One of us.
They -- much during much you know your thoughts you have done so much work on the homeland security committee trying to help keep the nation safe.
Over the course of these eleven years that you're -- -- your thoughts on that number of attacks that have been thwarted and how we're doing in that effort.
Actually -- -- -- doing -- well I mean all of us lost so many friends and neighbors constituents on September 11.
And are being -- what President Bush.
It's a few days afterwards and all of us expect another attack nobody ever thought the world -- and welcome back the way it has -- we stop many many attacks here in New York City alone.
-- -- fourteen attacks attempted against New York since September 11.
But at the national level of work to President Bush to continue our President Obama.
What dating all the intelligence agencies what's been going on here in New York with the NYPD.
But job that they -- It's just we -- so much.
What's safe -- on nine elevenths having said that the enemy -- also adapted.
And even though that cannot be another 9/11 type attack they are trying to recruit people under the radar screen and we have we have not got as much as we -- war.
But the last we ever wanted to do is he -- -- that any type of terrorist attack succeed in this country.
You know we have to be nimble of course as you say.
And those who want to hurt us are constantly.
Evolving and you know trying to think around -- ways to get five -- things that we have put in place.
We were just at the conventions and the perimeters around those buildings and the difficulty getting into them.
A lot of people started complaining you know evident that it's -- done that we've you know sort of gone too far.
Protecting every single building that you know -- houses these kind of events across the country what you think about that.
You know nobody would have said that on September 12 the fact is we all sat on September 11 that we now live in the world.
A part of that the world means we have to have security that we didn't have before and it's hard to can be annoying it's time to give slows down.
But I'd rather be delayed 51015 minutes -- be blown up ought to have -- immigrants overblown bought.
That's the world we live it and -- we always have to try to work adjust and adapt and tightly to modify some security Centre has -- -- -- But again I -- intelligence reports I know.
And others -- as well certainly respect earlier in the -- knows.
The extent of the threat the enemy poses.
-- -- -- times so many places.
They -- trying to find ways to attack -- whether it's Yemen.
Whether it's.
-- itself and the -- we go -- all of these countries where.
-- located walked through.
And so we I instead to its debt innocent people.
Being frustrated the fact is I'd rather be frustrated and -- what's your biggest concern right now.
I had -- concerns and the related one is that because we have not been successfully attacked.
You Merck and people think the threat is no longer that and Richardson's presidential campaign no one's talking about the threat of terrorism.
It's as if it's -- robbery Gettysburg something happened along time ago -- -- -- real constant threat.
And the other.
Part of the danger is that we start.
Pulling back on on Homeland Security that we not realize.
How important that we continue to spend money on that we continue to fund it.
That we continue to train a police and firefighters that we continue to have a liaison.
Between federal state local police you have to share information.
And intelligence that's gonna let's go to Davis as a terrorist makes it.
Who would trade with a bomb.
You makes it onto a plane -- a -- certainly portrayed a little bridge -- tunnel.
Chances are it's gonna succeed it's our job to stop them before they get that and that can only done by intelligence work by -- police work.
We can't have groups like the civil liberties union of the New York Times.
Constantly attacking.
Organization such as NYPD.
Would do -- such a phenomenal job.
And I would also -- civilians.
Who in many cases have also done their part acted when they see something say something which has been extraordinarily effective.
If you look back at some of these attempts in plans -- -- it's always nice to have you with us thank you so much there.
