Now governor Romney believes that would even bigger tax cuts for the wealthy.

And fewer regulations on Wall Street.

All of us will prosper.

In other words he double down on the same trickle down policies that led to the crisis in the first place.

And small businesses typically pay tax -- the individual tax rate.

And so our individual income taxes are once I want to reform make themselves -- wanna bring the rates down.

By the way don't don't be expect to get a huge cut in taxes because I'm also -- -- deductions and exemptions but by bringing rates down.

Will be able that lets small businesses keep more of their money so they can hire more people.

And that was President Obama attacking Mitt Romney's camp pledges on is tax rates in a new two minute ad that is airing in swing states across the country.

This president tries to emulate a kitchen table sit down.

With voters and that was Mitt Romney defending.

His tax strategy at a rally in westar -- Ohio and this Internet is power -- hello Internet how we doing I'm Chris -- Walt.

And it's Thursday here in DC.

And the campaigns are back and forth back and forth this time.

They are in Virginia they were in Ohio yesterday in their dueling back and forth.

Mitt Romney is looking to keep a little positive direction going now.

It's addressed to dig in on the president on the economy we will talk about that will be joined by your friend judge entered a volatile to talk about foreign policy in light of the latest news that tells us that in fact the Obama administration knew within 24 hours.

That what happened and Libya.

Was a terrorist attack not a mob action we'll talk about that we will talk to delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton about DC statehood which is a favorite topic of mind.

We will -- -- manager we will have PowerPoint it's a delight for you today Internet I hope Q are bracing yourself by your bracing yourself here from -- like -- Who will talk about Republican messaging strategy.

So we will do that with Brad but first.

Let's talk to John Roberts who was so close was so near at hand -- is out in Springfield.

Virginia which is just out there in suburban Washington John welcome back to the big show.

Thanks thanks it's it's almost like we did reach out and it's just a little too far.

I won't I would I will not try to reach out will we were limited to this Internet connection I promise.

So what's important what is the what is -- -- talking about today.

Although one -- -- -- the good doctor veterans here to get the support of 45 medal of honor recipient.

One of them in person and he's going to be talking about.

The effects of the movie sequestration defense cuts here this -- you know -- Virginia is state that has a lot of military presence here around the DC area course down in Norfolk.

Where the president is today and Mitt Romney will be talking about potential effects of that and sequestration and advancement it's estimated to that in this does not just about the military.

But small businesses that serve the military is estimated by some folks.

As many as 65000.

Jobs -- could be lost and small businesses.

If the sequestration is defense cuts go through and.

And when he is striving for thirty.

He's trying to keep continue to push the message back on the economy right now yeah.

When there's a day that's it's all about the economy you know -- -- talking -- military cuts were you talking about the reduction of GDP.

They came out today -- -- one point 3% for the second.

Quarter it does all come back from the -- UConn we should -- you.

They've just announced another rock.

Outside of Philadelphia.

Feel really don't have kind of been on military theme going here.

But really -- does all come back for the today in Ohio.

We stopped bus trip in the Columbus outside of Cleveland and.

And -- -- that's all that the governor was talking about had a big debt clock behind -- but it also drew fire from the Obama -- yeah.

What we're what we're not hearing from mother on the campaign is a great detail on exactly how his economic plan would work and how his tax plan would work so.

Maybe the Romney campaign that will finally -- some detail even though it did promises four days ago that we're -- -- see their level of detail and really haven't.

John Roberts.

We wish you could stop by DC bureau while you're here you -- the -- Beck hits the road back us.

The road victories were off the Philadelphia.

Later on this afternoon and then obviously Wayne Pennsylvania tomorrow morning's action.

You know what I always say you can't hit a moving target releases more difficult -- so that's -- my conclusion of these.

That -- an army on the march.

John Roberts we thank you very much actually -- OK Brad there so here's the thing is that what you heard in that percent of -- which you heard John talking about the Romney campaign promising specifics promising more -- promising more specifics and then they issue specifics and then the specifics get chewed over.

What I wrote today in my power play which by the way you can have just for following me -- -- -- well it's just right there I don't know why you wouldn't do it for goodness sakes.

But what I wrote is.

Enough with the talking about the specifics -- -- clear bold terms if you want to win because the president is certainly happy to keep Mitt Romney on the defensive in explaining and defending his strategy.

You have to make news and the way you make -- is going to series venues to lay out.

That's where you can talk about policy and then use the rally is to do exactly what you suggest.

And give the bullet points that you want.

Voters to be able to remember and repeat.

They have an affinity for -- 2000 bush -- the public to remember just a few things he's a compassionate conservative he's a reformer with results and -- -- be left behind.

Those three things were repetitive.

They were positive and voters could understand what they -- and take an affinity to them as opposed to what the other was -- That's what you got to do a campaign as about a repetitive message to get people to like you.

Number one and buying into your you're and understand understanding is that -- as.

It was for -- world at an alarming headline.

And this morning and Politico that said that that Romney plans a fact check approach.

To the presidential debate.

That is -- scheduled for Wednesday in Denver.

That he's going to be a human fact checker is out on us agent and they gave referenced Ronald Reagan's famous line from -- only there was only one presidential debate in 1980 Ronald Reagan vs Jimmy Carter -- combat.

And Ronald Reagan famously said there you go again.

And the Romney -- -- they're gonna do the same thing and then they're going to tear down president Obama's attacks on Mitt Romney.

That strikes me as crazy.

That strikes me as a crazy thing to do what Reagan was doing with Carter was dismissing museum absolutely and then -- now let me tell you what I wanted to tell you anyway -- let people know how bad things are.

And -- they don't need the repetitive.

How bad things are what you need to do is make the difference between.

How bad things are and then what you gonna do to correct them that's offense the offensive that -- anyway it -- How could be respectful but you also have to be biting.

And and factual and I think what probably needs to do is in order to play games in sports yet -- offense defense but you have to know.

-- to take the field and and how you can score you don't score played defense -- -- playing offense but you could rock the president back and look what the telemundo.

Present her into the press yes he sliced and diced and it is very respectful but factual way and that's -- Well OK so as.

As Romney goes around it -- so right now he's trying to talk about national defense.

He's receiving this endorsement these things are important.

Because not having the foreign policy portfolio.

Some other challengers.

Not having -- been -- Central -- he wants he wants that.

So how do you strike the right balance between what he's doing today tomorrow and dealing -- military veterans and those issues with trying to pressure attack on the.

President as John Roberts suggested the speech has to be that the military to bring it back to economics.

Which he's doing on sequestration he's telling -- not only will -- our national security but it's gonna hurt the economy 65000 jobs are -- -- be lost.

In the first wave of the sequestration.

Cutbacks so by Romney.

Giving some -- TDs on the military understanding what their concerns are both from the economics and national security.

-- new home always act the economy because that's where his muscles -- And now as -- gets ready for the debates we know the president is giving and it's just very intensive debate preparation.

Is gonna spend much of the coming weekend doing that.

Romney's been using Rob Portman senator from Ohio.

Went to say seems less like Barack Obama than almost anyone in the universe is -- -- -- other than I don't know I I don't know who else.

Maybe our next guest entered politics on that it would be less light would be less like Barack Obama -- I can't think of anybody who's less like part -- Donovan Rob Portman that reprimands -- -- dual channel Obama.

And he really good he's really good oh yeah he's got a Rob Portman is really good he can do it -- -- look what McCain said McCain after their preparations and I hate.

A rock port -- to this day because Rob Portman takes it.

Right or wrong and and he he's he's somebody who is great on facts great -- attacks and can really push back against the candidate like most.

Like -- -- could.

And day here's what.

DSL seniors says debates who thinks the debates we'll tell us anything knew who thinks folks who have not been listening will listen to the debates who thinks folks who don't care about what's happening care after the debates.

Who thinks that we're setting ourselves up for a big let down the day after the first debate.

-- you're right -- obviously because unless one of them falls down.

Or makes a but I custody if Costas or -- -- in some -- during the debate that the the the concept of the game changer.

Political press loves to do nothing more than talk about -- a -- just to make or break moment.

Well none of them are but what they do is they add up to something else they add up to a picture and this is a chance for Mitt Romney.

To make some brush strokes about his image it is not like after the debate polls are gonna swing fifty points in the other direction.

But what the debates are are -- Romney and and if he doesn't seize on this the moment will be lost to him.

Just to take the -- you say -- thirty million Americans watching let me talk to you now.

-- and it's on filtered threat that you know you what we've had on the Republican side is we've had mainstream media who is basically an adjunct to the campaign.

So they're there every day they go out they tell the American people what to thank.

Now the American people going to be able to see in real time and they try to spin something the American people -- is not true it hurts the credibility of the press is reporting we've seen it this week in the.

Only like we've got any credibility left Bradley -- -- -- well I just it's mostly because of -- -- it's the rest with a 60% believe that the media is not there now spread we have to go but we've neglected to point out that you are of course former advisor to bush the elder and bush the younger that you are a Republican.

-- good standing.

In the that you are a so far as so far -- professor at the Georgetown University thank you for being with us.

When we come back Internet a treat for you don't.

Judge entered a volatile -- will be back with us and he will talk about -- breaking news on Libya.

That the administration knew within 24 hours of the attack -- Ben -- that it was a terrorist attack.

We'll talk about all that we'll get more your chance and we come back to stick around.

And that.

Has been the scene across much of the Muslim world for nearly two weeks 42 weeks as anti American protest burn.

Across nations that comprise a billion and a half folks around the world.

And this is power play and welcome back.

Now today the news is broken Bret -- who continues to be the lead dog.

On this story.

As confirmed in fact that within 24 hours of the now infamous attack on the US consulate in Ben Ghazi.

That it was known to officials inside the Obama apparatus.

That it was a terrorist attack that we had to wait eight days to hear that.

From the White House and we had one day where the administration seem to hold very firmly to the notion that this was a spontaneous event.

What is the bigger picture on this and what is.

What are we to make -- it.

Judge entered college Condo is the Fox News channel's senior judicial correspondent senior legal or senior Judith senior judicial I think it's -- -- generals to step.

I'm seeing here.

But yet but I knew you loved him and I hope by the way I should say that -- you are reading what he writes -- read -- -- yes so on Thursday as the judge -- at foxnews.com you can find -- in the opinion section a very good column and I praise it each time he's here.

But this week was not only very good but it was -- you didn't know that the news was did not know that that -- is gonna break I wish I had -- They're not paragraphs tell Brett next time get -- before deadline race.

I mean what we we we now know that the Obama administration has materially and substantially misled the public probably because they they believe -- somehow help.

The president's reelection -- what he doesn't want to say terrorism that's a word he doesn't want to come out of his mouth right.

But but we we now know that what most Americans using their sense of reason.

New shortly after this happened this was not -- by this.

The murder of our ambassador.

The murder of some staffers who were former Navy SEALs the destruction of our property and the murder of other folks in other cities where these rights -- These were not.

Spontaneous reactions.

To -- cheaply made -- Fifteen minute trailer with voices stepped in and no plot no.

No seriousness here that was Lawrence of Arabia now know that -- that is just silly excuse.

That even leaders in the Arab world have projected that the essence of my article this morning -- Look Qaddafi was a bad guy.

So are a lot of strong man in the Arab world.

Bad guys.

There -- a lot of bad guys and all across the world correct every hemisphere he was an ally of the United States.

He had destroyed 72 inspection whatever nuclear capabilities he had.

He had been the recipient of American foreign aid and George W.

Bush when he was president -- Tony Blair when he was prime minister of Great Britain.

Both publicly referred to him.

As an ally in the war on terror I don't defend his behavior -- -- right I attacked the ability.

The legal ability of the president of the United States unilaterally.

Without a declaration of war from the congress can get -- -- the congress is on spring break.

To bomb a foreign country a sovereign legitimate government in order to -- -- in this case to kill their leader because we are now left with a government.

So powerless they cannot protect -- -- cannot protect American real estate and our relationships.

With them.

Is so -- that even our intelligence agencies can't anticipate these things before they happen all that occurred in my view.

Because the president on his -- Unlawfully deceptively and unconstitutionally decided.

To kill colonel Qaddafi so be what is the legal term the fruit of the poison tree or something -- -- -- gotten that close that -- that I hope that that's closely the -- -- here is the killing of -- the fruit that is.

Any government.

Which is a puppet of of the militias and is arguably controlled by the militias in the streets rather than by a serious powerful central government -- -- -- peace.

Now I know you like to talk about things like the appropriate role of government and human life and that you like to talk about liberty and you like to talk about these very high minded things that will you engages briefly in the grubby politics -- cities are -- yes here in studio 3-D C eighty.

Well we're all living with us here in DC and up north in New York once the -- six weeks away six less it's just of Atlanta in the season we're one election season away from the elections -- no I -- -- reference forties again I'd I'd -- like -- just as much as Catholic.

But it's true where -- -- near Canada complaining mind how did that got people around -- very.

-- separate receiver started smoking.

Obviously the question that was the president.

Wants to reinforce an image.

That basically all the terrorists -- -- he killed them all he killed Osama -- lost the drones flying around the world constantly -- killing all the -- he did not want to say those words it was very clear that he did not want to -- where it's it was OK if other people around -- said it.

Is their political liability in trying to do that now that it becomes clearer and clearer that they do.

Well yes there is because the president's statements are not only untrue -- -- 180 degrees from the truth we now know for certain.

That some of the people who planned and plotted.

The attack on the consulate -- -- -- -- where some of the very same people that we fought in either Iraq or Afghanistan because at least two of them have been prisoners at the prison can't -- get.

We had a right so so we know we -- they came from they are quote back on the streets.

Put aside my views on on the constitutionality.

Of -- but the president's argument is 100%.

Excuse me.

180.

Degrees incorrect.

He claims that he has stifled or crushed al-Qaeda.

By the use of drones he has exacerbated.

Animosity.

Against the west.

By his use of drones the drones have killed women and children.

And funerals and weddings and mosques and homes and hospitals and schools don't expect these people are gonna be pretty upset.

The government that is sending those -- that's the reason.

The embassy in Cairo and the consulate in -- -- in my view were attacked.

Says.

Having 1953.

And that's another reason why he didn't want to talk about it.

Judge we appreciate your -- -- -- -- -- as always Thursdays are among my favorite days of the week right there with Fridays Saturdays and -- Yeah last night Gregory yeah panel for special report tonight is well.

Well there you go the Internet you will be doubly pleased today so judge we thank you.

When we come back this rambling wreck of a freight train of a political talk show will go forward as we'd see one of your favorite stand and -- will be here a we will also talk to delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton who is the voice for the District of Columbia in the United States congress.

And we will also have some power points today -- stick around you'll have fun.

-- -- won't pretend the I'm offering is quick.

Worries it.

I never have.

You can elect me to tell you what you wanted to hear you elected me to tell you the truth.

And the truth there there will take more than a few years for us to solve challenges that have built up over decades.

And that is what President Obama.

Told the nation when he was accepting the nomination for -- second term as president of United States in Charlotte a couple weeks ago and this is power play.

And what the president was talking about there is the economy that was and later in the speech he talked about the economy that would -- But -- manager who is the deputy editorial page editor for the Wall Street Journal and the author of the always revealing always entertaining wonderland column on Thursdays in the journal says what about the economy.

That is now Dan welcome back to the big show good to be written -- -- So your column your column today basically says.

And lays out in very easy to understand what turns even for.

Economic simple -- like myself.

Exactly what the state of the economy it's.

Well that's right and work you know as I say would be nice support of these candidates would talk about the economy of the here and now that you know Chris.

President Obama's treatment of his economic record is is literally fantastic I mean.

You know these guys go home at night and played fantasy football and fantasy baseball -- the president has basically engaged in the fantasy economy.

I -- that there was that clip I just watched his new two minute -- it's beginning to run in the swing states and he does the same thing he said well.

We've we started the presidency we had a very difficult economy we knew things were going to be bad and I'll let me talk to you about what we're gonna do.

When I'm reelected in other words -- simply skips over with that for years while he's been president.

And what I don't quite understand is why.

The Romney campaign isn't making more of an effort to take -- part.

The details ability of the Obama record over those four years.

Yes you know employment for instance now is around eight point 1% it seems to have flat lined at eight point 1%.

But the record shows that going back 2009.

It got up to 99 and a half percent.

And -- to -- -- 111 the unemployment rate stayed between nine and a half and 10%.

I mean that's the United States economy that's not Greece that's an extraordinarily.

Poor performance for an economy the size of bars and -- Personally think Chris that the American voters the people are going to be watching that debate in Denver Todd next Wednesday night.

Are dying for one of these candidates to explain to them what is wrong with us right now why has the US economy.

Perform -- so poorly in the last four years and again just this morning.

The government said that the economy grew by only one point 3% in the second quarter.

The American voter I think want someone to tell them what the heck is going on.

Well.

It would be -- first we always -- -- we always appreciate your.

You're keeping hope alive on the front.

And -- -- -- electorate.

And Internet if you had not yet read Dan at the journal today please do and please do every week because he's really one of the best smartest in the business we thank you Dan all right thank you Chris.

OK let's take.

And it rather abrupt turn away but to a topic that is we probably should have had -- an apology on -- stay around for which is the District of Columbia.

It's not a state but a lot of people live there they voted presidential elections but they don't have a vote in congress.

It's something that is constantly rolling the discussion here in the mid Atlantic.

And one of the -- -- rulers of them all is delegate Eleanor.

Holmes Norton.

She doesn't have a vote in the house which certainly has a voice well.

Thank you can't avoid it hit the voting committee is as a voting committee that -- we stipulate that we stipulate your committee vote but you're right the thought that vote that counts.

Is the final vote in the house going to pay taxes.

That's supposed to come with a vote.

And so here's the question.

Now the constitution now I don't that is why we shouldn't judge stated constitution says that this is going to be a federal district that where we are right now -- must -- federal district and not a state.

Would we need to change the constitution to have this be a state were treated as a state.

If not we'll win when I was in the minority actually in Tom Davis the congressman from Virginia.

Invited him experts.

At a hearing to talk about whether or not.

Congress could give the district a vote -- about voting rights.

It is congress for example they gave the district the right to govern itself right it's -- -- -- correct.

Yeah thereabouts about badminton in the end while the voting rights act -- -- in the home like this is 74 -- cut off well that is the that.

They delegated that write the same kind because it has all power over the district.

It seemed clear.

Off -- and and by the way one of his experts was a former.

As a Secretary General.

Four of the -- -- -- President Bush.

I seems clear that this -- congress they gave the district home rule and in fact give the district voting.

But it but that's changing congress not the rights of the people in the district that right because that changes the way than the number of the how how how the countries represented inside copy.

You did that in the -- to.

And in the bill that we almost got the vote.

There -- there would have been an extra.

House seat and you saw an extra house seat indecent -- well they wouldn't change that as -- anyway.

And what about my favorite this is probably a little boring to the rest of the universe out there but for people -- fast and has -- what about the concept of precision.

Part of the District of Columbia was given back to Virginia -- the other side of the Potomac back in the nineteenth century this that we don't need all this and they just gave it back to Virginia.

What about taking them.

That populated -- the largest chunk of of the District of Columbia and saying this is now part of Maryland and shrinking DC basically down to the National Mall and that this this immediate area.

Let this be the conditioning gets down the national moment you become 51 state but imagine kind of giving us back to -- that -- ask Mel on about the ballot does not want that in fact they've been pretty clear they're going to the way it is they're like they're like speculated that we like the way it is here on they would like become the 51 state or at least.

Beyond Callaway black getting voting rights especially since we are -- clout there per capita and payment of -- the.

Duly noted delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton we thank you very much.

We thank you for being with us.
