Tonight governor Mitt Romney is now officially the Republican presidential nominee.

And for business and -- to housing to mideast peace.

Governor -- has gone on the record.

You know my -- have my job record is pretty substantial over the years I've -- a business some 25 years helped to create tens of thousands of jobs I know how the economy works.

I work in the real economy creating real jobs not just watching jobs be created by others but actually creating them.

Housing market here and in the United States have people can't sell the houses.

People unemployed may find a job another community can't sell their house in order to move -- other community now.

Gave president to have Romney would do what for the housing community and how fast -- couldn't anyone see any relief.

From -- Not my first four years if I'm lucky enough to become president how we'll go to work to get the economy working again.

And there are a whole series of things that have to be done to make our economy the power house.

That we need to be for this 21 century and the powerhouse we need to put people back to work.

And I've laid out those steps are really taxes regulation.

Energy policy they really to trade policies the rule of law.

Our education system workforce training immigration and finally balance and our federal budget.

There's no question but that this president has failed.

When it comes to caring for the American people.

As a result of for the president's policies in part were saying.

-- higher degree of poverty record level of poverty.

A 30%.

Of single moms are living in poverty in this country.

Record number of people 47 million people on on food stamps 2.3 million homes foreclosed upon the president's policies have failed his economic policy has been a bust.

We want to see peace in the Middle East meaning between the Palestinians and Israel absolutely.

We want to encourage that -- facilities that facilitate that yes but but for that to happen.

Ultimately the Palestinians are gonna wanna have to sit down and negotiate and so are the Israelis and I know the Israelis.

Are ready willing and able to do so without precondition.

So it is our political panel ABC news senior Washington editor Rick Klein watch Examiner's chief political correspondent Byron York in time magazine deputy -- bureau chief Michael Crowley.

Wreck happened tonight but is it.

I've looked -- this is a nation that is angry and is disappointed I think Mitt Romney played disappointed mostly because that's where the election is going to be determined I think he was.

Very effective in building the foundations of his candidacy around his biography this wasn't fueled by anger this wasn't tossing out red -- this was someone who.

Projected disappointment and I think.

That -- -- of the voters out there that he needs to commit suicide he's got the angry -- already he needs the ones who just feel like -- Barack Obama tried but it.

Get the job done.

If you tune them for this show at 10 PM eastern time you saw it begin with a very -- Stick by Clint Eastwood and I think you may have wondered what was going on.

I I agree with Rick about.

Mitt Romney's performance and I do want to say really quickly that.

For me one of the most affected parts of the evening was long before that -- started when there were testimonials.

About people that Romney had helped in his life including one particularly.

Touching one from family who have lost a fourteen year old -- fourteen year old son.

They laid out a very careful narrative starting with the with the family and then moving to.

Bain Capital on this business affairs and move into the massive state of Massachusetts and -- Olympics have really laid out his life and the things he thinks he's achieved.

They probably wish more people would -- that.

Yeah -- the testimony of some woman said this list like for the cameras are rolling you know as so in -- Guinness like yet.

That thought that was.

Powerful Michael.

Yeah well you deal that there was a lot of talk about whether Mitt Romney was gonna open up them reveal his true self when we were gonna see in new Mitt Romney and I thought it was possible I thought it was going to be a tremendous challenge but I.

Economic argument pretty well set and I think voters are clearly very unhappy about the economy the question is do we even know this guy to play.

Mean -- president.

-- -- -- saying you know I mean did he and I mean a lot -- something we get to know quickly and -- -- -- talked to check he just he's happy he's it would be reserved guy he's a private -- is what the Chrysler to know I mean like.

What warn you need to know bottom.

Well I think that there were.

Parts of his biography that were not terribly familiar to people he hasn't talked a lot about being being comes under attack but he hasn't all the positive -- story he hasn't talked a lot about his.

They think about how much George W.

Bush in 2002004.

Talked about.

His -- then.

Hadn't hadn't had -- his spiritual awakening and well he's been very reticent about that no I'm not saying that as a personal criticism the man I'm saying I did think it helps to explain why voters.

-- -- -- Barack Obama higher personal marks and they still have lingering questions but let me just -- very quickly.

I didn't see that transformative opening up showing everything tonight I thought he took a more cautious path I think this is what he -- what we get is.

The -- tonight it was a good face but it's it's not that transformation that people were looking for.

We're not gonna get that Mitt Romney had to write about it -- right this this was an opportunity and like other ones are but at some point.

You say okay -- yourself what was this himself and that's -- that's all we're gonna get from having.

He just is now calculating that the voter out there that as an -- a selection isn't gonna dislike President Obama and isn't isn't navy alike.

The Mitt Romney anymore they're just gonna give up on president Obama's and that's why I think this theme of you know I wanted this I thought -- line tonight.

I wanna President Obama to succeed okay because the nation would have succeeded and that is what's driving the voters out there were just a little bit at the -- or sorrow than anger -- -- -- the only the other key line was you know it's a it's a bad thing when the best.

Thoughts you have about this president -- the day you voted form.

That was good and then the other line was present -- -- promised us stop the rise in the oceans.

I pledge to help you and your family and him.

Very it's not an angry message you make an excellent point we've talked so much the last couple years about the Tea Party and the anger out there the primaries.

You know all of us -- -- -- a lot of primary investor we saw voters who were just curious and they -- stand up and yelling give speeches but the -- tonight was sorrow not anger.

Let's do something that we don't feel great about doing but the time has come we gave the guy -- chance and it's over.

Gentlemen thank you.

Last night -- whiz Kid Rock.
