Any unresolved problem segment tonight did you began to notice a theme last night.
The GOP's second tired of the same old democratic -- -- blaming bush for all their woes started firing back.
President Bush's brother Jeb who led the charge.
President it is -- time to stop blaming your predecessor for your failed economic policies.
You were dealt a tough man but your policies have not worked.
In the fourth year of your presidency a real leader would accept responsibility for his actions and you haven't done it.
Then it was Mitt Romney's turn.
This president can ask us to be patient this president can tell us it was someone else's fault.
This president can tell us that the next four years -- -- a rights.
But this president cannot tell us that you're better off today than when he took office.
Joining us now from Charlottesville University of Virginia politics professor.
Larry -- a -- all right Larry lower we're watching this play out with the bush.
Blame that still being sprinkled around quite liberally.
And finally -- -- the GOP said on Hamas.
Keeping with a Spanish think we're not gonna take it anymore is it working.
It will work partly because President Bush of the 43 W George W.
Has done a Smart thing which most presidents are unable to do once they leave office and that's to actually step off the stage you know he's been amazingly client.
And when -- quiet.
Even if you have high negatives you find that those negatives start dropping in the intensity level.
Drops as well and so you're just not as big a target it's probably not going to work as well as it might have worked otherwise.
And Larry hit making it also saying -- mostly Democrats of course.
Well the Republicans moderate turned to the same old bush policies that got us into this mess in the first place.
So that is like a scripted line it's set by almost every Obama surrogate.
I also tend to think that those swing voters and you've studied -- swing voters.
See what can you do what's your plan -- you gonna get us moving again or defend your record I think going back to bit.
To the idea the bush policies were beyond that I just don't think that works all that well anymore.
You can really overdo the blame game and I think the Democrats have to be careful about that in Charlotte.
This has to be more about defending what President Obama has done in his first term restructuring help people's seat.
What he has done in his first term and then projecting forward from that and saying here's what the second term is going to be like and here's what it means for you.
Rather than going back and saying as you know we're in the -- and were endless loop because the soup was can -- I did by George W.
Bush I don't think that does sell very well.
As if he had -- an -- five trillion dollars to the deficit with his -- -- own policies.
-- let's talk about not the convention on -- winners and we think we have mostly agree on that what the convention losers you actually said.
That Chris Christie did not emerge as a winner I take issue of that but tell me briefly why.
Well because his speech was more about him.
And also he did not do what the conventioneers wanted and what I think the people tuning -- at home at least the Republicans wanted to see.
And that was some red meat that's what Chris Christie is known for you know he can't really bash.
They wanted him to go on March a surprising why they they had to wait for Paul Ryan -- I read Larry Laura they -- they want and they want red army and Christie.
They haven't met Larry they want those those swing voters they want the women to start looking at the Republican Party and -- and people might have voted for Obama but have some doubts.
And when he said we've become paralyzed by our desire to be loved.
And we we must choose respect over love me nowhere with a masters of our own destiny -- -- the victims of our destiny I thought that was.
I thought it was Chris Christie at one of his best moment now I wasn't -- and people apart but.
I that was powerful stuff but nonetheless professor it's great to see it was dollars and straight ahead diversity on display in the GOP --
