Welcome to Tampa and the Republican National Convention we -- we try something different this is a Twitter town hall.
And what we're doing is taking questions from view on Twitter and alongside me.
Presidential candidate former president to candidate Herman Cain businessman.
This is a first for me a Twitter town hall -- this is the first for me also I've done allowed to have holes where you get -- people out there.
But we went -- to try this because this is the age of technology that's -- well first let me get your impressions of how things have gone here.
For the RNC for.
The -- out of tonight's big speech -- Iran -- -- first of all.
The energy and enthusiasm of this whole convention even though.
They had to -- -- -- has exceeded expectations.
The speeches on Tuesday night have to set the stage the speech is only as the night.
-- to drive that home Paul Ryan did a great job of -- down the gauntlet and tonight I fully expect.
That the prime time speeches and the acceptance speech of governor Mitt Romney would take it home he will sound presidential tonight.
And that's exactly what I believe that the American people -- looking for.
Now I've interviewed you many times over the span of your race.
Sometimes you were pretty critical of governor -- yet.
You're at peace with him as -- presidential candidate for your -- let me tell you -- I'm at peace with him.
During the debates when I challenged him on his -- the -- point plan.
He is now pared it back.
To something to keep them on the stand relative to his across the board tax cuts relative to the tax code now I -- steel encouraging him.
To change the narrative.
To replace to tax code he's not there yet.
But on the other hand I also encouraged him to be specific.
On his energy independence plan and he's going to talk about that night in terms that if anybody can on the -- All right so I thought I'd get a couple questions in before started taking yours so we've been collecting.
Some tweets over the past few minutes.
Couple hours -- David then asked would mr.
-- except the cabinet post if he was asked about president round.
I would consider except in a cabinet posts but I can't categorically say that I would.
Because I'm all about being in the position to have a major impact on the direction of the country.
Would it have anything to do we have not wanted to meet one of his cabinet members know -- -- -- not.
But I would want to be put in the position where -- could have.
Maximum impact such -- and I'm not asking put -- job because Valerie to have some jobs plural.
Energy secretary.
How would take that -- apart piece by piece and put it back together.
That's probably not gonna happen but that's the type of person that I am.
Okay at MD stands Berry says what is the single most constructive choice.
Our next president should make to improve America's economy and job market asking for one.
The single.
Biggest name.
That the next president can do is to change the tax code.
The tax code.
Now I know that the fat -- an -- attacks have been around for decades and as the new kid on the block.
999.
Did 999.
I think I've heard them before heard that before.
But my point is.
He doesn't have to specify which one.
That the public debate it and -- and we go from there -- the tax code it's the single biggest thing that he can do to boost this economy.
You know what the criticism is is that.
He's talking about doing that he's talking about tax reform but -- not really getting a lot of specifics yet what tax loopholes.
We'll be closed what deductions would be eliminated.
What I'm trying to get him to do is to forget about talking about tax reform forget about -- -- deductions and loopholes.
Goal to replace -- tax code and all that stuff goes away.
Everybody ought to be don't think they're buying them.
I think they are considering it and I'll talk with governor Romney a couple weeks ago.
He -- is considering that narrative replace the tax -- All right let's keep going hey at CH cut -- asks what did you think about doctor rice's speech.
-- Condoleezza rice's speech was come telling.
Because of her experience.
Because of her knowledge it was very compelling.
She laid out the best case that I have seen.
For the dangers we face of the nation.
If we don't get back on the right track relative to.
National security.
Her speech both absolutely compelled.
And as an African American and a Republican.
You've talked a lot about reaching out to the African American community.
Condoleezza rise by just giving that speech may have done some of that yet she did she did some of that.
When she was -- secretary of state.
She did that last night.
And the unfortunate thing is that many people in the mainstream media and not -- Showcase.
All of the American black conservative of the ABC's about call them that are really in the Republican Party.
She is absolutely.
Case Dallas star.
Relative to number one thinking for yourself.
Number two.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- And she showed that last night there was a recent poll.
-- that said that.
President Obama would get something like 97% of the black vote and Mitt Romney would get zero.
That was in the -- I was a math major in college and one of the things that I had -- study -- statistics.
Let me tejada had told -- quality.
They had 1000.
Respondents.
And only a hundred and what did blow up.
Black Americans.
In that 1000 person home.
Now what I know about all of the if you take a -- -- That is not statistically significant.
Any conclusion you draw is erroneous -- they drew a conclusion that it's not.
Statistically.
Accurate -- -- it's wonderful black Americans.
Vs those samples out of a thousand.
And let me give me a second reason.
Many of the African Americans and by people -- -- -- for Mitt Romney.
They are either working in corporate America the corporate plan to corporate ladder.
But they individual business people they don't work -- allowance they weren't home.
When they took -- poll.
So I don't believe that -- but the biggest reason is a sub sample of a thousand person -- is not represented.
-- let's go down ask Larry Wilson.
Shoot the US continue to ponder the UN the United Nations.
I believe that the United States.
Should continue to fund the United Nations ill.
They do it -- our -- In business.
If you are the biggest and best.
You make the roof.
But the United Nations we are the -- -- -- -- But -- -- -- somehow we have given away our authority.
To dominate the rules for example.
The United States should have been in a position.
The deny Iran of being on a human.
Relations.
Commission that's nuts.
So if we can change the rules.
-- we should continue to fund.
You hear a lot of conservatives who have a real problem with the UN how it operates how much money the US gives to its.
It's a concern -- get you on the other side of the -- the Obama administration seems to be.
OK with the work -- its way through the UN.
A lot of conservatives have a problem with the United Nations because they have given up on being able to get the United Nations to work the way it should work.
The Obama administration has taken the opposite of -- Because they believe in something called the world -- -- And they want to basically -- -- -- -- on us the United States through the United Nations that is counter conservative.
And that's where the two parties differ in a huge -- conservatives don't believe that we can save the United Nations.
I believe that we should -- -- the baby with the bath water we should at least give them an opportunity.
-- do it more than out route I talk with a former ambassador John Bolton about this very issue -- when -- candidate.
And I say it is -- But the United States get more mileage.
Out of the United Nations.
Without jeopardizing it in printed -- under the he's the head yes and so I believe that we ought to try to get the United Nations -- more toward our.
Okay that's maverick -- asks what would you say to me alone who's receiving criticism after her speech.
What I was -- sued me you love who is a articulate intelligent black female.
From -- running for congress and someone went on to Wikipedia.
And it changed it because Wikipedia in about a -- and -- -- I would say that feel loved.
But did it.
Move on.
Most intelligent people know that they did a hatchet job on you.
The people that don't know that they did a hatchet job on you.
They office do -- Eight Noah does stupid -- Tell me -- You keep -- don't push it.
Because you've got a few here and use banned all the right -- in this country.
So is that a new bumper sticker yet ignore the stupid big -- another stupid below.
Both of those that are not stupid.
We'll win this accident.
Okay all right we're gonna keep going -- the great Bo Bo asks for -- game.
Do you regret your 999 tax policy in any -- do you think you underestimated how much voters would dissect it at.
The time.
I don't regret my man and a planned but thought -- did dissect this I can tell you didn't regret it in the number of different debates -- moderated.
Bet that voters did this I got sick did these so called think tank strapped to dissect it and what they did.
They can't read the whole plan.
The American people connected to Nan Nan -- So it wasn't a -- it -- these so called think tanks and it was this liberal opposition that.
Does not want to eliminate the current tax code -- and that man is still a lap.
And as Steve Doocy C at this morning you know your quote receivers and -- at this time on multiple -- do it all right -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- gonna keep going here.
Allison am Robinson.
Where's all the enthusiasm in the crowd seems to be less cheering and chanting this year -- out there what last night.
This place was on fire from my perch it was very very loud and it was kind of I I would assume tonight's going to be like that as well what -- -- Allison is.
The enthusiasm here has exceeded expectations.
And you have to be here to feel it.
You have to be here to feel the energy and the enthusiasm wanted to reasoned that I came to Tampa.
Was to have an opportunity to be on shows like -- and fox and others so I can share this the enthusiasm that people who couldn't come to Tampa those that are saying.
That the enthusiasm -- and here they are absolutely wrong you have to be here to -- it.
And also remember we started the week with a store.
A major storm that could have come here and then that was bearing down and is still a factor in New Orleans and Louisiana and Mississippi -- success.
OK at -- hate.
It's the same question about tax reform who went over that.
Will you run in the future from at JKM 1957.
Do you think you'll have a political run in you -- future.
Based upon what I know today and based upon how my life is unfolding.
I have no plans to run for political office in the future but what I do have plans to do is to help.
In -- here.
In form and mobilize.
The people the only way we are going to be able to change Washington DC is from the bottom up.
I am working as hard as I -- to get -- Ryan elected.
And we -- to -- with whatever congress make up that we get.
But I will campaign for.
Are around the country oh absolutely.
And the thing that we're gonna have to do as the public is to put pressure on the United States congress people sometimes forget.
The president is supposed -- crap about the leadership.
But the United States congress can be and has been one of the biggest stumbling blocks and so a massive citizens' movement.
Is gonna have to be the key.
To getting congress to do what they need to do system the president would have the easy decision deciding whether or not he -- -- -- -- All right we'll keep going I want -- one for mine and we'll check one for mirrors or real time here.
A mind is at Bret there you follow me and what's yours.
At V Herman -- here at -- there and at the -- -- Let's sit.
That's a man.
A vast the -- question you know we've got a lot flown in here we got that.
How do you get more -- this is at that request but right at DE TA holes yeah how do we get more of the young people to vote for Mitt Romney.
The way we get more people to vote for -- young people young people is to take our conservative message to the young people.
That's why in September and October.
Working with Bernie Marcus co-founder of Home Depot.
We -- doing -- truth tour.
In thirty cities in thirty days three events that day we call it 3033.
The first -- -- is going to be with local clergy and all of these cities -- in battleground states.
The newly debt is going to be any bit with CEOs and business leaders to encourage them to educate and inform -- employees.
The evening event will be on the college the university campus in that city.
One of the most startling statistics Brett.
That I discovered recently from a pew research poll.
Is that bought -- 3% of all voters thirty years of age or younger they think socialism.
Is who.
That's why we have gone to the college campuses.
We haven't done our job.
Of making the case for free -- -- -- that's why -- -- doing this 3033 to it and if they want more information.
Go to you guess it Herman Cain.
Dot com.
Okay this Twitter town hall -- -- along here a few more questions let's do at RL young Quist.
Does Mitt Romney -- the same question reach out college students you just answered that one.
At Vernon -- still do you believe.
Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have -- seniors about their plan not hurting current seniors.
I asked congressman Ryan about this in just few minutes ago on special report and swan -- the Booth and he said that.
They're gonna continue they think they're winning on this issue there was a new Washington Post ABC poll that had.
The Romney Ryan ticket -- on Obama Biden by two points on the issue of Medicare an issue that really you could never.
Talk about like this in the past.
What I like most about.
Representative Ryan's speech last night.
Is he -- it.
We want this fight on Medicare and other big issues and we gonna win this fight that is not.
Politics as usual secondly.
They haven't completely convinced all the the seniors yet.
Because every time they try to explain Betty if you will hit the -- -- of age.
You won't be impacted.
The liberal media tries to deny that.
And that's what they're up against is not just about educating the seniors.
Battle -- fifth of five is also about countering the negative criticism and and demagoguery.
Coming from the left.
-- you expect to see still.
Wheelchair going off the cliff over the cliff advertised they have on the continued.
Throwing -- -- all of the -- it's in their advertising but -- the good news.
Thomas Jefferson with the -- see it when people have the right information they will make the right decision.
And all the Romney Ryan ticket has to do is continue to put the correct message out there and is one of aspect and about -- talking about.
I have someone asked me but what about those young people what makes you think they want about chip.
Go ask them idea.
I do a radio show from time -- substitute until he syndicated radio talk show hosts.
-- going to be doing a radio show in January full -- five day of the week.
Young people are not stupid.
They will take the voucher.
And go out and buy their own -- -- if they -- given that opportunity.
OK we'll keep going here at the AL -- thrill.
Don't know how why is no one talking about.
High cost the rising cost of college.
That's a good question the president has campaigned out about that about student loans.
Getting congress to act.
Tuitions are going up that's a big issue.
College education.
Is a competitive segment about -- economy like everything else unfortunately.
It has been viewed more as these sacred cow.
And they haven't been challenged.
From a competitive standpoint.
When kids get committed to go to college.
Parents say well what -- do you wanna go to -- if they can afford to send them to school they try and accommodate wherever they wanna go.
Cameras have got to start to instill in students.
That -- in a college he is -- financial competitive decision just like everything else in life that's the only way.
You gonna begin to bring down the cost of college.
Take two more one last at -- seeing.
Last night it looked like someone was a removed from -- -- with the security coming in that yet -- actually that did happen it was a code pink.
Person taken out and lastly.
You know what let's listen into the the colors -- -- Now.
Let's turn.
-- Well.
It's.
Home look -- look good.
Please remain standing for the pledge of allegiance the National Anthem.
And the invocation.
It is now my pleasure to welcome.
But don't limit the knock -- a marine combat veteran and former executive director of the Republican party of Hawaii.
Who will lead us in the pledge of allegiance.
I pledge allegiance.
To the -- Of the United States of America.
And to the republic.
For which it stands.
One nation under god.
Indivisible.
With liberty and justice.

Once -- won't wow.
Do you believe.
And I.
Yeah most it's in broad base.

And I.

-- She's a year.
Okay.

And feel the -- for the wondrous blessings that fill our lives.
The beauty of the heavens and the earth and all things on it that were created under -- -- hands.
As a lasting testament to talk to us up by love for us.
Father and a world of turmoil.
-- evil seeks evil.
We humbly pray for those who suffer both physically and spiritually.
We pray for the little children -- those who were often left homeless and hungry and afraid.

So that those who have lost their homes those who feel ravages of disease and war and famine.

-- Please remain standing while the colors are retired.
Well we we'll do two more questions -- -- -- Rebecca.
This is a good one to come out of the prayer.
From -- bill for Jesus.
Whose speech surprised you the most.
Actually.
All of the primetime speeches inspired me I really didn't see.
One that surprised me the most in terms.
Being informative and inspiring so I didn't one that exceeded.
My wildest expectations I was just -- to see all of them do what they did very diplomatic -- or.
Last one last question.
-- green eyed lady 07 says what does governor Romney have to include in his speech.
He used them to win over the voters still on the fence about him.
Governor -- has to define his vision for America which I think he's gonna do.
And he has to give at least one specific examples.
How he's going to create jobs and based upon what I know about -- At -- there at V Herman Cain thanks -- playing in the Twitter town hall.
I've enjoyed it let's do it again very -- -- of us thank you thank you.
