I'm joined now by Republican congressman -- I -- she answered on the foreign affairs committee and went to Libya met within -- that are Stephens.

Chris Stevens is a it was a career diplomat somebody who began with the peace corps.
I ran -- from over the years he had -- just assignments here and he also was in.
Syria Egypt he was somebody who understood how difficult this transition would be.
He's somebody who is used to working both with dictators and quite frankly -- people that you wouldn't like on the other side.
His -- will love will mark the first time in in decades and we've lost to a and ambassador the last senior diplomat we lost was in Jordan a few years ago it's unusual.
And we have to take it in perspective these men and women know they put their lives in harm's way every day.
He was somebody who went out in the community.
Did things more boldly than some would do but did them because he was trying to bring.
Our country that is lived under -- dictator for forty years back.
From that.
If perhaps reflects poorly on our security in the area.
But that's for other investigations to deal with right now we're dealing with the first loss of a -- ambassador.
Since 1979.
You what we're waiting for more details on what exactly happened the initial reports were that.
He and the others were killed in the fire that was sent to the building.
The later reports where that they were found in a car and that there were -- -- is involved and possibly suffocation.
I mean it does raise some questions and perhaps you're correct that there for another day but it raises questions.
About what the security was like there.
-- we have three three walls of defense that we deal with when we put our embassies and foreign countries.
The first is of course our -- CIA our -- intelligence forces to try to assess the threat level against our embassy in their personnel.
The second and perhaps the most important in fact.
Is our foreign host to -- responsibility to provide a safe environment and deal with mobs and gatherings and so on.
And then of course lastly usually our US Marines who guard the embassy in the ambassador along with -- foreign.
Service personnel for that.
That last one can never be the only we can't fortify these embassies enough with just our soldiers sailors Marines in the light.
We have to count on our host country so that'll be part of what congress will look at the State Department look at his.
Do we have the support of our host country.
In Egypt with the new government won his lesson for all American and obviously in Libya.
