Governor Romney giving deem most important speech yet in his campaign to win the White House.

Speaking to millions of Americans on the final out of the convention taking aim at president Obama's failed policies as he put it.

And vowing to restore the country.

But today.

Four years from the excitement of that last election.

For the first time the majority of Americans now doubt that our children we'll have a better future.

It's not we -- promised.

Governor Romney also getting a lot of support last night including former house speaker and former competitor Newt Gingrich.

And Florida senator Marco Rubio here's a quick recap.

Now tonight we heard -- long time now about Mitt Romney's success in business well -- now.

We've also learned that he so much more than that.

-- Iran is a devoted husband.

A father a grandfather.

And generous member of this community and church share a role model for younger Americans like myself.

Everywhere he's been he's volunteered his time and talent to make things better for those around him.

And we are blessed that a man like this we'll soon be the president of these United States.

Now each of us.

Must commit ourselves.

In the tradition of Ronald Reagan to come together.

President Reagan said there is no substitute for victory.

And this November.

We cannot settle for anything less this is the most critical election of our lifetime.

Each of us must do our part now.

To ensure that America remains.

In their tradition of President Reagan.

A land of freedom.

Hope and opportunity.

So let's talk about it -- Bill -- he is the editor of the weekly standard and bill I've read some remarks from you in which you indicate that you were not all of that fond of this speech he didn't think it was the barn burner that may -- it could've been.

Yeah look it's hard to judge that long ago the -- have tried stop trying to -- predict how the American people reactive.

The speeches they they they react that critical ways or ways that are unpredictable.

To me I would I would say this this presidential race was at -- basically think of his baseball game I'm looking forward to getting back to DC -- -- the -- against.

To that -- get a -- that exists in the top of the seventh.

Republicans had a real chance -- I think knocked in students take it seriously you know -- have a -- -- But -- immediate mandate so maybe now three to two reported to but the Democrats get to come out.

And -- my conservative Republican friends I just remind them this isn't the case where you get to make your case is a situation where you make your case and the other team.

This quiet they now come to the plate that got Bill Clinton they've got Barack Obama.

And they're gonna make arguments we'll see how much how many -- they can score.

Well and you said that there was some.

Thing that was left out prominently his speech last night and and you think that that may be an opening.

Before the president.

Yeah I mean they're big picture debates about the speech should have been on the -- the -- biographical little more for policy agenda that that's all reasonable people could differ on this this I think was.

The -- was just -- simple oversight and an error.

By the Romney campaign and really frankly by governor -- Not a word about Afghanistan were fighting a war 60000 troops there 240 some casualties this year 2012 and not.

And the word isn't mentioned Afghanistan the -- war isn't retention.

I know tribute to the troops of the young men -- women were fighting there I I maybe -- just got lost in the shuffle they were busy trying to cram a lot of stuff in the speech I think it's an error though.

And I think you'll be exploited by the Democrats who will say the Republicans traditionally the party of national security -- -- -- the party that worries about.

Keeping this country safe and appreciates the sacrifices of our military.

Where was that governor Romney's speech it has been said that Republicans generally don't enjoy broad based support among Hispanics the governor.

Made an appeal to that ethnic group and listen to this mean I'll get your reaction.

I believe in the promise of America.

That was hard work anything is possible regardless of where we come from.

That inspiring story has repeated itself time and time again in the lives of millions of Hispanic Americans who haven't handled.

As president the promise of America.

Our convention is taking place in a city that exemplifies.

How Hispanics have contributed.

To the building of -- richly diverse national fabric.

Well we've that was part of the video presentation the governor addressed it and talked about the freedom to succeed in this country here -- that.

We're a nation of immigrants.

With the children and grandchildren and great grandchildren of the ones who want a better life the driven ones.

The ones who woke up at night hearing that voice telling them that life in the place called America.

Could be better.

They came not just in pursuit of the riches of this world.

But for the richness of this life.

Freedom.

Freedom of religion.

Freedom to speak their mind.

To build a life.

And yes freedom to build the -- -- -- their own hands.

Like one of those lines that you know kind of makes us all happy to to -- you know proud to be American.

I thought that was roles that I thought our group -- rubio Susanna Martinez were excellent spokes men spokeswoman.

And they happen to be -- and they happen to be elected officials from important states I mean that's the impressive thing about -- vote very Republican looking at that convention.

I think you've got to be cheerful about the future of the party an awful lot of impressive young men -- women of diverse.

Backgrounds.

Who are governors congressmen senators who spoke to the country and laid out a reform conservative agenda.

That promise of a different generation he's the turnaround guy that was sort of grown up was gonna shepherd these forces ahead hopefully.

And I think that's a reasonable way to present the party and in that respect us that the support from the -- -- -- And its supporting cast of this event was -- Brian Christie Martinez Condi Rice marker will be -- I personally thought but I could be wrong about this that the lead actor Mitt Romney did adequately.

But not great you know what.

Not a very good movies have.

Pretty good leading men and excellent supporting cast and maybe that's the Republican.

Think this year is -- looking ahead of the Democratic Convention what do you expect that they will counter punch -- -- what will their line of attack.

-- -- -- that analogy I think they're supporting cast incredibly much weaker included the who's who of the impressive young democratic governors senators.

Congressman where they gonna try to out Harry Reid Nancy Pelosi.

Look ridiculous I did have building that -- big weapons but yet they -- two big weapons Bill Clinton who is that figure from the past but nonetheless a formidable figure.

I think Republicans are chortling about pro Clinton well you know that the fact that they have to try to Clinton has a weakness but that's not get -- -- the guy -- give a good speech.

He -- -- of make Obama seem less radical try to associate Obama's policies with -- zone Republicans need to be ready to really discredit.

Bill Clinton's effort to mainstream.

For Oklahoma to make him seem more moderate at that convention and as President Obama who's capable of giving a good speech.

I had -- Clinton moment will be important on Wednesday night actually -- Bill Kristol William publisher of the weekly standard bill thank you.
