Okay.

Yeah.

Good morning to the West Coast 11 AM protect take -- 2 o'clock on the East Coast will be talking about all kinds of things that.

Deal with technology you know latest news and how you can protect yourself -- and have some gadgets and today shows you know.

Depending on the week we have time to show some gadgets and -- have some exciting -- to talk about as well as.

Maybe ask -- your opinion on the whole new iPhone 5 and if you upgraded.

Your current iPhone the new operating systems and -- later on as you move on through the show first of all -- talk about security.

And -- so many of us are connected these days -- securities really something we should pay more attention to.

-- we talk about Internet security or security for your phones -- your products you have right now.

Lot times people glaze over in just a really don't wanna hear about -- don't want to -- time it's kind of a boring topic however.

As more people have the opportunity to hack into what we don't know what we use in everything from -- tablets to our computers to our our Smartphones.

It is important to bear to definitely keep a strong security profile on our first guest to talk about that.

He always originally -- about security for general -- -- to be security for everybody that's his gen Y the engine acts and as well as the baby boomers who are.

Getting into more of the technology as we move along and very Abdul.

Is gonna join us right now from San Francisco Barry.

As I had -- checkpoints consumer business ZoneAlarm you can follow him at ZoneAlarm on Twitter and by the way here at home watching right now obviously you're at home watching art work.

You can tweet us -- Adam -- you can go to our FaceBook page you can obviously chat live right here on foxnews.com.

And you can also.

-- go to the -- Fox News FaceBook page of a number of ways of staying -- very welcome.

I think -- for coming into the opposite San Francisco to talk about this important topic.

Thank you thanks -- on.

You don't.

I economics is in the open about how it's such an important topic at the same time people don't wanna talk about it -- it can be kind of a boring topic how do you keep people.

To be interest to -- wide gen X or whomever.

While the Whitney did you build interest and is by making a products simpler and easier to use.

And do a lot of surveys to find out what people are so we can guide them to the next steps.

The next steps you know as we talk about today just now we have.

Yeah we have can -- -- laptop computers at home computers you've got tablets you've got Smartphones and you know we talked about last week a couple weeks ago about how advertising really starting to get -- And the ability to now get into your Smartphone and connect with people is so much easier for for companies.

At the same time it's bloody your people the wanna -- -- Yes -- Arab you don't what what's happened is that the security landscape.

Has changed dramatically over the last ten years to ten years ago.

Hackers were a few kids in a garage who wanted to get fame from the fellow hackers.

And -- were doing at 40 you know -- and to have broad why harris'.

Ten years later on what -- -- now is defeat has moved onto cyber criminals.

Objective not a motivation now is to happen to -- but the -- to make money.

They want to get into your financial accounts they want to get into and -- have to.

And so now with even more crucial -- protect ourselves from cyber criminals.

It's cyber criminals have so many different ways they can get it to your your information now because people are -- -- on their Smartphones we saw with the new Apple iPhone and -- what a lot of the and what's out there you can carry your credit card information you -- your your plane flight information so many things is now are now kept on your mobile devices.

I know you have some ways -- -- -- ways that gen Y can protect themselves and others that's estrogen wife.

Really for anybody can -- -- go over those those ways people can protect them so well.

Elizabeth -- -- -- because when you look at January -- said that it has a lot of people that are protected out there.

To -- -- to go a little tips to do that so the stock -- the first thing we say is that.

Always keep your windows all -- system.

Updated.

It's easy to do doesn't have automatic updates window comes up with patches -- about just come up what -- need to do is is make sure that we.

Get updated.

Secondly.

I'm very important thing is that everyone should have some basic security.

-- -- basic security we mean it antivirus and a two with firewall.

It protected against that sort of the second to.

And that's good to previous.

That we need to watch out for.

Socially engineered attacks as -- said earlier and you you mentioned Adam is that our habits have changed.

We all on social networks we exposing a lot of information about ourselves and our friends.

And so what hackers do as are criminals do in this -- social media for information about us and when you put up more information about it people will.

-- -- -- targeted personalized.

Email us that -- that'll come into your system.

So it's very important for us to make sure the who've been good friend on the Internet and at the same time how much information we expose.

Yeah I know you do your job they're -- you went from hackers are criminals because that's really what we know people like to say hackers and and a lot of ways hackers tend to be.

In some circles up people that some.

Of those people online look up to having you might think of a -- area in some -- is being glorified -- really what do hacker is for the most part is a criminal and that's exactly what.

We're dealing with when you're talking about a hacker let's get back to that list -- that a couple of the wanted to ask you about those top ten things agenda accident -- -- and they barely anybody can do to protect themselves.

The republic that stood out for me one is I don't be -- happy actually had this conversation with my father all the time to so call me.

He gets frustrated.

Now he's someone he's become more tech savvy in recent years he gets frustrated because all of us and has all these pop up ads in different things happening on his computer.

It's because he's become click happy he quickly clicks on some -- -- thinks about it that's an important topic I assume right.

That was a very important topic you may have noticed but 101000.

Malicious sites are discovered every day by Google.

He's a fight for the mishandling a 1001 place.

101000 every day.

And these may be malicious or to start out with new ones coming up every day or -- of the hijacked by meld their people and criminals to get you -- So you need to be very careful before you click on links on site that you don't know.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- And see what leads to and if it doesn't lead to a place you know then don't be click copy as you said.

Right what about.

The other one I thought he was using his passwords passwords password -- once and all of us get frustrated with because you've got so many passwords for so many different things there are some secure.

Our sites out there you can join -- -- people your passwords together that are that are pretty secure what do you think about those sites that will.

Actually combine all your password under one basically heading -- one password.

What we do you think that's a good alternative if you do not want to crack about brewers what you need to do is get program like that.

And you know there's a program called robo form on -- spouse and consumers could use that.

But if we even go there the most important to remember is that enough people out there right now using 1234.

As a password.

Are using the word password as a password let's stop doing that guys because that makes it all one dribble.

So our advice was to -- this jewels strong fast workers choose eight to ten characters that -- -- -- and number two.

Try to use past bush when you mix up letters and numbers and symbols.

And if you do that -- gets very very hard for people who -- that.

Do not -- this same fast with the multiple sites especially for on line banking.

And your primary email.

But we should be unique.

Because if someone does hack into password as we know it's what happened recently -- was hacked and people know the pastor from Linkedin.

And what they would do is -- -- to try to get into or your accounts.

-- the password that's what really important to keep.

Many different passwords.

Borrowing -- whatever it was that the wife.

-- -- -- I don't think that white -- -- -- all the passwords use.

Ruble fall all parts bought another great thing -- -- there have been too good to just alluded to we've noticed this as marketers.

We've been at airports and -- -- people get so.

-- -- Obsessive to connect to a free -- for -- for -- thrilled about it.

But did do not know when he connected to unsecured network people -- -- stealing your data don't do so what one should do is look at the -- -- Israel would get provider -- not and -- -- -- VPN it's -- bush in private network.

You can use that from new war or the places and if you don't have a private network right you could use want to make -- free one is part shield.

And if you use that it did aren't even -- unsecured networks to secure it.

It's -- Bahrain simple terms though for someone who goes -- we -- the store a couple years ago we went to a coffee shop here in Los Angeles.

We we had a hacker with this a guy who wasn't a criminal thankfully called actor because it was a good hacker he was trying to find those doing bad.

And he quickly jumped online it was 25 people use in the Wi-Fi hospital -- 25 about.

You know 45 we're really easy to break into really quickly what is something something someone can do very basically that will help protect -- -- a Wi-Fi hotspots.

Just take -- -- -- your computer what.

Well it it is when you when you get there for -- to fall.

Make sure that it if has not secured torn don't log in if you do login -- VPN because that encrypt a no -- -- that why is that we can get.

All right very Abdul from except far ahead of checkpoints consumer business ZoneAlarm you can find -- -- ZoneAlarm -- thanks so much for your time.

A great tips we'll have you back again not again as wants a topic some people tend to.

Glaze over on it's extremely important especially this becomes more more easy.

Are easier to hack into all the things that we carry around each and every day very things in -- your time.

Thank you -- Right from San Francisco we have -- they were gonna break here were quick for us.

On tech take only come back we'll go out across the country a couple other great -- coming up four including -- Gadget segment at the end of the show so -- -- with this will be right back after this break.

All right welcome back it's eleven after the hour 1111 here in the West Coast to eleven on the East Coast we had our first guess who's ever -- talking about the importance of securing your.

Technology everything from your Smartphone -- -- a computer.

And how it's becoming even know we all glass -- we talk about security it's something it's extremely important for all of us and it saves a lot of time -- dealing with the fact when your stuff gets stolen.

-- -- to go up the coast is Seattle Chris -- joining us from cassava -- talk about.

All the stuff going on with this this updated version.

The new Internet Explorer bug and you know I don't -- ones updating I mean everything from IOS which of course is apple to Internet Explorer.

-- because a lot of updates in the last few weeks but this one.

Is one that's affecting the most consumers at the same time right.

-- -- -- Well I wouldn't say it's affecting the most consumers.

And unless you -- -- say that Internet Explorer still has the greatest market serve web browser so in that case how ever.

The the that exploits for this vulnerability.

Have only been found to be isolated to a few instances.

OK so I guess better way to put him like -- he clarified that.

It is is that it potentially could have a lot more but only fewest this -- what are they found what what's out there what what's happened basically could you know.

I saw some of this on line a couple of days ago -- a Twitter feed you could finest you could find some of that the technology sites it.

It's kind of got out the more mainstream media and the last day but for those who who don't pay as close attention to technology what does this mean.

Right right -- You know I work in this field every day so to me it's another vulnerability that we see every day it it is.

Substantial because it affects the web browser which is our our vehicle to the the Internet and the web.

However it's -- that's.

A little less critical than that because it requires you as a consumer to visit sort of a malicious site.

As you guys were talking about before there's a lot of them but you -- -- to be led in that direction to visit such a malicious site where they can exploit this vulnerability basically there.

There's -- flaw in the code.

Have Internet Explorer.

That allows an attacker to run some JavaScript in the web page and suddenly start running code on your machine -- -- -- running code on your machine.

They basically get a foothold and your machines infected at that point.

They can do what what they like depending on what level of privilege you have on your machine most people are logged in.

-- full control their computer so what will likely happen is an attacker would install some software on your machine just like traditional viruses and our -- Those tried to.

To own your machine and once they do they can use it to you but you guys are talking about before.

Go figure out your financial situation or they might just use you as a robot in a larger botnet to.

Start attacking other system.

Its.

Net it's an easy fix for those who have downloaded this.

How long did take first of all Microsoft to figure out that this have been compromise one and two.

How easy -- download it seemed like it's pretty easy fix when you read about it.

Yeah I mean the good news is they released quick fix right away.

That was released yesterday.

And by tomorrow they plan do you have on automatic windows update available for this.

So people who don't download the the fix the quick fix manually will automatically get it.

For -- for Microsoft.

You know they have.

They have a program in place that has been dealing of these issues for many years.

So when they hear something like this they immediately respond they start an investigation.

And days and -- start notifying the public the progress of the investigation.

And what the fix is going to be so what they found was that it was indeed a vulnerability.

That was found in the wild which means that people were actively exploiting it before it was reported to Microsoft.

And so they had a lot of pressure on them to sort of get -- -- out.

As soon as possible for consumers like you and me and also for the enterprises.

-- the I -- that they also have to support that Internet Explorer.

-- -- no I guess the basic thing we're talking about security with our last guest at a San Francisco is the easy way of really.

Avoiding this is just a continuously update your your your computer to go into updates see if there any updates for weather -- A PC or whether it be an apple product to go on their continually run the updates on it because of course.

The company's seems like are starting to get more on the front end of these things you mentioned the stuff was discovered really before it became.

That.

That problem that affected infected a lot more people made a lot more media or people spit it out they could have affected many more people they kind of before that.

Right right.

Yeah I mean that they -- it whether I would expect in the do and and and you know -- my work in the industry Internet and web security.

The thing to remember like you said is that we live in a world where we depend on a lot of software we have to keep -- updated all the time this is this is going to continue to happen it's happened in the past this issue is not new.

The vulnerability itself was.

Certainly a distinct and new vulnerability that we didn't know about before.

And just like you know I -- -- car analogy a lot because my my mom actually called me and asked me about this study to study is an explorer you know Germany's telling everybody to stop the isn't it.

-- might hold on a second you know.

This is the you know when -- car gets -- part recalled.

Do you switch brands or do you sell your car or do you go get it fixed you know.

It's just a matter what -- sort of perception about that as I mean I'll I'll take my -- -- get it fixed and I'll probably stick with the branding you drive and I'm happy to know they fix that issue.

People it.

You know ask me what I do what I personally do as I run multiple browsers often for different.

It's an area so I might have -- browser for sort of my social activities and other browser war mind.

Financial activities my online banking and and another browser for just random -- are in such an isolated things -- you know little paranoid than most and I'm not only one of those there's there's a lot of people in our industry that.

The sort of approach it that way and some that are even more extreme right.

But in general -- regardless release.

Yes but this argument.

So.

In general I think the situation room and -- on in terms of how Microsoft handled it was exactly I would expect -- to handle I'm not sure.

Why there was such an an and an outburst and in the public about this particular issue when.

We've seen several issues like this just in the last couple months -- related to job.

Flash and other software that we all use a lot.

Right Chris -- co-founder of cassava we appreciate your time again quick fix easy fix.

Out of it automatic update probably tomorrow as you mentioned and if you don't want what tomorrow which you shouldn't.

Just go to your updates and and run it really quick -- take a long -- smokers who really appreciate -- -- we'll -- you back -- for -- talking about.

The next threat which -- you know is pretty much a daily thing.

Tried things Adam thanks.

All right Chris.

We now move from Seattle's -- -- -- Cisco went to Seattle now we're to go to the heartland -- go to Memphis Tennessee were anyhow.

She's a CEO of Powell marketing strategies he joins us here -- -- Amy thanks for -- coming on today and talking about well you know the one thing that we talked about security the first two -- -- of the of this you know some of the things on Twitter some of those links can take you to -- and secure places and sites and so I don't get click happy that was one of our early things but.

With you know we want people to be click happy for good reasons you're gonna tell us how to -- could become a Twitter star.

Well I can't thank you so much for happening on the big.

And I can tell you had a accounts -- -- start at TP bit frequent communication is.

On Twitter is the way he'll -- her community people that support you.

Listen things that you can -- -- -- -- -- state by state quarters are very loosely there's some things you can do to become.

More of a standout on Twitter there's certain people you look at it like well how they get so many followers.

And there's people that you know that should have more followers than they do.

On the you have some some points here how to be -- stand out they know everything from -- often engage with followers is number one.

Offer relevant timely tweets and con tent what else do you have on -- -- the first two of the give us kind of a rundown of what you think there's a good way to become a Twitter standout.

There are gonna -- at the cat and bridges are an -- area border -- Twitter verse.

Any kind and -- a lot of people get on Twitter thing as saying they had seen.

Am.

And they -- -- be lottery -- we can't -- now.

-- -- -- -- -- Talk people in games you really create traffic great -- yes and I really and that I got a lot of friends.

In -- community that are becoming friends are like essay on talent -- -- -- you are playing against.

-- -- -- -- -- -- have -- to build the first five EF five more to help out too you know obviously being a superstar you see some people that are negative on Twitter.

That have a lot of followers but of course they're usually well known people but.

So this is for someone maybe who isn't so well known but seems to do -- really good job about building up those Twitter followers -- Good the other the other for the you have -- -- -- five as you say you have.

I include don't like it when celebrities say they don't get Twitter.

Our sort don't like was limited on to Twitter and also -- content that matters.

Give us a couple others there.

You know sometimes -- just an outstanding pass there don't be afraid just elitist I just see it in the literary way and I'll say.

All the people -- -- interest that's one -- eagle.

I really don't understand it out there are beginning you have to get on there can't people -- -- like yeah sometimes actually.

And -- better if others have to Wear on people in your life I think you're saying sane business -- -- Asking -- that you have and you'll get more and get it that way and enter its hour in all of I -- you don't.

I think I'll let Mac and of course and he had Alec -- that you're going to be able to edit them.

That he -- clear it out about caring and sharing your life.

That early it it paid out about it -- that bomb that.

Right you know that's one thing that if -- -- You know you have -- -- sometimes -- people leaving your friend to be like you know you probably shouldn't put that on there.

Tom but I think maybe -- this political season with the with the election especially.

I'm sure now the time depending where your political persuasions are you can really connect with with those people of like minds and and maybe build -- a -- little following.

I think -- -- I think you know all political analyst at -- controversy.

-- -- that they have negatives and a hat and the airport and -- apple -- that.

-- Twitter that racial politics or -- obviously England that was.

When the police the Twitter.

Out of any day with Twitter and -- Under the last elevations in and whether we have our local fox station here and count them as they left off and -- -- -- we left off let them.

In the morning that I'm often I would -- beyond what it.

Be careful too about -- -- About what you tweet what you might say.

Because you can also upset people and -- 11 topic that I've heard from a lot of my friends.

Who again are both sides of the political Lyle and a lot of cases and I have some friends I just can't listen anybody who supports President Obama -- -- have -- -- -- -- anybody who supports Romney.

And Dave.

-- you really going for that group.

Well and I know one thing an important and -- I think I'm wearing sweaters and consider that the FBE eight I thought.

That letter the FCC -- and a lot blogging that you have to know -- regulators are.

Even clear commitment you have to know the law because tweeting for help -- for example he ignited it but overall and we and -- -- -- -- I am talking about what they can not -- don't mind.

All right Amy how CEO -- marketing from Memphis Tennessee.

Love -- good town good barbecue and of course you can only ten -- going to see an Elvis right.

And it doesn't get any -- at all about the -- it anti -- for having me on this.

Sounds do we appreciate it all right from Memphis now we had a New York's in this contest almost every corner -- -- -- -- and able to Florida next week.

We're gonna had to -- baker in New York -- we haven't seen a couple weeks but now you're back and you've got some.

Some cool items and things to talk about today so -- a couple of jabs at the end but I wanna hear what you got Forsberg.

Very high Adam and welcome to New York.

So today we are upgrading your house into the 21 century and a few gadgets for.

If they can bring into your home the first artists start -- is called it clicking ground.

So this is for growing.

Arabs and vegetables at home.

I don't.

You know out California -- -- a little bit more luck but here in New York in my apartment and had a tough time this season trying to get my tomatoes or any diesel to grow on my windows itself.

So disagree alternative.

This is 5999.

And basically all you do is you have to add water to the system.

Then there's inside there's a light there's all the nutrients that you need and you just watch your product -- so many in order -- -- tomatoes chili pepper are.

It's awesome.

The next -- we're gonna go until it is an MP3 DJ digital doorbell.

This isn't fun -- bringing gas into your house the -- can load up to 2000 different songs on it sell.

You know any gas that you have coming to your house -- an alternate and it -- can have the same song played over and over again.

And it's also portable also say here in the backyard you can -- the speaker -- back with you and still here when people arrive at your house.

And that goes live like that yeah that's good fun it's 4999.

And then the final on that I'm checking -- caught in the trap so.

-- there's mosquitoes a lot of areas are having serious issues with bugs right now and this is a way to -- the mosquitoes without using any harsh chemicals.

This that kind of like a lamp it's really need Ahmet sleek design he can put it some land.

It's battery operated seat on the plug into the wall you can even -- outside your -- -- your -- Bring along with -- and it draws the bugs in -- Unless system of carbon dioxide and LED lights and they don't hold -- mosquitoes in their seat can then release them.

And that goes for 8999.

Why would you want to release the mosquitoes go on -- -- bug friendly I.

I'm not I don't know.

-- and probably the most but probably the most bug animal and insect.

Friendly place on the planet and I got to FiOS I love the bugs effort when they -- them you know I don't feel like the sound of that.

Full list of Mandela and out and let you want to bikes and on there and this totally is you're used to hear that that buzz like five seconds -- really got a big one.

Going to sit back into the Hudson is so well it's exciting you know harsh chemicals and you know what it does but cruelty it -- Really -- even if it is a mosquito in some cases I really want to feel after I've gotten bitten so.

I would -- couple put things we get back to you wanted this kind of -- -- I had just tried out yet but.

It's called secure arrived five.

Fries and all -- and Alvin is the name of it is basically touch screen wireless router.

That extends the range of your router in your house.

And it's something that you know I have had a chance to show the last couple weeks I'm glad -- today because only people up problem with the routers -- certain rooms this is cheap it's touch screen.

This -- on the other side it's it's pretty cool to -- things quickly.

This is one of the new had a meeting I get had -- out all the time was of audio tech -- technicolor.

Quiet point resist it reduces the environmental noise when 95% seeks to read only a light -- -- there's so many had phones out there are now.

You can get great headphones for affordable price -- -- Texaco and -- nose for a couple years that these particular ones but they're great.

And the last what I showed us a while back -- started to we ran out of time.

This is the baby was Pro Bowl Blair it's basically a Ferrari.

Your hair clippings systems and and I'm not gonna cut my own hair I have enough problems with just brushing my teeth which you know I do multiple times a day mom.

Some kids and wife.

-- -- But this thing is like superior cutting I mean I don't know.

I can't come my own hair but whoever does cut their -- this thing is legit it says it is it is like the Ferrari of razors and even says it's a Ferrari motor inside so.

Bob and I think his -- when -- new iPhone upgrades every been doing the ILS.

Right actually your iPhone 44 S upgrades with the new operating system if you had that five of course -- How does an operating system a lot of the different products -- -- that work with your iphones now also have upgrades I shower we showed us in the past.

That now has yet app on your phone.

Gonna have to upgrade a lot of these apps and make sure you go to the App Store look for the upgrades.

Because there are a lot of them that are having to change.

Now that the new Iowa system is out and by the way -- down on the new Iowa system it takes forever.

So make -- appreciate your time from New York.

Agree I think -- should try out all right Cabrera and then we'll have viewers to rate how well you you know use the Ferrari of -- -- now.

You're now at midnight and yet I can shave my head I think cutting the background because it it is just not there clippers again right on the Internet and.

All right so front and the -- Riviera Los Angeles -- -- used to work a long time ago we first started him much gonna date myself.

We -- to Seattle San Francisco -- this New York we're gonna go back to New York for Juliette and as yet a lot of talk about in the entertainment world lot of stuff going down today.

More people doing some really odd things which of course we talk about.

Throughout the day from here in Los Angeles bureau -- now go back to -- thanks again for watching tech take.

We now go to New York.
