The end of the political conventions marking the beginning of a two month sprint to Election Day and according to most polls.

The candidates are still locked in a very tight race now the campaigns will focus their attention.

On spending millions of dollars on television ads making stops in swing states.

And preparing for four presidential debates -- the presidential one vice presidential.

And their effort to reach the White House joining us now Fox News contributor democratic strategist Julie were against -- And the co host of the five here on the Fox News Channel Andrea to -- great to see about eight feet -- let's start with you who was in the better position coming out of their convention heading into the general election.

Well I think Barack Obama is purely -- energy that he generated by the fact that if you look at all the metrics in the polling in the swing states he still leads by a tiny sliver -- -- he still leads tiny bit.

But for an incumbent president to just -- a little bit ahead is not a very good sign.

And look Mitt Romney has one job over the next -- weeks and that's to convince the American people.

That he will do not just a good job as president but a better job and this is gonna come down -- two things.

Either the people -- -- like ability which Obama has all given that.

Or -- into someone who can handle the economy typically voters do go would like ability but this is a different election.

And I think this time around he leads -- doesn't double digits when you ask who's better poised to fix the continental there is one thing Els saying this is not a partisan analysis but something is somebody has run campaigns that can say.

When you saw both Obama and Romney do which you rarely see in political conventions -- both were appealing strictly to their face the -- they saw the president did yesterday.

Tell -- to appeal to the base Republican base that wasn't appeal to independents very interesting it's because -- only three to 5% undecided voters this year.

To galvanize their base particularly with Hispanics and that's what they're trying to gin up the single woman vote with this war on women they have real issues with their base -- -- doesn't happen anymore.

He's gotten enthused party that wants to get Obama out of the way and we saw a couple -- The bookends -- to this convention going into it opening day Tuesday we ticked over sixteen trillion dollars in the debt clock finished out the bad jobs numbers in the -- had.

I don't think so the platform to -- was unfortunate it was a debacle and then you know the people that were running the platform and left -- especially Jerusalem as the capital his role outward that was inexcusable and I'll be the first to say that but I will also -- you know his son Bill Clinton's speech.

That energize the party I don't recall ever being.
