Questions today whether the fallout from the attack in Ben Ghazi could be the difference in the presidential election according to new fox polls voters are listening.

Two thirds of voters find it troubling.

But the White House initially made false statements about the attack just 26% say it's not much of -- concern to them so what's the basis -- -- is a former -- -- President Clinton Monica Crowley is a radio talk show host both are Fox News contributors good morning to both of you and I think.

OK so let me just showed up Paul -- more time because 67% of respondents say that it is troubling these first initial -- -- -- reports that came out of the administration -- 6% say not much of the concerns of dog is this an issue in the presidential election.

It it's absolutely an issue when something is troubling it's not yet.

-- full voting issue but the bottom line as we go into the vice presidential.

Debate tonight in two presidential debates coming in the next two weeks.

This is a huge concern for the Obama White House make no mistake and they're going to try to keep it troubling concern.

Troubling not totally political not have -- dominate the election.

And Alison most of all not -- it take over the final days of the campaign in a way that could be calamitous for the present.

But lot of crime and do you agree we don't want people go into the voting -- you think that they're thinking about and -- or are they thinking about their jobs in their gas tanks.

Well obviously jobs in the economy are the most immediate and urgent issues facing every American however.

I think there are a lot of undecideds out there -- who were sitting on the fence disappointed Obama voters perhaps.

Or those who couldn't quite make up their mind but didn't quite want it or quit were quite ready to toss Obama out yet.

And what this -- out cover up and all of the lies in the deceit that we're hearing about now that are currently being exposed and I'm sure there are more truths to it to come.

Is that it could be a tipping point for these voters they might say you know.

I'm just not comfortable with this administration economically and now we're getting best this is a huge scandal there for dead Americans.

Including -- US ambassador who has the personal representative of the president of the United States.

So while Doug is right and I I think you are right that it it's not quite the defining issue yet it could serve as -- major tipping point for people to say.

You know what it's okay for me to vote for Mitt Romney is okay for me to go with the other guy Doug let me.

Sure in the next pleasure -- -- our poll asked of people on the same subject they asked visited the motivation behind those initial.

Misleading or -- -- reports and there.

Their largest.

Percentage of respondents 37% say that they believe it was to help.

The president's campaign 26% thought that they.

They made these reports for diplomatic reasons -- 3% thought that the errors were just a mistake at 14% are unsure so people's.

People's opinions are sort of all over the map -- That and that's exactly the point and if you're in the White House now is.

I was in the Clinton administration.

You want to keep it exactly that way you want to keep people confuse the top answer was it was done for politics.

But there's two thirds of the electorate that said it was some other reason.

The president just wants to get through the next 25 or 26 days without opinion hardening in the way that Monica was describing and bottom line.

Alison that's his challenge to avoid.

Opinion hardening leadership is becoming a criteria that's moving in the direction of Mitt Romney the president wants to avoid this scandal.

Moving that even further Monica's.

Of leadership are we focused on the wrong thing here are we focused too much on the muddled message -- was behind that and not on the fact that we were ill prepared.

And our consulate and what are we going to do now that there was a terrorist attack on our consulate right exactly so and I think most of the American voters are actually focused on that part of the equation rather than sort of the inside the beltway maneuvering going on in this administration.

Look I -- -- Obama's clearly cannot run on the economy so he's been trying to run on national security issues by claiming that we have all kind of back on its heels.

We now know that that is not true so now he's really in a box because.

I think a lot of people suspect.

That all of these lies and the deceit and and the cover up that's now emerging.

-- -- essentially political because this is the only thing that he can run on.

-- look it's always the cover of but it's never the original crime.

That gets these politicians into trouble when -- ever took President Nixon in the early 1990s and the Whitewater scandal was blowing up.

I remember President Nixon sets me.

Why did I go to -- -- fire if nobody is ever gonna learn from Watergate and my mistakes they never learn Alison it is the same pattern over and over again.

And this has the potential to be fatal to Barack Obama's reelection effort that's a great quote Monica thanks so much for sharing that with us from your experience -- President Nixon got shot Monica -- -- doesn't --
