There's a growing mystery around -- two former Navy SEALs who were killed on September 11 and -- Ghazi.

We are now learning that they were not assigned specifically to the protection.

Of ambassador Chris Stevens and that that night they were actually in a separate annex that was outside.

The consulate in -- Ghazi.

Allocation.

Was apparently known to be attackers.

Because it appears that they went from the consulate over to the annex as that firefight played out -- supposed to be a somewhat secret location.

So tragically these former seals.

It appears took it upon themselves to rush in and help in a situation that they were not assigned to -- And they then lost their lives in that fight we will no doubt learn more about the details of all of yes.

Now from the beginning the administration was -- about what their role as it took 24 hours to release the names of -- woods and -- RD.

-- -- Navy SEALs with multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Medical background as well.

-- in amazing.

-- made that these two men had.

Here is Hillary Clinton's in nationals initial statement followed by ambassador Susan Rice describing the reason that they weren't -- that -- -- listen to this.

Four Americans were killed.

They included Sean Smith and foreign service information management officer.

And our ambassador to Libya Cris Stevens.

We are still making next of kin notification -- for the other two individual.

We obviously did have a strong security presence and unfortunately two of the four.

Americans who died in Ben -- -- they -- to provide security.

But it obviously wasn't sufficient.

In the circumstances to prevent.

The the overrun of the of the consulate.

Here's part of the statement that Secretary Clinton issued a -- later when she did name the seals.

Quote today we also recognize the -- security person now is the way they were referred to who died helping to protect their colleagues.

Our embassies could not carry out on our critical work around the world without the service and sacrifice of brave people like Tyrone and -- So with that backdrop I'm joined now by -- -- who was friends with one of those heroes he knew them -- but was very close to -- RD.

He's also a former navy seal and train with them Mike thank you so much for being with us today.

-- tomorrow night for having me.

Tell -- does anything disturb you about the way in their service was presented and whether or not you know there was a suggestion.

That they were on that.

You know it's it's frustrating to say the least you know without having -- -- -- -- it's hard to.

Get a good good grasp of exactly how how went down but.

You know the big thing and I think that it that's important and then on focusing on is that.

You know England and tie.

Both went above and beyond what was asked of them to to help out in -- dire situation and I think it reflects.

Positively and and accurately on on the type of character that these two men had.

No doubt eight because it appears that they jumped in.

To help in a situation as I said that they were not originally designated to deal.

Do you believe you know that that if it seals if there was -- -- protection and -- you know had they -- there in the role of protecting ambassador Steven is that they would have had you know.

A good lay of the land that they would of understood more about the situation.

And train for -- and that is lead turned out differently.

The minutes and possible -- There without having been there and then known how exactly the whole scenario unfolded but without -- doubt if there -- two guys that I -- -- -- have.

You know transporting me around a country of it was being -- You know that I'm not surprised that.

You know that they volunteered and in you know did a quick reaction force type of type of movement to go help.

When help was needed because that's that's -- type amendment these two guys were in.

You know I think I think it's important for the country to realize that there's a lot of people.

Just like them who nobody knows about this that are continually doing work.

Such as.

Internationally via the news that is so important -- remember and to recognize.

And that they you know really gave their lives in this mission.

And as we say.

You know wasn't their original reason for being there in -- when you think about how this played out as I say we're gonna learn more details about it -- and as we go forward.

But but what we're learning so far is that it.

Ambassador Stevens was in the consulate that the firefight began at a house was set on fire that it then moved outside of that consulate area.

And that that the attackers went over to this and acts where Glenn and Tyrone war.

And that the fight continue to NC there and it does it sound to you.

Like with the ambassador was targeted in this situation -- that these people might have had some inside information that they might have.

Understood more about this property and the layout than originally understood.

I would say based on on how things unfolded.

They -- there would be incredibly difficult to deny the fact that.

You know that it was at least plans.

And that they had some some inkling of what was going on whether it's movements -- or locations.

Personnel etc.

Things like that don't don't happen spontaneously.

Especially when there's multiple locations that are.

You know fair distances apart and and I a lot of moving parts and a lot of people involved so.

You know that that aspect evidence it's it's pretty tough not not to draw that conclusion interest and.

I know that you last spoke to -- not long ago.

It can you share anything with us about what what he said he -- what you talked about or just anything about -- -- -- -- -- to -- -- -- Sure -- was you know one million does not not New England justices on finest men -- I've ever known never will know.

You know that the country is is forever.

Going to mourn the loss of of him and -- -- Gone I spoke not long before he departed on this last trip and my my dad works for gun near both my parents do and I -- is was like to have John Deere hats.

To Wear while he was overseas so.

He sent me a picture is it looked like -- been run over a few hundred times and and asked me if I get another one for one for when it comes home so.

I still didn't didn't get him another one.

And we'll begin -- his family here shortly but.

It just you know both guys were -- -- -- -- that.

You know at that time time there's not enough time to heal the -- always -- -- both these guys.

Well it's obvious in your voice and tell what you tell us how much you love them and we'll miss them and we thank you so much.

For being -- us today we hope they're more answers.

About this whole story thank you Mike.
