Out of here the political fallout from the first presidential debate -- so we -- go now.

Our next guest says the president's performance on the stage in Denver forced to major strategy change for the Obama campaign that a good thing.

Charlie hurt is a columnist for The Washington Times -- talking about that four letter word liar right Charlie.

Yeah it's really incredible you know after that do debate performance in which everybody across the spectrum even MSNBC.

Determined that that Barack Obama President Obama had had -- clearly lost.

You know they they -- President Obama didn't sort of look inward he didn't try to sort of reevaluate.

You know his his presidency -- how to defend it.

He with the entire campaign went after Obama Mitt Romney and -- -- -- a bit of being dishonest.

David Axelrod called him -- and Elmer Gantry.

It and it's just it's it's a poisonous.

Sort of campaign that that.

If you remember four years ago would it just unimaginable.

That get a campaign to president Ronald Lou ran last -- was so hopeful and optimistic.

And and now it's it's it's some totally different.

And and you have and it's all the way you know goes all the way up and down the campaign from from President Obama himself.

Is suggesting that Mitt Romney is some sort of it was it really Mitt Romney on stage it was it was some sort of you know stand in for him all the way down to it to so many of his his his staffer is a silly aren't.

Humans -- I mean people saw what they saw they know this was unscripted there was no teleprompter.

You know they saw apparently the real Mitt Romney on stage but they also saw the real Barack Obama on stage.

Yet John I think it's -- A totally counterproductive.

Argument because as you say not only did is it really not all that effective but it but it also sort of undermines your your own credibility.

When everyone.

That you -- bit President Obama saying that don't believe your eyes that wasn't really him and everybody's like -- wedeman and I actually -- see it and and I was actually surprised to see that Mitt Romney.

You know you know stepped in it and gave a very.

Convincing performance.

Why does the Romney campaign not fire back I mean talk about.

I don't know half truths or -- -- or -- you know you can go back to the president's promise that he would keep unemployment below 8% and lo and behold.

Well that sort of happened recently four years later.

Yeah I think that two to a large degree I think that the Romney campaign realizes that that.

President Obama's campaign they they they do look desperate right now and a lot of these attacks -- I don't think are effective and I think that they realize it and you know when somebody is doing something that is.

You know when -- what what when your opponent is doing something that is hurting himself.

You know you don't you don't need to step in the way in and out and stop that from happening you just kind of let him continue her hurting himself you know -- pointed out something interesting yesterday which was that Romney's.

-- -- during the -- seem to carry himself as a CEO who is making a presentation to a borders something -- a command of the facts and the figures and so forth.

Barack Obama he was more the lecturer of the college professor that he's always been.

Yeah it was really amazing -- to see that that that dynamic.

And you're right you -- Mitt Romney was not trying to be popular he was not trying to be.

You know Cooley wasn't trying to be a guy that you wanted to have a beer with at the bar or anything like that he was the adult in the room and he was very serious.

And it was a terrific performance if you're -- you know four years ago.

That was.

That was Barack Obama Barack Obama was that was not trying to be I mean he was he came off as sort of a rock star.

But he was sort of also the adult in the room he was talking about.

Changing Washington and changing politics which we were -- probing here you know we're all yeah let's change Washington Charlie hope hope and changes so 2000 day the thanks very much right in what is Charlie heard from the Washington.
