All right well it really is the moment that everybody's been talking about here the DNC DNC chair Antonio Villaraigosa.
Holding a vote in Charlotte last night to put the word god back in the party's platform.
As well as a reference to Jerusalem.
Being the capital of Israel.
Lot of people and our eyes on both of those things were suddenly missing from the Democratic Party platform so you can see here a lot of people not happy about the change.
This after Republicans criticized Democrats permitting them in the first place.
Georgia congressman Tom price is chairman of the house Republican policy committee and member of both the prayer caucus and the Republican Israel caucus so I can imagine this was very much -- On your mind -- on your lips yesterday discussed this with your caucuses congressman.
A market that you're absolutely right like this this was concerning on so many counts that.
They the recognition of god having his hand in our nation -- goes back to our founding documents the declaration of independence which states.
We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal and endowed by our creator.
With certain unalienable rights and there's a real concern across the country about the -- -- secular -- nation of our nation.
And about the left promoting that secular stations so when it was left out I think that was really.
Tone -- by by the the Democrats and then the whole issue of Jerusalem.
It at this pivotal time in the Middle East.
-- to bring this issue up I think demonstrates really eight a lack of appreciation for the consequences of these decisions.
So whether it's principle or or policy and that the process that was really embarrassing yesterday.
I think this was wrong on so many count.
It's all right -- let's break it down little but I spoke just about an hour ago to Stephanie Cutter the deputy.
Share for the Obama campaign.
She said that the president never read the platform.
Before it was -- acted.
And that.
Believing those two things out of -- this time around was a mistake.
And she says she had no idea who made that change nobody seems to know who decided to delete that language what you think about -- But it reminds me of speaker Pelosi said you got to pass it so that you can tell what's in it as as they did with the health care bill.
Look that let -- be White House championed and the administration has championed the fact that this platform was gonna reflect very specifically this president's views and so clearly somebody had a hand in this and and one of those two things taken out this was a change this wasn't.
Continuation of policy.
On the other hand governor Romney clearly has stated that that it Israel is our strongest ally.
And and and that the support that the United States must give Israel at this pivotal time is -- and into two -- the end democratic platform include.
Or exclude a Jerusalem as the capital city of of Israel at this time just again is is just so tone -- as it relates to the consequences of actions taken here in this country.
And any remarkably challenging time in the Middle East.
Were you surprised as many of us war.
When they took the vote on the floor yesterday that the -- is where equal to the name is there they were just as many people down there who wanted to keep this language out of the platform for the Democrats as there -- they want to put it -- and it's certainly put.
There Vieira -- in a very awkward position down there.
Top top position but I think it confirmed for the American people how out of touch the democratic -- delegates there.
In Charlotte are with with the real wishes and desires of the American people and also made it actually reminded me so much how they showed through policies through the United States House of Representatives.
And congress previously without regard to to the vote whether it was on -- health care or or or other issues.
So again this is troubling on a principled standpoint they need the recognition.
That our creator that god has his hand in in the the -- of our nation.
On a policy standpoint from -- ignoring the fact that that Jerusalem and Israel is a very very important to us.
And then -- -- process standpoint where the American people recognize that it certainly wasn't two thirds of the delegates that voted to put that back in.
Yeah I -- it's important issue and surprising to hear that the president.
You know perhaps not but he didn't read it word for word surprising but that somebody didn't advise him on any changes that were in there that might.
Sort of crop up and cause embarrassment or controversy so.
Ultimately going to be some questions answered there indeed congressman price thank you very much good to see you thank you.
