It's a different sorry having a bad week in and is only Monday ABC news senior White House correspondent Jake Tapper joins us beginning today good evening -- -- -- you out so don't say tell me how does some White House respond to the question of why because -- of state Hillary Clinton is me with -- president Afghanistan.

Press and the president Libya and -- Obama is not in the present is not meet with prime minister Netanyahu.

Well they're they're basic answer when asked about this we've been asking about it for quite some time.

Is the one that you just heard Jay Carney explained the idea that.

The schedules to nonaligned President Obama is in New York Monday Tuesday and then going back prime minister Netanyahu.

Will be in New York later in the week.

But it is true that last year when President Obama was here for the UN general assembly.

He had at least a dozen meetings with world leaders and having covered President Obama since he took office.

This is an anomaly this idea that he would come here and and not have meetings with world leaders there really isn't.

A full explanation it's been forthcoming other than the president has a busy schedule.

Is my recollection correct I think last sentence prime minister Netanyahu comes here to Washington to meet him so it's not just so much that they -- in the same place -- in the both of planes.

Right and end of course this is awesome and it did dispute between the US and Israeli governments the Israeli government.

Has told ABC news that they put in an official request they would have prime minister Netanyahu come to Washington DC as you know it is a 35 minute flight.

And the White House says that there was no official.

Request I don't know where the truth lies in that computation but.

The bottom line is this is just another example of the fact that prior President Obama and prime minister Netanyahu have.

If not a rocky relationship not the smooth this relationship that has ever existed between an American and Israeli leader.

Is there anything you about the fact that sec of state Hillary Clinton is the one -- me with the head of state of Libya.

And of Afghanistan.

And our president is not she's nude -- -- met earlier today with both of them.

I don't know that it's unusual she has a pretty big portfolio and she's a fairly respected member of the cabinet and and -- certainly President Obama.

-- good having her conduct those meetings in.

Isn't intended as I mean she's she's not just like some junior -- he's sending in his stead.

That's sad.

It's unusual that he's not meeting with world leaders at this UN general assembly meeting and -- and certainly this friction.

With Netanyahu.

Is unusual and symbolic I think in some ways of of the tension that's existed you know -- -- I think that.

Jeffrey Goldberg who is good analyst of the US Israeli relationship says that neither President Obama -- Prime minister Netanyahu is blameless in this relationship.

And although obviously between Israel and US are strong allies in the military cooperation.

As possibly never been stronger their relationship as leaders.

Has had its.

Fractures and and -- know what we've seen them in these were the last few days.

What is the controversy that has been growing about the ambassadors.

Diary his send his journal that there's been -- back for that was discovered.

Not by the US government but by a journalist for CNN.

-- after.

The US side government's wild -- the compound and Ben Ghazi.

After the -- -- a CNN reporter.

Found you went went on the grounds and found a copy of the late ambassador Stephens.

Journal.

After that it gets -- -- murky.

But -- the bottom line is the State Department.

Alleges.

That CNN.

Originally.

Gave.

Ambassador Stephen Stanley Vito rights to decide whether or not they -- report what they saw in the journal.

I'm not exactly sure what CNN's.

Response has been other then.

That they have tried to bend over backwards to -- it communicate and coordinate with the family of ambassador Stephens.

And with the State Department.

The bottom line is I think it's fair to say.

Those people in power who don't want to talk about these security failures.

At the compound.

Are more eager to talk abounds CNN.

And they're reporting practices and then.

They're internal discussions about how to use this journal than they are and its argument about what I think is probably much more consequence -- quite consequential question which is.

Why was security so bad -- -- more of their intelligence failures.

What what is going on in the Middle East right now in terms of how prepared the US is four incidents like these.

-- -- covered it got a couple White House's I'm curious what the relationship between the press and this White House is the press in the last administration is any -- compare and contrast.

Well I only filled in.

A couple times during the Bush Administration.

So I can't really.

Judge as a general rule I think it's better than -- not be in media critic but I I think it's imperative that.

That we -- where they -- to ask -- tough questions.

Whether they're Democrats or Republicans.

But it's it can get a sense that day and in acting and being here and is as access about the same as it usually is for the -- -- -- -- this error push and pull between.

Any administration and a journalism but -- me get this about.

From what you -- -- sent to the same access.

I can only speak for myself and I've been -- that by officials of the Obama administration and I've been yelled at by officials of the Bush Administration but generally speaking I think.

White House is respect reporters who ask tough questions as long as they're fair and and impartial in their coverage and that's that's been true in my experience with both bush and and Obama.

Pretty equal opportunity L that that's good anyway take thank you.

Thank you --
