Like a girl it's an organization that's setting up skateboard workshops camps and organizations for young girls and for adult women but it's for a girls only perk us.

And joining me once again -- and -- she's the director of the Seattle chapter she joins me.

Again -- -- we've fixed our microphone issues so let me ask you how did you first get involved with the organization obviously you enjoy skateboarding.

Yeah -- -- -- -- skateboarding in 2000 and I skateboard with -- is because that's all that I -- when I sobbed.

I is doing everything still remain.

-- contact her owning companies throwing contests and in 2006 I heard about it all girls -- -- so and actually I was really excited about it and curious.

Went out to back contests it happened to be hosted through -- like a girl.

I would just moved got this Seattle to start running programs there.

And so I showed up and I saw girls and ripping skating super hard -- -- girls behind a microphone announcing the tricks I saw girls filming goes taking photos.

Girls watching an encouraging each other and I just thought to myself wow.

This is what I wanna be this is what I want to help create for other girls and so just from then on I started volunteering.

In any way that I kid.

Now.

-- that's -- well I want to show some pictures we got and we can actually see girls on the skateboard because.

In all honesty you don't see a lot of girls on their skateboards when -- when -- out in public can see.

In your at a local park for example you see -- -- -- on the skateboards on.

On everything that they shouldn't be skating on actually.

But.

I mean would you say the women are easily received by the skateboarding community.

It's hard to say it really depends.

Skateboarding is male dominated -- like you said people are obviously going to be.

A little weird it out -- little.

You know intrigued by -- so sometimes.

I'll let it escape park and it's almost like and getting you know -- didn't -- that you know and guys are yelling things other times -- get completely ignored.

But I think the more girls participated.

I'm it's just becoming more and more normalized and yeah less of the big deal and we're just starting to fit in and -- take up space and you know.

-- some ownership of a part of skateboarding and you know get back to it and I hope people respect that and and we continue to be well received.

We're lucky here in Seattle we do have a lot of awesome support from.

Local shops.

All the way up so you -- local city government department -- neighborhoods.

-- -- -- -- A court accept the web -- is skate like a girl dot com and the organization.

Has a message behind it does it go beyond simply skateboarding.

Yes definitely -- its fair share -- and skateboarding and just from my personal involvement.

It wasn't just about skateboarding that is about mentoring other girls -- about instructing other girls is about community building.

It's about making partnerships I'm getting involved on civic level being gauged.

Yeah -- is definitely about exclusivity.

Partnering and all that good stuff.

Where do you see this going from here I mean you're in Seattle earlier this part of the Seattle chapter.

Skate like a girl do you see -- kind of spreading nationwide and catching on what's the future for this organization.

I think we're less concerned with I am -- more chapters we have chapters in Portland San Francisco right now I think.

Our main goal currently with our board here in Seattle is two create stability -- organization and right now -- A volunteer program coordinator and the chapter director go out to events.

But it would really awesome to have a full time -- -- that's.

In our -- guess I -- and we'll continue to be.

You know we also hope to expand programs right now we're doing -- programs.

An after school programs and -- public schools.

We're doing what's called ladies nights and ready but skate -- so.

Think it's it's less about expanding.

And east or west or north or south they think it's more about just creating a more solid program here in Seattle.

Where were based and have a lot of awesome to -- sport already.

Can tell you -- -- did that does expanse of these -- is a lot of people over here on our coast.

No probably love to get involved they know a lot of girls -- into skateboarding there's really no platform for a afterschool programs like this are great because it keeps -- kids out of trouble for those.

Scored into sports or any other kind of school related programs so.

Bring it on just let it snow let me promote could have.

-- and you want us to come -- well we've been coming out to New York for the last several years and cool like that so we're definitely -- accounting.

Have a visit.

All right okay cool state like a girl dot com once again as the web site and we think our Chris snuggling for talking to a she's the director with the Seattle chapter possibly going to be spreading east she was sitting -- -- who -- State students are -- thank you so much.

Of course thank you -- we are gonna take another.
