Back inside America's election headquarters in right now President Obama is coming off a trip to Colorado.

One of the most competitive swing states in the 2012 campaign.

The president reaching out to middle class voters in Jefferson County is suburban area on the west side of Denver.

Republican challengers Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan both holding recent events in the same area.

Republicans say the key to success in Colorado could be winning back Jefferson County it was once considered.

A Republican stronghold.

The latest polls show President Obama pulling ahead in Colorado he is up by nearly four points in the real clear politics polling average.

He leads 49 to forty five point 3%.

The -- a look at some of the facts from Colorado the economy there well unemployment just even with the national average eight point 3%.

The USA point 3% these are July figures I should point out.

The unemployment rate actually dropped a little bit.

But that was largely because of people leaving the workforce are leaving yet active search for work.

The number of foreclosures in August in Colorado one in 617.

Units at slightly better.

Then the national average of one in 681.

Gas prices in Colorado a little bit better than the national -- -- well three dollars and 7069.

Cents a nationwide it's about 387.

In terms of the history about presidential candidate visits you can see both are taking this a very seriously.

Four visits for Mitt Romney.

Let's talk about it -- Allison Sherry -- Washington correspondent for the Denver Post.

Alison a lot of people nationwide in our latest Fox News poll 80% say they think we are still.

In a recession what's the mood in Colorado.

I think Colorado -- the national average as you can see the unemployment rate is the same.

And people are still feeling you know I think it's gonna come down to the suburbs and -- then.

And and I think.

People are gonna have to make a decision and you know on the die on Election Day on whether they feel better you know now than they did forty years ago and -- have to think about the future and they're gonna have to say.

You know who I trust what the next forty years so that because it's been -- hard for years we just came out of.

-- when you and your editors put put.

You know pen to paper and and think about the issues that matter Colorado voters what are you writing about.

-- you already got the economy where writing about.

And I mean I actually think that sun that that that the campaign the Obama campaign.

Has tried to target women and that state and and an obvious they were sort of going after -- women's issues and trying to paint that Romney is.

You know extreme on abortion and and birth control and those sorts of things I've seen.

And then step away from that a little bed and that there has been out post convention thumping Conrad you -- you you noted that there's.

Three or four points ahead the president's three -- four points ahead at this -- at this moment.

You know Romney's campaign said yesterday that.

That they seem very desperate they're coming to -- out of so much and you know I don't think anyone really knows how it's gonna go out.

Lot of voters yet to be persuaded it seems we'll we'll see what happens.
