That's president President Obama and governor Romney's -- the economy today governor around me turning his campaign spotlight to foreign policy any blasted President Obama accusing the president of failing to do his job as commander in chief.

We look at the Middle East today.

With Iran closer than ever -- nuclear weapons capability.

With the conflict in Syria threatening to destabilize the region.

And -- violent extremists on the march.

And with an American ambassador and three others dead -- at the hands of al-Qaeda affiliates.

It's clear that the risk of conflict in the region is higher now -- when the president took office.

I know the president -- for a safer freer and more prosperous Middle East allied with us.

I share this hole.

But hope is not a strategy.

Former State Department official Liz Cheney just -- list I -- it could be with you think governor Romney was seeking to -- today and -- Yeah I think he was tried a couple things first of -- point out the very fundamental differences between.

His approach to leadership the national security and President Obama has.

If you look at it just the issue of American leadership which was the common thread throughout the entire speech talking about how important it's been in the past how important is going to be in the future.

What it means to leave as an American commander in chief.

And contrasting that with what we've seen from this president witches in real timidity weakness policy of retreat around the world.

And a policy is you just showed its let us let this weaker after nearly four years of President Obama -- -- -- harshest thing he said about.

President Obama's foreign policy.

Well I think you know hope is not a strategy.

Is I'm not sure I would say it's harsh I think it's sad I think that it's it's too bad -- we've gotten that point.

I actually at that one of the most interesting lines in the speech was he said it's not just the character of our country talking about makes us exceptional but it's the record of our accomplishments.

Any then went on to say that that's a record that's been written by patriots of both parties that it's not a partisan issue.

If you compare that to what President Obama said for example back in the spring of 2009.

When Daniel Ortega had just attacked the United States Walt -- Obama was sitting in his presence.

Slandered us and the president then stood up and said I'm just happy that Ortega didn't blame me for things that happen and I was three months old.

That's his view of America as having been the single most effective force for good in history.

And why it's so important we have to continue to leave compared and contrasted with the Obama invasion which -- -- the results -- now -- Middle -- -- -- how he was.

Very actually he spent a good bit of time talking about Israel and about -- -- in San that there be no daylight there between the United States and -- Israel if you present.

-- there it it seems to have also of Israel dynamic and I pulled up the transcript going back to last November in which said then present Sarkozy said.

Net was quoted as saying -- that got caught in the hot Mike saying.

Netanyahu I can't stand him he's a liar.

-- President Obama says you're sick of him but I have to work with him every day.

And then of course and even -- didn't it didn't go see him when he was -- United States when he spoke to the general assembly United Nations and then today.

Make it very making -- very a lot of emphasis speech about our relations with is yeah I thought that was designed to make sure that that he does get that vote here.

Well I think it's a critically important part of our national security policy -- mean there's a reason why Israel is one of our most important allies in the world.

There's a reason why we stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel we share a whole range of common values -- -- -- and we have to make sure that we're standing with them and that they're not alone as they you know face threats from countries like Iran for example.

So I think governor Romney was making clear.

Those here it you know in terms of the domestic audience and also internationally -- the Iran means that there should be no question but that we won't allow them to develop nuclear capability and we'll stand with Israel and support whatever it is they have to do.

What will act together I.

The harshest thing he said is he accused President Obama of making a political decision about Afghanistan.

Where we've lost over 2000.

Troops over there who died there are many -- come home and died here from if they entries.

But he -- that I thought that was where he really was the harshest in the present saying that essentially your plan is a political plan.

Well -- the facts bear -- -- governor Romney said you know when President Obama ordered the surge.

His commanders on the ground first of -- asked for more troops.

But then they said we need to full fighting seasons we need to make sure that we completely dismantle the Taliban that they can't come back and that requires two full fighting seasons.

The president came back and said I'm -- babies -- troops as you need.

But I'm gonna stop the search and then pull the troops out before that second fighting season is done now there's simply no military reason why you would do that if you're -- -- our forces and you're gonna prevent Afghanistan from becoming a safe haven again.

Then you let the troops fight the amount of time commanders say he's actually.

People -- -- though you know as much with some of these political and knock down drag out fights this country is it when it comes to war you know.

You know politics now part of -- and accusing the -- united states of making a political decision.

Is really farther than I've seen anyone else go Laura McKinney did do you think Jimmy do you believe do you think that president Obama's strategy was purely -- -- purely selfish purely political and -- because if that was best no question really.

Absolutely when you say you've been a surge those troops but that you're not gonna allow them to fight through the second -- fighting season the commander understand this is what we need and you stamping and -- in September.

Of an election year.

So it's not just a random year.

-- September of an election year with no military purpose whatsoever for making that decision.

I think that what's happening you know whether or not -- the president's motives -- political I happen to think they work.

What's clearly happening is -- we run the risk as the governor said today of leaving behind an Afghanistan where the terrorists can once again gain the kind of football they used to attack us on 9/11.

I guess I'd -- -- -- I think we get rolled all the time it comes to money -- -- by the by the government but that when it comes to warm up -- believe -- the people -- have may have different.

Different opinions and how to wage to what to do but that is not unselfishly but maybe I'm incredibly naive anyway.

I think you're incredibly and I -- -- I think it was close to tied into this --
