And I have my own plans not the same as some symbols but in my view the president -- -- to -- that.

Mean if you want to make some adjustments to it take it go to congress fight for it.

That's what you don't make some adjustments to what you were putting in -- before congress right now four trillion dollar plan to the president or else -- president four years.

You said you cut the deficit in half it's now four years later we still have trillion dollar deficits that.

Was the come -- dude moments from last night's debate.

-- and Willard Mitt Romney the Republican nominee for president said Barack Obama and you've been president for four years what are you talking about.

And this is power play and high -- -- firewall and last night.

Mitt Romney awkward stance.

Mitt Romney and relatable Mitt -- the guy who everybody said couldn't connect with the voters certainly did and found a new gear at exactly the moment that his campaign needed it.

Even Democrats are today acknowledging that Romney won -- they say on style over substance.

That Romney had a big outing last night at the University of Denver.

So we're gonna talk about as you might have speculated Internet we're gonna talk about that today we're gonna talk about their battle over the deficit we're gonna talk about.

Romney's new play towards bipartisanship and working with Democrats.

We're going to talk about.

The high cost of living.

And have that is factoring into the discussion.

I can tell you that ended a volatile who -- by law will be here I can also tell you David Drucker.

For whom you have a fever that there is only one cure which is more Drucker of roll call is here you -- -- and you should follow and you should -- it you will enjoy it.

But I know what you're asking yourself in an -- What do well dressed Korean War veteran congressman from Harlem to think about last night's debate.

Well fortunately we have the answer congressman Charlie Rangel welcome back to the big -- out good -- -- -- All right all right okay so.

And so can we stipulate here.

And -- the polls say that Mitt Romney had a better night last night than Barack Obama.

I guess -- it instantly -- we get stipulate.

Okay now so the question is does it match.

I guess so you know yeah I'll -- Walking out of my house this morning everybody was saying congressman Charlie what -- last night to -- that.

Has set to an extent that there was disappointing -- it was very high expectations that a president.

And hardly any expectations.

Around midnight.

It turned around I don't think the president took him very seriously he should have.

And -- allies fighting that the president just -- -- and and wanted to get this done being local web.

And then I'll Mitt Romney to say things that was so inconsistent.

Would his previous positions.

So the approach you then any -- -- -- in your career.

So the approach you think the president should have taken there would have been to more aggressively rebut what Romney was saying.

But the good news say -- I guess I guess they moved aggressively but the life and -- subordinate wake up look up.

Be involved.

As I guess that's one motives saying yes he should have been moved aggressively should have been.

He should've had a little -- of the book the president.

Barack Obama we know.

And you don't have to take notes on -- on Mitt Romney ever especially.

At a debate.

What do you mean you don't have to take -- I think you know what he said the 47%.

You know his feeling about it you know he really truly believes.

Have I given a break did it 30% upper middle income people.

That they will be the investors and -- create jobs that's all he's been saying this -- -- body wants it does say.

He he did point out.

That he would did not support one -- being raised on taxes on their riches the president never pointed out.

That 98% of the people would not have -- attacks race ended a plan that he has.

And yet he will not support that plan because under no circumstances.

As you want any revenue raised out of new wealthy.

And when he says close the loopholes.

That's what politics is all about.

What to look at all -- what yeah.

I think that actually -- white -- spoken like a member of the ways and means a long time member of the house Ways and Means Committee.

-- and what does.

The president need to do.

Today and in the in the weeks to come before we see Joseph Biden and Paul -- face off.

I was president need to -- now there.

But it's time they show -- management and last night and this will anything.

You can and that you know -- Obama is not going to sleep -- -- -- Again.

He's got this doubt he's got them -- he's got the facts.

You know it would have been better if he gets that out there and -- you read this statement of what Mitt Romney says about Mitt Romney.

Rather than be defensive about anything.

And the accusations.

That -- was making about health care.

He had this compassionate concern about the middle class.

Kid me -- right that's what the whole thing was about about him saying.

You may like the middle class but they're not gonna vote -- -- -- well let them let's concentrate on the rich and get that message of cries.

Hey he's been very -- with that position and it is consistent.

What did -- body.

You know they've given him a little break but they don't like him talking that way at all.

-- so if I was searching to find something positive out of it.

We may be a little annoyed when our president for not being as you say aggressive enough.

But when it seemed bloodied its -- of Mitt Romney -- -- things he said last night.

Not that he believes it but the fact that he would sell it.

And he is really talking about what you're Tea Party socialization.

Of medicine if he's got to take -- people that have.

Complaints.

All free media.

Determine illnesses that they know about before they get insurance that sounds like social lives in Madison.

When he says he's going to do these things but -- federal government for the middle class.

It sounds like these -- this is exactly what the body doesn't want him to don't.

And so I'm surprised and after the debate where he ended up on the -- right.

He still feels that he has to go further -- to far right except -- last night.

Where he's trying so rapidly to get back in the middle and he can't do it.

Congressman the chair has to -- some time for itself I hope you'll excuse us we thank you very much for making time for us today and you are exactly that you just -- the Internet why it enjoys being with us so much have a great -- yesterday as chairman because half.

-- -- So here's the deal.

As the congressman pointed out.

The expectations for the president or high expectations for Romney would love but Romney even surmounted what would have been normal expectations of this women is a draw Romney would -- be there are -- and -- matched expectations.

Probably did well in accurately right.

He game.

And I actually had to think back on it because I thought actually when I was watching last night.

That I thought his opening was a little bit weak because I thought that he was too defensive on his tax cut plan constantly telling the president no no no I'm not raising taxes on.

They have reason I'm not gonna lower taxes on the wealthy.

And you're wrong you're wrong you're wrong instead of taking the case the president that you -- the one who has raised taxes and you're the one who wants to raise taxes.

However when I look at all of this in retrospect what Romney did.

That he needed to do on a couple points here was really key number one.

He spent almost the entire night despite what I thought about the beginning on offense.

And in fact I think about it his tax plan according to Republicans -- -- -- -- characterized by the president I think people were hungry on his -- to hear him.

Defend his plan and explain what it is and he actually got the points about growth and job creation.

Number two.

He won.

Just flat out won the health care portion up and said to the president what so many conservatives Tea Party activists and others have wanted to -- themselves to the president.

Regarding the affordable health care act were obamacare.

And I thought.

That wasn't what we all thought for several months would be his biggest vulnerability.

That's what many of his Republican opponent said he'd never he cannot prosecute the case against obamacare because of -- care.

Any facts he flipped it and handed.

And into.

Final point -- -- don't know what's hey I gotta say that you can all right there for another segment -- don't use it all up you know the Internet makes me excited and and rarely does -- a lot of people that's what I've heard anyway we're going to take a quick break but when we come back our friend John Roberts we'll talk to us about what the Romney camp in the midst of high five each other is doing today you will enjoy that -- enjoy more of David you'll enjoy this PowerPoint you enjoy judgment volatile it's an embarrassment of riches for you today Internet.

-- -- -- No I I after spotting the publicly just which is my experience as a governor.

-- is if -- come -- and and laid -- a piece of legislation and say it's my way or the highway.

How to get a lot done.

What I do -- same way that Tip O'Neill and Ronald Reagan worked together some years ago.

And I agree that.

The democratic legislators masters -- might give him some advice to Republicans in congress about how to cooperate.

That was Mitt Romney and Barack Obama talking about.

Efforts failed efforts in the president's case to reach bipartisan consensus on big issues.

This is power play and fortunately for you David Drucker is here and has two more points that he will share with you because he is good and he is Smart.

But let -- hear from another good Smart person.

This John Roberts who is in -- -- Virginia which is I should say down one of my very favorite parts of America that is not inside West Virginia.

There in the Shenandoah Valley a -- beautiful spot.

Maybe it is it's a very very beautiful spot -- Gary IDs are used to come down in this area -- in elections in Charlottesville.

My -- my daughter's boyfriend by the way went to the University of Virginia.

He's now gainfully employed by the way in New York this -- yeah.

I'm excited I'm excited by the Internet as well -- like.

I would get that tingles running down my leg as we speak.

Either that we know I was stunned by fire -- earlier today so.

Or either that -- -- visited one of the local vineyards before.

Before you started today.

-- its from.

Good job via the -- -- -- stoked today and the conversations that I that was -- money folks today.

It's like they're on there on cloud nine.

But what do they do.

To translate that into actual votes what do they do to translate that into real results not just good television.

Leo what -- -- -- right now Chris is that the kind of letting everything from last night marinate for a bit today while the governor's out of the fund raisers also talking.

The local C -- group.

In this city of Denver that that he gets on a -- comes here to Virginia.

And remember President Obama won Virginia in 20081.

-- a long time it's gone Democrat by six points or for John McCain the polls now.

Show President Obama with the two or three point advantage.

But things to look like they're tightening up a little bit here and the Romney campaign is hoping.

That after last night's debate that they will tighten even further they have got a big rally here in -- bill.

Gotta say though that this is friendly territory here to get to caddie John McCain got about 69% of the vote back in 2000 and it's that they are talking with some folks.

Who were already committed Republicans but they're hoping that you know that the noise from all of this.

Well -- spread throughout the state of Virginia and perhaps other swing states as well after star Trace -- is going to be here you here's technicians just yeah.

And that's why -- -- hearing that thumping in the background.

And it's not the coal mines.

But you know governor Romney has got a compelling argument to make here at least in the western part of the state because he is for coal.

President of -- is not seen as being too political by a lot of people.

And that his message governor rod -- mentions on the economy last night.

He's going to resonate to place it still suffering from fairly high unemployment compared to the eastern and northern parts of the game.

John Roberts is one step ahead of Mitt Romney wants to read the news that we like John thank you very much from time enjoy -- excited by the Internet yeah we all -- David I think -- I've always liked the -- -- -- exactly that's that's totally cool.

All right so there's a good question here is.

For Romney.

The polls only just I didn't I hit Sasha I'm sorry I did not ask for these be made through Internet I'm just going to do -- you a little bit and talking about what some of the polls said.

Seem to be stronger leader at CNN people who watch the debate 58% said Romney.

They said who won the debate 67%.

Said Romney.

-- 75%.

Of independents.

CDS at -- to the polls all said wow but here's something we know about those kind of holes.

Those are -- -- they happen in the moment how that was great I can't believe that that was all that stuff.

Button what is the race look like.

Come -- Well I think that's what we don't know yet here's what I think -- -- last night did I think that.

Especially for the chattering classes and in Washington -- us right.

Republicans and conservatives.

Who want Mitt Romney to win but we're very concerned that he was on his way -- falling off a cliff.

And by extension.

Republicans around the country who read such people like us and then wonder if it's true.

Now feel as though hey we can win this thing.

And man is a really big deal.

For the Romney campaign right now and it.

To that effect could be felt in some of these battleground states.

-- I don't think that this is going to cause some sort of democratic.

Panic and drop off and so I think what we do have though now is a definite race where at least.

Theoretically for a couple of days barring.

New surprises and things we don't know about.

This is no longer wrong he's losing Obama's -- it's we've got a race and that changes the character of how everybody feels changes to coverage.

And it does a lot so when you're when you're about what's it like Florida Ohio -- your marginally behind.

It can actually sway some of these polls and in what I would tell you is that.

Because Obama has a really difficult record to defend even if you don't think it's his fault yeah if you absolve them right right and -- talked about this.

There are many voters out there and I -- in from our reporting have found is that like the idea of having a different choice but I have not been sold on the idea of -- -- that different choice.

And I think that he may have opened himself up to these voters.

Last night.

-- it depends on whether he -- prosecuting the same case Obama wants to raise your taxes I want to reform your taxes.

And things of that nature because we know Obama's competitive we know his campaign -- is and will probably continue to do a great job executing their strategy which means nothing is going to be -- Correct and that's why I think it'd been in this is -- it to my my favorite final two points right there than what are what Romney give.

For himself really well last night is best Obama on the idea of leadership -- Hot and you heard the sound -- at the beginning that we played we talk about.

Working with the Democrats.

Getting things done and that -- yes even Republicans want somebody to lead even if it's to lead Democrats in their direction so that was a big deal and end.

As it happens and I was wondering when the present when when when governor -- was talking about the Dodd-Frank financial reform -- what does he do we want to do this and he seemed to be telling the president thinks about the bill that the president.

Didn't appear to be aware of even though I'm sure he is -- and that level of -- detail is something that a lot of these swing voters.

That are wondering what to -- are looking for somebody you know what it is somebody in command right so that they feel like wow the guy knows what he's doing right those -- the ships in the chocolate chip -- that you have to sprinkled in there -- some people like that I -- -- morsel of policy awareness here he he knows what he's talking about yeah and I never would have thought that that would have been a wise thing to bring up just because it is so in the weeks and yet there you got two -- -- Would have been mistakes the now the question is this.

For.

Romney.

As he talks about.

Working together being a leader.

Doing those things it sounds good the president was explaining Romney looked like he was leading.

It sounds good but what about Charlie Reynolds pointed the previous segment that is there going to be some base upset.

If they think that -- like right now -- hey our guys actually not that bad.

But as this wears on into next week who -- -- so you really is gonna keep those parts of the president's health -- law and he really is gonna work with Democrats on taxes my.

My thinking is I don't think that the base minds of Romney's going to work with Democrats on taxes if he keeps saying my principles are.

No no new taxes no tax hikes.

Lower taxes by 20% broaden the base growth growth growth.

And on the health care policies in one of the biggest complaints the conservatives have.

Is that they feel like the media and Democrats Hillary them for not caring about people there issue.

There's never been we don't want to do these things it's we don't want to do them with big government that's -- -- -- -- he keeps saying I'm going to repeal obamacare.

And find different non government centered solutions to keeping people.

Insured if they have preexisting conditions let's take what did you know whether or not that's possible -- I don't know but if the messages we're gonna do with the conservative way.

And not the big government way that I don't think the base will have any problem.

Internet truly a chocolate chip in your -- today David Drucker roll call we thank you very much different in your wise counsel.

There is more wise counsel ahead for -- Judge Napolitano.

Fox News senior judicial analysts will be here and he will answer this question he said that Romney.

In his column today it has come -- -- it was a disappointment.

Those he probably wrote that before the debate did it change these skeptical jurists mind we'll find out so stick around.

Same time gasoline prices have doubled under the president electric rates around food prices are up.

Health care costs have gone up by 2500 dollars a family.

Middle income families are being crushed.

And that.

Was Mitt Romney being relatable and talking about.

Can't really call -- inflation is the economy's not growing but rising prices.

For consumers.

And this is -- -- -- welcome back.

And somebody who has been telling you for a while.

That the high price of commodities and goods.

Could be a factor in this election is judge Andrew I don't know Chris Cox news channel's senior judicial analyst.

What about good to be here my friend.

You were right about that and -- found a nice -- -- -- under way to pull into traffic on that went and say even though he maybe a quarter billionaire.

He recognizes that -- people are paying more for stuff right and the stuff that he chose.

This stuff with which we can all relate and -- -- Joseph six pack can relate exactly.

Now.

You wrote.

Your column which I I want to again say every Thursday.

The judge writes a column you can get at foxnews.com and even if power play of course then you should go over and read the judges Soledad because that's always good he's doing big ideas I'm doing that the minutia of the day's politics the -- doing big ideas on my -- this tire walls column every day I had.

Good -- -- -- say too much but please keep going.

But you wrote a column today that said that one of the that you had shoot two options it devoted to our kids in this election of failure and -- disappointment.

Yes and it was you you you had that a lot of start for both of those guys.

I -- to -- you had a file that before the debate.

I did and I was not disappointed list OK look there was there was no knockout punch but it is clear.

But the country's consensus.

Even our colleagues at other networks and even democratic operatives that Mitt Romney quote won the debate.

He came across as forceful as relentless as -- standing.

Even as likable as very much engaged the president you know -- all kinds of speculation that why the president behave the way he did.

Was really at his worst.

He was.

Arrogant.

Disengaged uninterested wouldn't look at Romney when he really ought to -- known the camera was watching was watching his eyes.

So to the extent that -- Romney.

Stopped putting -- to sleep.

And even though the debate was a little one key is these debates sometimes -- He really came across like he knew what he was talking about.

And he has settled ideas and his -- that's one way to look at this time if you'll let the libertarian side -- me look at it -- it's basically -- the end tweeted that it's basically very very heavy regulation of human behavior.

And regulation -- few ticks down I really got irritated.

When he backed down on federal aid to education somehow gonna cut that he could -- -- you -- -- -- -- in the constitution doesn't -- the schools are not gonna get -- money.

It means the states are going to have that money for them to give.

You can understand.

You know you hear your payments for the city of cynical politics yes -- understand why he did not want to put that -- cluster and yes of course I can also understand why he didn't take Ian -- and -- -- nonlinear more regulation in capitalism because I know the federal produce the most prosperity because that would explode -- really is nice and it would have -- so from the point of view of of libertarians who don't like him.

He is obviously.

A step closer towards the type -- personal freedom.

From the government for which libertarians -- that they will never ever ever see under Barack Obama so we would call him less terrible by this metric.

Yes yes I guess a little less assaulting -- freedom but from the point of view of of a person who analyzes politics for a living like you.

He was wonderful and likable and remarkable and was no question in anybody's mind with the possible exception -- the first lady's.

Who prevailed.

Last night who -- a far better night was -- round.

Well and you know that -- Mitt Romney did well with the accusation leveled against him today it was he was too slick into charming -- a politician -- that is movies these are barbs that have never been thrown -- round talent unless Bob.

Woodward is right and the president was troubled by something he knew that was happening in the world couldn't reveal to us.

I think you're gonna see an entirely different Barack Obama next time around might be too late.

Because this this mom.

Obama momentum.

In a couple key states.

New Hampshire.

Virginia.

Maybe even Ohio Florida may have been slowed or even stopped last night.

We'll be watching closely judge will be lucky because aspect report tonight against taking time you are gracious -- -- and now for a few power points.

Surprise it's an election.

Romney Mitt Romney last night certainly benefited from impossibly -- expectations -- -- fact that he did not fall down or drool on himself would say that the president was born in Kenya.

Got him that at least through the door.

And that was good but what he did was go beyond that and deliver a real credible performance.

-- The president this is the second PowerPoint the president failed to take his opponent.

Seriously.

He underestimated like -- quarterback in a football game who's been reading his own press clippings from the week before he thought not only my great but this guy's a joke and Obama went out to try to endure.

-- -- -- -- You will not see that again Barack Obama will now take seriously the challenge for Mitt Romney in the upcoming debate two weeks -- his campaign won't put on a new war footing.

This will have woken them up that Romney better hope that he got a good bouncer in the polls out of this and that his campaign can keep it -- law.

Because Chicago.

Will be on the march count on it.

So we thank you very much for your time today no Charles today but you can take solace in the fact that -- Jonathan Pollard is up next agenda you enjoy.

And I we'll see you back here tomorrow at 11:30 AM eastern thanks your time Internet had a great --
