fact that it's an unsustainable.

System and that people in my generation and have a generation are not gonna have benefits unless something is not that's the real kindly let me -- that.

About it but Obama would want to have promised that he won -- legislation behind closed doors and Nancy Pelosi said with obamacare won't know what did it after we pass it.

We needed discussion but not just about Medicare we needed discussion actually about the economy and about Harry Reid not passing a budget and call -- Can -- and Ryan again promised in his speech to opiate two repeal obamacare so we'll see voters are gonna have a clear choice next time around -- feel a little Allan Houston powers thank you bill.
