One out of the follow up on the story that was breaking during his broadcast yesterday the Senate's highest ranking -- ranking Democrat attacking governor Romney on their shared Mormon -- Some other mormons and other face are now lashing out.

At senate majority leader Harry Reid for telling reporters the governor Romney is quote not the face of organism and suggesting that the governor quote.

-- lead his -- You talk congressman Jason -- it's as a member of the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints and a member of the house committee.

On oversight and government reform.

Congressman your reaction to those comments.

You know that's the kind of gutter politics I think people of -- -- just thought it was a shameful embarrassment for the the majority leader of the United States senate to make it's so personal.

And really throw the religion under the bus is just inappropriate it's it's just there's no room for it.

It should be called out when it happens and and I just that he was a -- -- shameful embarrassment.

We had we had Frank Luntz on yesterday when the news broke and he did think that this was an effort to put.

Mormon is in front and center in this race to try to scare people who don't understand the religion or gin up prejudiced against the religion as a Mormon.

Your thoughts on that.

Well.

I've actually been proud of the electorate you know really hasn't been front -- I think America has grown up in many ways.

But then when you have somebody who is an -- of Mormon somebody who is the senate majority leader.

Try to drag it back in in and start calling names in and throw the religion under the bus that's what makes it so sickening.

And so so absolutely wrong so.

I think most of the country gets this but obviously senator Reid doesn't.

It is -- being used do you think by folks who would like to see the president reelected or do you think this is just an organic thought that he decided to share with reporters.

-- I.

I don't think this was some spontaneous thing he certainly did apologize for it afterwards.

-- I think his senate Democrats who put them into this leadership position have got to call somebody out on this.

Imagine if Republicans -- done the same thing instead these things about the president imagine the uproar that would happen.

I mean it principle -- -- prince what he always got to stand on and enact its kind of by disappointing that said there haven't been suns some senate Democrats say that have.

May be weighed in on this as well let.

You know who better to attack Mitt Romney than than Harry Reid I don't know -- it's just it's just wrong it's gutter politics and it should be called out what.

Does Harry -- get a pass and -- -- -- senate majority leader I assume you're you're in the year in congress it when you're the majority leader in the house speaker.

I expected to set some sort of an example.

To represent all Americans to some extent it.

Hopefully restore some of that the trust and a high opinion that Americans once had of our lawmakers on Capitol Hill I mean.

You tell me do that because Harry Reid has -- a lot of controversial things when John McCain was running.

Against Barack Obama he -- John McCain erratic some believe that was a reference to John McCain's age he said he couldn't stand McCain was a long term colleague.

Of -- he said.

Mitt Romney couldn't be confirmed as a dog catcher and -- came out and suggested Mitt Romney based on nothing.

Did not pay federal taxes for ten years which we all know -- now thanks to the -- around these accounting firm is just not trailing now that's.

Well again tonight.

You got at some point hold the senate Democrats all of them accountable they're the ones that.

Elect -- this leadership position -- tomorrow they can take him out of that leadership position but they seem debt.

Encourage it -- -- the fact that they're silent on these matters.

And I really think the country gets -- you know.

When President Obama then candidate Obama campaign -- we're not red states and we're not Blue States re United States.

I -- who disagrees with that but look at the way they actually -- look what Harry Reid actually does.

And that's just in America should not stand for that we're better than that.

But it starts at the top and I think Harry Reid has a much higher than a bar to reach it he can't keep these are mistakes I think they're calculated.

Two for his own personal political gain that what's that's what makes it's -- or.

Governor Romney responded to Fox News when we reached out to him about the comments and said quote he can say whatever you'd like to say this is not a race about Harry Reid.

Jason Javed thanks so much for being here.

Thanks -- -- season.
