Heather the Obama administration now saying that the deadly attack on the US consulate and then Ghazi last week was spontaneous.

Four people were killed including US ambassador Chris Stevens Susan Rice the US ambassador -- the UN.

On FOX News Sunday saying that the violence stems solely -- reaction to an anti Muslim video.

The FBI house is has a lead in this investigation.

The information the best information in the best assessment we have today.

Is that in fact this was not a pre planned premeditated.

Attack.

That what happened initially was it it was a spontaneous.

Reaction to what had just transpired in Cairo.

It as a consequence of the video so.

The president of Libya says that is not the case that it was absolutely plan and likely probably the work of militants linked to al-Qaeda.

Here at home Senator John McCain had his own take on -- Most people who don't bring.

Rocket from propelled grenades and heavy weapons to a demonstration.

That was an act of terror and for anyone to disagree with that fundamental fact I think -- years.

It really ignoring facts so what do -- make of this now KT McFarland Fox's national security analyst Stephen Hayes senior writer for the weekly standard.

And the Fox News contributor good morning to both fabulous start with the ladies on this -- team thing because really this is.

Going back and -- Now -- -- -- we'd understand here's something very fishy going on here.

Here's Susan Rice ambassador admission she has no line authority for -- she's not involved with US embassies overseas she's not involved with US intelligence it should have been the secretary of state it's.

It's to head of the CIA head of the FBI.

Who were out there talking about this to -- what this is as the administration knows.

That has been caught red handed this was not spontaneous it was pre planned it was not just in response to a YouTube video.

This is -- large movement it's going to grow throughout from the Mediterranean to Afghanistan.

I think the whole region is gonna potentially go up in flames and this is an attempt by the administration to get out in front of it to say it wasn't our fault.

It was just a response to -- a movie not.

Now Kate and I know that there's a question here as to why why why would the approach be this way because it because the the assumption there is that the trying to hide something from -- the.

And they know that their policies are -- that whatever is happening is not good it's not gonna look good right before the election so what they're trying to do is get out in front of it took place the blame elsewhere.

So nobody can blame them for a failed middle east policy.

If they're so worried about a movie -- YouTube movie.

What on earth is gonna happen when -- -- a lot of movie comes out -- movie that the administration worked on.

With Hollywood filmmakers.

If that's if they're worried about it -- spontaneous reactions to movies that it did to pick Muslims and a bad -- them -- a -- movie is gonna be the mother of all movies.

Steve you wrote a piece over the weekend and what do lines and struck out of me is that there is a pattern here and that's the case should make it.

Yeah I pattern of watching.

-- we've we've seen this before I mean what's been with an interesting if you go back and you look at.

The way that the Obama administration has responded in.

-- in the aftermath of previous attacks or attempted attacks.

There inclination is always to downplay these attacks -- suggests that there was nothing really that they could have done and that these were small attack.

So take for instance he attempted bombing of the airliner over Detroit on December 25 2009 remember three days after the attack.

And after the attacker Omar -- up noble -- had told the FBI.

That he had these had had worked with al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula you have the president of the United States three days later.

Claiming that he was simply quote an isolated extremist it wasn't true and they later had to back off that we saw the same pattern.

With the attempted bombing in Times Square with -- sources -- Where the administration came out in the form again and -- on Allen said but this is a one off event this guy doesn't have any contacts he's not -- involved with any terrorist networks and we later found out.

A week later.

Eric Holder attorney general had to come out and say that this had in fact been financed by the Pakistani -- on -- trained there.

Event coordinated and he'd been in fact been directed by that I do you think that there is motivation behind that explanation.

And that and the question again is why if you believe that.

Sure I think -- he has it right -- -- and look this is embarrassing 87 weeks before the election.

Basically this leading from behind Obama doctrine is up in flames in the Middle East it hasn't been effective we've seen the effects of -- I think.

That that the idea that the United States would be withdrawing from the region.

Withdrawing from Afghanistan withdrawing from Iraq lessening our footprint doing everything -- and two to take as sort of a step back.

It suggests that this has not work.

-- -- you write our producers earlier today that the administration is running scared.

I think Hillary from what.

Well I think -- and look if you look at the entire region is about to go up in flames it's all the way from the Atlantic Ocean to Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The Middle East the Arab Spring is being hijacked by Islamic extremists.

Egypt is that our brand which we embraces an anti American Muslim Brotherhood country Israel would never have poor relations with Israel they're feeling isolated.

Potentially makes more Washington.

More likely Syria is in flames of assassinations.

20000 people have already been killed.

-- -- American ally we fought a war there are now on a rainy and -- in the sense that -- helping the Iranians Iran closer -- nuclear weapons Afghanistan we're gonna end up shooting our way out because we gave a deadline that was -- Pakistan.

Point three billion dollars later.

America's considered public enemy number one in Pakistan so I think the entire region has been very badly mishandled -- the administration doesn't want that political -- around.

And Steve -- give -- the last word on this because suddenly foreign policy is front and center and it is all the headlines now.

Well it should be -- look look at what's happening in the world I'm a little bit surprised frankly that Mitt Romney who was sort of rushed forward.

Injected himself into the story in a way that I thought was was defensible if questionable.

Now seems to be backing off and not pressing the argument the he had made at solid substantive argument earlier.

I think it's surprising to see him back off a little bit and I would think that it would that he would want to press his case a little bit more.

We're gonna talk a little more about the politics next hour Brit Hume on all about the KT McFarland thank you Stephen Hayes thanks for your insight today expelled.
