This as an intelligence report links this in -- terrorists the so called blind Sheikh.
Responsible for the 1993 bombing at the World Trade Center to the initial anti American riots in Cairo saying that his followers want him released.
He is as I -- serving time in prison is in North Carolina.
For the 93 World Trade Center bombing I'm joined now by Andrew McCarthy.
He is the author of spring fever the illusion of Islamic democracy he was also -- -- processes.
In the blind -- case into good to have you here this morning walk on Martha nice to be here you know.
What shirt you know sort of overall take on what we're hearing from the White House and what they known what they might not know at this point.
With respect to Libya.
It's mind boggling because if you.
Separate out whatever intelligence we may have had.
We knew.
During the Libya war because the Defense Department made this known.
That Libya per capita sent more jihadist to Iraq than any other country in the world to fight against American soldiers.
And the capital of the Jihad in Ben got in in Libya.
Is Ben -- in fact.
We brought Qaddafi in from the cold so to speak.
Not only because of his abandoning the nuclear weapons program but because he was giving us valuable intelligence.
On jihadist in his own country now.
You know for whatever reason we jumped in on their side.
-- in a war that.
-- there was no provocation against the United States but we have to know this is a bit as dangerous the places that gets on the planet for Americans.
-- -- so initially you know we're told it was about the video.
-- there is also reporting that it is they were interested in having a blind -- released.
Which I think most people believe is is not a possibility but isn't.
All of that just sort of giving a reason to sort of an underlying current and a bigger issue here.
You know you're absolutely right I mean -- that you -- good not to mention my book which is it and that's exactly what spring fever is about.
That dominant Islam of this region of the world.
Is Islamic supremacists and now that's not the way islam's interpreted everywhere but that's the way it's interpreted here.
And in their ideology.
The west is perceived as the enemy.
And they are trying to impose -- -- blasphemy standards and all other measures of Sharia.
On the west but -- rapidly anti American.
And all of this stuff whether it's the blind -- or the Teddy bears of the burning Koran so now the movie.
Is pre textual it it's really just the trigger for something -- -- all the time there.
How -- is -- about what congressman -- -- and just told us you know he said.
The property of that consulate should be as sacred as your as your own living room in terms of of how it should be protected.
Do you agree with that -- anything that there was a downfall in security there.
Well there certainly was a -- on security but we shouldn't have an installation there in the first place it's not a place that we can protect certainly not without.
A lot more people they are military people there than we had.
But you don't want that what I think is evident here even though people don't want to grasp that.
Is that where we're dealing with two different civilizations.
In our civilization.
It's true that a diplomatic insulation.
Should be -- sacred as your living room.
But they don't see it that way and it's it's odd that they have to continue to defy a the civilized standards of the west before we get the point that you know they're not fall on the program.
Very interesting Andrew McCarthy think you -- talk more about this with Ryan Crocker and a little while.
Many thanks good to have yes.
