-- -- tell me about a little bit about how you lost your leg in Afghanistan back in twenty and 2010.
I was just on a routine mission and I and -- seven on a land mine.
Just on the way back to our our base.
There was just single file line as you're going to their country and I was number six in order movement and saw -- to them.
Crossing canal and then I ended up stepping on and I blame that I blacked out for a second and then -- woke -- ten feet in the air and then I fell into a ditch.
Mom and then my guys -- -- IE BIB.
And then I didn't I didn't present and I was injured.
And so I got back -- all right I'd kind of like crawled and then they're like Gore's map where is Mac so I I didn't know.
We don't they certainly don't now than it was me that was injured and so bomb -- Atlanta addiction and they they ended up grabbing me and and we're phenomena.
And thank god you're saying that at that time.
Did you think that you would still be able to be athletic afterwards no.
That's the first thing runs in my in my mind was I was supposed to be -- -- and and so that really that really hurt my dad always drawn -- was.
It was a huge you know inspiration me here's my coach and his views are my best friend and so that was my biggest thing.
Knowing that I was gonna have a -- is that Tom I just wanted to be as coaches and be along as his side as long as I can and do whatever he did and so that was my biggest -- So you're not you're not just inspiring your -- your inspire your troops all over the world and that's your goal that's why you wanted to become a ball boy.
At the US open what is the message for other troops that are going through some similar situation.
All this and then it's hard in the beginning and there's no doubt.
Doubting that it's it's an obstacle overcome one of the same time.
-- the human will is very powerful and whatever you put your mind to you can you can achieve -- you can you know overcome any obstacle.
You competed against 600 other people to become a ball person at the US open you.
Got that you made the cut and I understand that they ask you at the time when you're in the competition continue through tennis.
They -- -- look at the toughest laws and the first -- my mind is you know that I have their hand grenades and is just like.
Not candidate is this quite heavy compared to a tennis -- on -- -- the yeah I think I can handle and so they kind of tease you for a little while.
And one of the highlights for Raddatz has been able to meet people like -- Andy Roddick and Brooklyn Decker the model who.
What he's on he's actually met her before -- -- moving forward though you hope to compete in the 2016 paralympics in Rio.
Was an inspiration.

What did you think of his competing in track events and the criticism some seven it was an unfair advantage.

Still some trying to residents tried running with its not fun and it it's not.
