Well the economy dominated the discussion last night of course and here's one really interesting exchange you heard a little bit of this -- but here's the whole thing -- -- The question is.
Does anybody out there think that the big problem we head is that there was too much oversight and regulation.
Of Wall Street.
Because if you do.
Then the governor Romney is your candidate but.
That's not so I'm.
Believe that's that's just that this is that the facts look we have to have regulation on Wall Street.
That that's -- I'd have regulation but I wouldn't designate five banks is too big to fail and give them a blank check.
That's one of the unintended consequences -- Dodd-Frank it wasn't thought through properly we need to get rid of that provision because it's killing regional and small bank.
It's just an argument that we saw back and forth -- so in that today a new day for that -- EC governor Mitt Romney as one of the big questions everybody's talking about.
So here -- the action.
And Romney camp is Arthur Davis who is the co chair for president Obama's 2008 campaign but he is now a supporter of governor Romney and as a surrogate.
Where his campaign good morning sir good to have you with us today.
Good morning to you so you are as -- said that Romney supporter now you -- one of the you know sort of most prominent speeches at the RNC this year.
What did you think -- -- -- ran it last night.
I think Mitt Romney have the most decisive win in -- debate that any candidates Adam the last twenty years.
Be bipartisan about it the two best debaters in the last forty years but Mitt Romney and Bill Clinton -- -- -- -- As a decisive win and it was a decisive win on substance.
Mitt Romney countered for a Barack Obama last night came back -- the president a respectful way.
And the president didn't have answers so it was a win on substance last night.
If you are obviously a unique political.
Player and observer of this whole process you -- the co chair.
-- co chair of president Obama's campaign back in 2008.
What brought you to the place you are now as a supporter and surrogate for -- -- just four years later.
Well -- I'm like about seven million Americans out there who voted for the president who don't plan to do so again.
I'm like many Americans who were Democrats at one point -- moved away from the Democratic Party Democratic Party ideas -- up eleven points in the last four years.
Part of its policy part of its ideology and part of its results.
Last night was the debate about results of what was telling to -- At no point last night to President Obama lay out a case for what a second term is going to look like.
I heard President Obama say he was going to do one thing -- a second term but he's got to do raise some taxes in the second term but he didn't get around for raising in the first term.
That's not much of an uplifting vision for the American people.
Ronald Reagan used to say that you're right communicate -- would -- have great things to communicate.
Barack Obama did not have great things to communicate last night and that's why he struggled while accounts.
How will look there's no doubt in my mind that the president and his camp we'll spend the next couple of weeks spending a lot more time.
Being prepared and getting ready so I -- -- anybody's gonna count out President Obama at this point.
In terms of how he will perform in the next debate so what are your folks of -- -- gonna do to sort of get ready for the next round.
This wasn't just about performance the Obama folks like this was about style and performance of looking down last night which of the -- -- out.
Last night was about substance.
Mitt Romney looked to present -- -- and say you pay for Obama care.
By cutting 716.
Billion dollars from Medicare you didn't have to do at present Obama had no answer.
Mitt Romney -- at present Obama.
You talk about a few oil and tax break a few tax brakes oil and gas industry you've given.
Much more tax breaks of the alternative energy industry and you have nothing to show for it.
President Obama just looked at him.
At the end and today.
Barack Obama couldn't engage on substance last night the facts aren't going to get any better between now the next two debates.
They'll -- of energy markets not gonna start working -- the next two weeks Obama's economic causes are gonna start working on the next two weeks.
Good as a result of that it was about style.
It was about substance and Obama not being able to stand on his own records that -- not going to change between now the next debate.
Interesting assessment Artur Davis thank you so much for being -- us today -- --
