-- make no mistake about it Democrats are about to unleash one of the party's most valuable weapons.
When former President Bill Clinton takes to the stage tonight.
We reaching out to connect with a wide range of voters including white working class voters and wealthy donors in the financial industry.
Last night the convention focused on Latinos won San Antonio mayor who -- Castro gave the keynote address.
We know that in our -- market economy some will prosper more than others.
Well we don't accept is the idea that some folks won't even get a chance.
And the thing is Mitt Romney -- the Republican Party are perfectly comfortable with bad America.
In fact that's exactly what their promising us.
The star of the night it was First Lady Michelle Obama.
Making the case to give her husband four more years while courting Hispanics.
Women and the working class.
-- when you've worked hard and done well.
And and walk through that doorway of opportunity.
You do not slam -- shut behind you know you've reached back.
Let's talk about it would Vilma Gurney -- a columnist for the Wall Street Journal but you're also here because you -- speechwriter for president George W.
Bush I.
Generally last night those big speeches got a pretty good reviews what did you think.
Yeah I thought Michelle Obama in particular entity.
Very good job.
And where firstly he's supposed to do really put -- vivid portrait of her father of her family.
And her husband and so forth and in a way I think she did it better than -- Romney it was more vivid the illustrations about the rusting old car and so forth.
I'm so I think she did very well at that I do think she when she got political that diminishes.
Things I think that's true for any First Lady would it could have been shorter.
And and all that said I think that firstly -- speeches don't.
Mean much after.
After the convention -- -- rate for the room.
But I've got around how does he got tragedies they think -- -- Romney's case it's kind -- an opportunity you give a slice of life of her -- people that haven't seen it but in the end today people are gonna vote based on that so tonight we have Bill Clinton himself.
Taking the stage and telling people what a great guy Barack Obama is and and why we should reelect him to the presidency right.
Isn't that there are many people who are concerned about what he's gonna say in the -- on the democratic side or they're wondering.
Is he in some -- is a problem for the president is.
Right well he he's Bill Clinton so when you put him in front of a microphone you don't know what's gonna happen two years ago he showed up at a white house press conference the President Obama and he sort of stole the show now -- a letter today President Obama looked at his watch and and and left.
So there's always that agency he has he has he loves this environment he loves the microphone.
And he just has that personality.
I don't think they're really afraid of what he's going to say if you look at what he said in 2008.
When he and a lot more reason to be angry it was it was a unifying speech and so forth in fact I think Bill Clinton's job this time.
Is to explain Obama policies in -- way.
That President Obama has not yet done but Obama policies are not Bill Clinton policies I mean Bill Clinton worked with Republicans worked with Newt Gingrich to shrink the deficit you have get a balanced budget reduce welfare rolls you a lot of things that -- -- the antithesis of what President Obama they don't -- the antithesis they are aliens that that's OK but you haven't been reading Bill Clinton's book where he claims through the same.
And you watch the speech tonight.
He's going to claim -- it's the same and there's a reason for this for the Democrats look in 2008.
President then mr.
Obama succeeded.
Largely because he ran against George W.
Bush and not John McCain he tied John McCain to George W.
Bush and that's when he ran on.
This time there's a similar proxy.
Element going on he doesn't want people think about the Obama economy that we have he wants people think about the good times in the 1990s.
Who better to sell that vision than Bill Clinton himself -- sort of a -- memory of a democratic and yeah I -- and and not specific content in this trailer in this little ad says these -- the policies that I pursued and we need them -- look for it's it's you know on the rest of us will be like you'll be like footnotes trying to explain but you know hill and to have the message out there and he will -- -- bill moderate bill --
