Say.
Hi we are moments away we're told from president Obama's speech at the United Nations General Assembly.
That he has arrived and that he will file the Brazilian president who is finishing her remarks right now.
Let's bring in in the meantime KT McFarland who is standing by to -- -- KT -- you have written speeches for presidents at the United Nations.
What do you expect -- today.
Please talk to two audiences the domestic and international audience he has to say very different things through them but mark I can't help but jump -- Everybody is missing the point about why Obama is not meeting these world leaders because in -- election year.
It it is the responsibility.
Of the leaders also meet with the opposition candidate.
Romney has a right to meet with all of those world leaders to if Obama does Obama doesn't Romney just saying and so they don't the administration doesn't want to get Romney.
And in those pictures with world leaders -- -- present shall.
They don't want it they get nothing out of it if -- -- with these leaders he gets everything out -- -- looks presidential.
He looks like he's you know he's the ability to beyond that world stage if Obama needs what and doesn't get anything -- -- very -- a very interesting point Katie but you know what he might squander President Obama in the process.
Of trying to avoid that different strategies day.
Is the opportunity to to do the job of being president I mean this is this is a critical.
Moment as -- went -- have to tell you.
It unfolding here in the Middle East and I and I think doesn't it beg the question.
Innocently.
And getting the job description at this moment.
Yeah but you know what if I -- in White House's during election years -- job is to get reelected they figured out take your ball bat in the second term.
And they don't have a whole lot to gain by -- -- might -- your risk here running is known Bibi Netanyahu of Israel.
For forty years they finish each other's sentences they were co workers together right out of graduate school.
What Obama can't risk is that chummy relationship between -- and Netanyahu in that photo op when in fact I'll be a photo -- of Obama and Netanyahu doesn't look very happy talk remember that picture in the White House at their last meeting -- body language search or whatever understanding is -- -- each other.
That is not what the Obama administration wants right now.
Yeah I mean you look at what Mitt Romney is talking about in the speech that he gave -- the Clinton Global Initiative which was to be focused on Barney is -- spent a lot of time on that.
But he did else's you know sort of put in there his concerns about.
The incredible things that we questioned -- in the Middle East.
And you know including the assassination of one of our ambassadors at a country that we give.
A lot of money to -- you know violence erupting across the Middle East in so many of these places that we consider.
To be allies and that we certainly have pumped a lot of money in -- I mean what.
What do you expect the president to say to a dress sort of -- disparity when he gets up there.
What he's got to do to his domestic audience in fact it actually has a really hard job in the speech of the domestic audience what he's got to say.
To Jewish voters in Florida if I'm sticking with Israel don't worry I'm not throwing Israel under the bus.
What he's got to say to -- international audience that was really just the opposite he's got a -- down that anti American sentiment.
And he's also got a reassert America's leadership position in the world.
He's got to show that -- are relevant to world events this is not -- -- -- -- got out of control that we're kind of reacting to you.
At the same time he's got to show the domestic audience look it up they.
These and things have happened in the Middle East they're not our fault that bad assassination.
Nothing to do what my policy and so he's really got to -- two completely different messages.
At that UN -- so I think what -- or is are really.
A land.
Boring speech -- it says nothing.
You know.
Tony Blair this morning said -- it's better to be feared than loved basically.
And that it he suggested.
That this administration is too concerned with being lot.
Well he's absolutely right at me and my long experience with -- and being a Republican administrations.
And that really -- -- Republican administrations as that -- seek to be loved.
Instead of being respected -- -- you end up being neither if you are respected and feared especially assay with Reagan you'll end up being lob -- don't go out if I think it apparently if your kids don't try to be their best friend.
Down -- -- have them live view the whole point is to get them to do what you want them to do.
