That we've all reference I make and we've admittedly said kind of -- of Dr.

-- record you know for whatever reason.

This is the band's fourth record and their first of all new material in more than a decade.

In between -- you sort -- we did it the greatest hits record with the -- new songs that we toward that.

So if for us there was you know there was always solo record and then records -- records and -- that it was always kind of cleaned out the parts of the I mean it works I mean I think here we're we're all we're all friends of friends for a long time we all kind of very aware and precious about everybody's life -- their time and make sure that everybody's kind of weird you know we were more understanding that we were we were younger.

That other people there's certain things you need to do we need to China make everything work on everybody's life as when you have -- -- -- -- more open you have good communication.

-- on the -- early albums frontman Rob Thomas was the sole songwriter but this time around the group decided to make it a more collaborative effort.

The beginning of the record all started with the idea of the three of us but what are we felt like it right together with his band sound like that songwriters automatically going to be a little different because it's not coming from the same source as coming from its collaborative effort.

And there's this kind of -- it's great feeling that comes out of you know to collaborate with -- that you played with for so long.

Matchbox Twenty hits the road this fall and we'll kick off -- North American tour early next year.
