Let's talk to someone who was there in person to hear the speech Chris Wallace the anchor of FOX News Sunday -- you're giving it what four stars Chris.
No I'm given at one thumb up and one -- down John and good morning to you.
-- first of all the Obama camp says that according to the polls that Michelle Obama is the most popular political figure in this country.
And they also say she's a marvelously effective speaker it was a brilliant performance when -- read the speech before -- I thought.
A guy.
But -- I watched her performing and even reading from the teleprompter.
She owned it and it was no longer word she was speaking but coming from our -- -- very effective.
They said that she was going to be a character witness for her husband and you know I think she did as good a case as one can make.
That as you say he's tried hard but change is hard and it's gonna take some more time and also that they understand.
What middle class struggles -- like because they live those middle class struggles they went through college -- They have problems that -- -- their families growing up they've lived the American dream so they understand that the one thing.
That I must -- -- -- closely but that it was the subtext was it was all about government when she talked about the best of the American spirit.
She talked about first responders and firemen and military all.
Wonderful profession with little government professions that no talk about -- -- volunteer is no talk about.
You know your religious leader at your local church or synagogue.
And when she talked about ways to build the middle class again.
It was all about government and and having been in Tampa last week and now here this week.
What struck me John as if you think that.
More government is the solution.
This is the party want -- vote for -- anyone about where if you think that excessive government of the problem.
-- there's no room for you here.
Well clearly she got the talking points from the Obama campaign.
You know she her her mission.
Was to sell President Obama especially to women here's another clip of what she had to say and on its reaction afterwards.
I see the concern in his eyes.
And I hear the determination in his voice as he tells me you won't believe what these folks are going -- Michelle it's not right.
We got to keep working to fix this we've got so much more than do.
So no references to the president's.
You know -- early in his administration that if you didn't get things fixed in four years it was going to be a one term proposition.
Clearly she is trying to sell the American people on the notion that you know for years just isn't enough.
No that's right and and yes that was certainly targeting of women and who better to do it from the the democratic point of view.
But I think even more than that and this gets back to your original clef about change is hard.
I I think day and frankly also the Romney campaign are targeting those people who voted for Barack Obama in 2008.
But -- disappoint -- and on the bubble and perhaps persuade a ball.
And the Obama campaign to Michelle Obama last night trying to keep them in the camp.
The Romney people -- and you know it's okay but they did decision to both firm and open changed made sense but he hasn't lived up to what.
And it's time not a make a change from do you suppose an agent of change.
