This just in May be a Jimmy Carter mess on his hands hours after the killing of an American ambassador.

Growing frustration over lack of ray needs.

From an American president.

Welcome everybody I'm Neil Cavuto -- it is always Dicey to take not a president over its handling.

Of a foreign crisis especially when you're running for president yourself.

The corn says you don't but decorum also says you don't accept a mob invading -- US consulate in Libya and killing our ambassador.

And three others today Mitt Romney decided to bolt.

-- -- -- Simply put having an embassy.

Which is has been breached and has protesters out -- grounds having violated the sovereignty that states having that embassy.

Reiterated statement.

Effectively apologizing for the right of free speech is not the right course for an administration.

Today box on top of some scary Middle East a -- -- the president attacked for not speaking out more strongly.

Not explaining his refusal to meet with Israel's prime minister more forcefully.

And all amid a Middle East that seems to be erupting into anti Americanism.

Almost daily.

The Republicans say it hearkens back to this guy.

John McCain is much more interested in what it is -- saying about.

Us guys Americans.

The senator was kind enough to join us right now.

Senator I knew you knew the ambassador.

Very very well.

Your thoughts right now.

It's a lovely man he loved his country he.

Served in the diplomatic corps he -- have been guys -- while the fight was still going on tech came not cargo airplane lived.

In constant danger until it was over.

To Tripoli and set up our embassy there which was very rudimentary.

The Libyan people liked and admired him.

I I can't tell you what a wonderful man he was and I had the opportunity to.

Spend time women including the day of the -- election.

Hundreds of thousands of Libyans celebrated and by the way elected.

A very moderate.

To I.

-- can't tell you how sad and how much we mourned for his family.

And there's also Sean Smith and two others who have not been identified yet you know -- also.

Were sacrificed.

It's you know senator a lot of folks -- saying.

The timing is weird and -- taking -- to rage over.

The movie on Mohammed is weirder still what do you think.

I think it's important.

You know to recognize that what was done in the attack and then guys she was an organized terrorist attack.

Wish people -- is heavy weapons people -- RPG's.

And it was a planned and orchestrated terrorist attack.

In Cairo.

It was a mom incited by these.

People that.

Hate America that were using this.

The so called film that -- sooner provokes.

Muslims.

So there are two very different motivations.

And types of attacks -- carried out.

You know it's always it is -- I know we have to its investigations.

See what happened and but there's growing concern here that.

This was an orchestrated events and that there might be a lot more to this meets -- -- having said that.

What does it say about than the new Libyan government what's been cobbled together on it and -- -- how loyal it is time.

It's.

-- Libyan government is very loyal to us and they proved that in the elections where they had.

Huge voter turnout and they voted for a moderate government not an Islamist.

Government.

But there's -- you know their own guns and weapons all over that country -- result of the fighting there's still these militias that are armed.

This is not a strong government they just recently were elected they have.

Haven't got to train police or army the army and -- particularly the police were all for Qaddafi.

And so there's still these checkpoints in Tripoli and and guys see in the -- and others -- -- these militias are still in charge so.

There have been jihadist event coming into that country there are al-Qaeda.

That have come into that country and are operating in that country with weapons they know that.

And obviously it's going to mean that we have to have a very secure.

Environment for any American has Willis are difference.

Many of your colleagues sir have been criticizing the president -- -- Pretty stoic response to this he's an -- the right diplomatic language but.

It is not exactly that passions.

Response to this what he said.

I think that obviously.

And you know I almost hate to get into this in this day of of sorrow for these four brave Americans but I think the initial.

In -- -- response was obviously.

Not what we would expect and then the killing of the ambassador took place.

And it.

I think people can sort out the tic -- but I know this and will -- -- if it.

Provokes us to withdraw our support for these people to leave them on their own without our our assistance and guidance than the bad guys when.

Then the islamists and terrorists win because -- they will have driven us off the playing field and I don't think they are.

I think that our interest in Egypt and that part of the room are pretty significant because if we would -- out of fortress America.

Some of those places could be a breeding ground for al-Qaeda and we know what al-Qaeda likes to do.

You know senator a lot of folks.

-- the political or not look at this and say -- that would be just good money after bad and others talk about.

More supplemental funding for Libya and it's up its rhapsody now who incidentally.

Twenty million dollars I believe we've got another.

Pots of money that's -- Egypt a big one point six billion dollars know a lot of your colleagues said enough already enough enough enough.

-- -- -- I can understand that and I think the amount of money that would go to.

Live view would be minimal or nonexistent but there Darrell -- Production is up to where it was.

-- when Qaddafi was power so they've got.

They've got lots of money in Egypt they've got enormous difficulties.

Obviously economically.

I think we have to be judicious as to how we use taxpayers' dollars.

But I can guarantee.

If we take action.

That makes enemies out of that part of the world -- we will pay a very heavy price over time.

And I know Americans are hurting.

But I believe that in the case of -- they have every opportunity over time to have me.

Functioning democracy that's a friend of America and I think that Egypt.

Is so important it's -- heart and soul of the Muslim world.

And so it matters to us what happens in Egypt and I understand the frustration the anger and sorrow.

That the American people are feeling today I shared with him.

But it is in is -- in our interest to let al-Qaeda in jihadist drive us out of the region I don't think so.

John McCain thank you sir thank you Senator John McCain -- -- the president.
