It helped support.
The basic bargain of this country.
The -- of the -- the greatest middle class and the most prosperous country.
And the most prosperous economy in the world has ever known.
When I was President Obama yesterday in Toledo Ohio reaching out to unions and their supporters.
Organized labor played a big role in his 2008 went.
What has recently complained about some of what they think the president has failed to do.
-- look we found in the federal election records watch -- Democrats go to blue.
Seeing the lowest backing by unions and 22 years there's less the donations -- -- the Republicans in the race that if you squint your eyes and put on your glasses you -- be able to see.
Joining me now Lou Dobbs host of Lou Dobbs tonight on the Fox Business Network.
Also syndicated radio host of -- dot dot com -- so I hit it big shocker that the union's favor that the Democrats more than they gave the Republicans but it is headline that.
Their donations to the Democrats into -- to the president are down overall.
And we talked about on this program a while back about how they had said.
They were gonna start putting their money into their own local union issues more so -- into this president and his candidacy.
Is he actually losing.
I think he is at least at the margin Megan and and the reason that this is perhaps.
-- very important to the outcome on November 6 is that for the first time we've got a democratic president telling.
Membership and the senators.
That they're going to be effectively on their own and their campaigns this is a president now desperately fighting for his own survival.
And what we've watched the unions due in part because where you were seated now.
Is a a right to work state it's a non quote unquote non union states.
And this is -- Democratic Party that is trying to figure out the way toward victory over the sixth they they're not entirely -- sure of their strategy to this point.
The unions focusing on local and state races which by the way in 2010.
And too often that this is part of the forgotten.
Political reality that -- -- Just two years ago the Democrats were devastated at the polls people keep looking back understandably to the to the presidential election 2008.
But 2010 is one of which we saw.
A state houses go to through the Republicans we -- state legislatures going to the Republicans we -- the senate.
Or the Democrats have a much larger percentage -- controlled dwindle.
And the house of course they -- so this is quite an interesting strategic cast 41.
-- -- -- I'm trying to figure out where they really stand because when you look at that.
Grass is clearly shows they've donated less to President Obama and the Democrats than they did back in 2008 there's no question when you see on that -- when you check that the actual numbers.
But we just did a story yesterday with Tucker Carlson where we talked about what you need to look at look at the difference between -- late -- and that blue line and and 2012 and -- blue line is that the donations are down by tens of millions.
We -- -- story yesterday talking about how.
They were pledging to spend more than 100 million to help President Obama win.
In his reelection effort this time around so I'm.
They're saying that on the one hand on the other hand they're not actually forking over a lot of -- and they're they're complaining about North Carolina being the -- the DNC why didn't President Obama for the Keystone Pipeline.
They think he should have been more aggressive front.
There -- labor appointments and and help for big -- -- card check it's also what's what's the truth about where they stand.
For your audience to understand that this is partly -- political theater that were witnessing.
This division between labor and of the Obama presidency.
I think is.
Is for real but it's far and it's a fared.
Shallow -- division and might otherwise.
Be the case in the perceptions of many.
Remember this is the bargain you just heard the president refer to the bargain yes yesterday on Labor Day.
He's from -- a bond between the democratic candidates and officeholders.
In this country.
And the -- and the teachers unions.
You know of the federation -- government workers you name it.
In which they are taking money from the taxpayers moving it through the union.
Returning it in terms of ground force.
Across the country for a local state -- elections.
And then boosting the democratic candidates that bargain remains intact.
Well and we saw the vice president come -- yesterday and talk about how -- you know he's trying to make this all about the evil Republicans and how they are not pro union and spoke to a group saying left.
Instead of vilify -- union members we should be thanking you quote.
We only you and and in the cases of the Democrats that that is true when you look at the number of dollars in efforts that the unions have put out on their behalf however -- -- also.
This -- but -- by Vice President Biden said visits were those instances in part.
You know he's far more liberal in his statement and factual and true that I had so I'm sure you ever intended.
We all millions about.
You know a trillion dollars of unfunded pension benefits.
We -- unions across the country through municipal bonds.
Almost four trillion dollars primarily through public employees.
I mean this is a staggering amount of money this bargain that President Obama referred to yesterday Megan.
What you -- you're the epicenter of what may be a breaking of that bargain.
As we -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- you know all of you all of your sentiments have resulted in in a backlash here in Charlotte, North Carolina to the -- where the unions have now organize something called.
Chicago -- It was it starts to offer free hugs.
At a convention related event here because they they they feel that they -- each other members are valued employees that do important work.
Not union sides look look look what -- get off.
Well you know darn god I I think that may be going overboard -- its radio -- would be -- -- the go far as hard.
But I'm sure that they -- players -- unsure of the show's employees unions put up big banners all around you saying.
Brought to you by the service employees union on the other side of the arena.
Perhaps another banner saying brought to you by the federation government employees I'm sure they're very direct and go over to their sponsorship and problem.
Well I understand that the head of the service employees union actually will speak here I think tonight that the -- of the -- so the AFL CIO and others have said we're taking a pass because that we don't want it.
You know do these big presentation in NN right to work state minivan just want to show you the damage you've done -- -- well.
All right I want apologized to everyone I know so many people are sensitive about these things and I would never ever watch it anyway.
-- -- -- -- -- Thank you but it's about.
See you soon.
