-- on top above one Mitt Romney on a roll and now -- -- -- -- have the keystone state.
On new polls showing enclosing a double digit gap now within two points of the president this is Pennsylvania.
-- Ronald Reagan was the last -- -- when there are many credit his debate performance but maybe credit.
It is we'll do this -- -- Republican Pennsylvania governor Tom Corbett.
Only one of -- governors to get a grade of day in a new Cato study for his tax reform policies which Kato described as real.
And credible and necessary.
-- -- governor joining me right now governor good to have you thank you for coming.
Thank you think -- -- you wanted Tom.
You know maybe you're measures are doing to -- governor there helping Mitt Romney of course it cuts both ways right -- people in your state feel better they might give the credit.
To the president on Corzine.
I'm sure you just want them to feel better and field.
There are lots improving regardless of who politically benefit but.
Do you think these polls are narrowing and what are they discover.
Well I think in regard to the polls here -- in Pennsylvania.
What I see are people that are starting to go back to work we're slowly.
You getting the economy moving in Pennsylvania.
We have growth going on in our energy sector in our Biotech sector.
We saved jobs -- -- Philadelphia with the refineries that we're gonna go out of business a year ago.
So I think there's a positive.
Feeling that it started in just starting.
As it goes to the polls I don't think that people of Pennsylvania are happy with where we've gone in the last four years.
I believe those -- are narrowing you know although I always tell everybody the only pole I look at as -- when it's going to be on November the sixth.
But it is much closer here in Pennsylvania and -- what I've seen other polls that have been in the national media in the last few days.
Why is that governor I particularly noticed your State's polls that day it really can have huge swings.
And outlook for the President Hu long are being up in one poll fifteen points and another twelve points -- another ten points.
But bottom line to get it essentially even now tells me.
Either a lot of independents are coming out of the woodwork -- a lot of the president's supporters are are are are switching sides what is.
Lot I think a lot of his supporters had voted for him for years ago.
Either are not going to vote to -- -- you're gonna stand on the sideline or going to switch over to Mitt Romney is in this election.
I -- going traveling across Pennsylvania I've talked a lot of people Democrats and independents and even Republicans.
Who last time event voted for President Obama.
Have said they're not voting for President Obama this time -- they believe we needed change in Washington as du -- But you know you you've proven at the state -- I'm not blowing you smoke governor but I'm always intrigued by what you've done because I tell a lot of people this can be done it's doable.
Simplified tax code.
Make it more friendly to business and individuals.
And he can do that I mean it's a tough.
You know -- what you can do it.
You can do it if you if you have the admitted the discipline and and the fiscal discipline for the state didn't.
And and I believe you can't spend more then you receiving revenues to the state.
We're not Washington we don't print money we don't continue to add to the dead in that respect we have to control or spending.
And the spending prior to -- -- here had increased from about 22 billion to almost 29 billion we've reduced by almost two billion.
Some of that money in the last budget before I took office.
Was based on the federal stimulus money that was one time money and it's gone.
If you stick to the discipline that you can only spend that which you have.
Then you have to make really tough decisions.
But it's interesting -- know I always ask area of people who want more money for various categories hidden in line items.
Well he wanted to raise taxes and their answer to that is always -- -- say you can't have it both ways and I believe I made a promise we were gonna race.
Taxes as governor.
And we're gonna live within our means the best way then to increase revenue into the general fund.
This to increase.
