But first we want to kick it off with an organization that basically is collecting women and children's books and donating them to homeless shelters.

Since 2007.

Our next guest.

Has been involved in this where there.

-- -- donating these hooks to not only homeless shelters but to domestic violence shelters.

And residential treatment centers that -- children.

Joining me now -- MacKenzie Vera she's the founder and director of sheltering books ink.

She joins us from our Atlanta bureau thank you very much McKenzie for.

Talking to us and I understand as of April -- 2012.

You have delivered over a 135000.

Books to.

Various shelters.

What -- -- -- you first start.

Sheltering boxing.

Well all the pain condition called complex regional pain -- and I sang missed it -- when I was ten years old.

And I easy reading as a way to escape my pain.

And I told my pediatrician about things.

And she told me about a home for some of our country's most abused children.

And how they had built a library that didn't happen me bucks so I don't think I decided to Danny on mild but not asked everyone I need to -- -- -- as well.

And I had that feeling their elaborates a capacity at 111000 bucks.

And and I'm having such a great response from them and reading was able to help those kids escape there pains in their -- in the areas and so I decided that.

I wanted to keep going so I made into a nonprofit.

We've got -- couple pictures to show people books first of all you you donate children's books but also books for grownups as well we have pictures have you.

A distributing.

Your books and and also pictures of you distributing to kids.

And obviously I think then distributing to children obviously hits home for you personally.

But you also do you distribute two adults right.

I do.

I instead Atlanta -- and sour taste in 35 states cost the country so far.

And learn.

I diet I get mostly children's thanks we -- -- is -- parent child from reading.

He is really very important because that'll help the guidance glow.

But I don't need to use -- -- -- you know enough so I'm.

-- because first of all you should start reading to your children at a very young age and a lot of those parents.

Who have toddlers or even babies should start reading -- -- at a very young age so the parents will need a lot of those children's books too I mean are you finding in these homeless -- -- Parents with children.

Definitely there are a lot of families in shelter areas say it.

It's surprising just how mean children there are on their -- -- Right now there is currently one point six million homeless children in the US alone.

Well and it's incredible because the more we educate those children a better chance they have of not being homeless when they -- up.

Because ultimately that's what they need is is to be as as as educated as possible and why not started a young age.

What response have you received from those who have received these books.

It's the last thing in the world for me it's the best feeling I love seeing the smiles on -- time -- -- -- When they receive their bucks a lot of men have never had a back of their own to read for fun before that only -- have been.

At school but X and I learned they just they get so excited and I love being able to you know help them on any way that I can.

Since so what are your plans for the future you've now distributed a 135.

Books.

A 135000.

Books I mean where where do you plan on going from there because that's that's a huge that's a huge -- and you're not finished.

I'm not definitely not finished my salesman goal is to donate a million bucks and I may -- and one point six million -- -- -- -- man homeless children Marion America.

And and I also would like sheltering -- TV.

Kind of like a household name -- I come on in the same -- -- other charities such as the American Red Cross.

-- -- make a wish foundation.

Well.

Have you been in touch with those organizations make a wish for example.

I'm I -- -- -- that I have been in touch with children's miracle that collects and I mean this going -- -- flag raised in all of the hospitals.

I was gonna say a children's hospitals a perfect place to set up books because children love libraries.

At all laid back as I mean they love it and so to have that there.

Just like you yourself as a Childs felt like.

A book would distract you from the pain that you were feeling in children's hospitals I can't imagine a better place really.

To put these books to use the way that they did for you.

Exactly.

I am really looking forward to that -- in the hospital.

Many times because of my penis so I had him and it's always good see you have something to DT -- -- you.

We're so everything is definitely one of -- where -- Some their books because we have if we could just show this camera here.

A box of books that we have that we have -- you know boxes of books laying all over Fox News Channel because there's a lot of people out there.

That are writing books and they try to get.

Guest segments on that and you know on fox from -- dot com and they send us.

Third their publicist send us tons of books so I I personally want to just say that that our show producers have put together this package they plan on sending out.

And donating.

But there's a lot of people out there that I'm sure would love to clean out their basements and get rid of a lot of children's books that.

Their kids about grown for example I mean children's books is an abundance of them where can people send them.

How can they get more information and so forth.

You can let's say English is sheltering -- -- alert to fire the lake.

Like us on face but Clinton's us sheltering -- ink and that they can find the address he can find more information an equal amounts.

-- okay all right MacKenzie are we appreciate your your coming on and and this is a great thing we've got going and -- wish you the best of luck to get.

-- -- one point six million books distributed and once you do you're gonna have to check back with us and we'll have to update or viewers thank you so much.

Think you know.
