We're -- to check in with one of our top house members who is keeping an eye on the events in Libya as they unfold and as we have hearings now on Capitol Hill as well.
Republic and it Ileana Ross -- congresswoman joins us now live with her reaction to what we've learned so far and what we still don't know.
A congressman thank you so much for joining us.
No thank you for the opportunity let me ask you first the house hearing on the hill this week a lot of heated moments -- what did you learn ultimately.
Bottom line from that hearing that she did know before.
What what we learned our it.
Exact time -- events and the tragedy that unfolded could've been up prevented.
And we learned was that this administration had each year.
Disregard for the consequences of that security lacks that resulted in the deaths of up for Americans including the first time.
That -- US ambassador had lost his life in such a terrorist attack in in in thirty years now what we've seen is this.
The the State Department regional security officer in Ben Ghazi twice.
-- requested a formal request for more security.
And what happened wolf that the -- as a lieutenant colonel clearly said in his testimony before the Government Reform Committee they were taken out of country.
And this in spite of the fact ambassador Stephen specifically requested that they be allowed to stay.
And this in spite of the fact that the International Red Cross building close -- -- Ghazi consulate had twice been attacked.
In spite of the fact that the consulate itself.
Had twice been attacked including IED attacks including one where -- -- hole was blown in -- in the entrance to the consulate big enough.
So that forty people could enter at one time in spite of the fact that they were repeated -- attacks terrorist attacks.
This administration stonewalled.
And out lied to the American people and kept saying it was this video a video that they themselves -- advertising more.
Bob bite -- keeping this blame on this incredible.
Idiotic.
-- video but they -- did not want to say.
This was a terrorist attack why.
Because the Obama administration was politicizing this terrorist al-Qaeda attack in order to score political points by saying we killed bin Laden.
Al-Qaeda no longer exists we have no terrorist attacks.
So if anyone is trying to politicize this problem it's been the Obama administration where they've done it from the from from the Rose Garden from the united nation as -- general assembly.
All the national TV shows in spite of the fact that the Libya president and all of the security personnel.
Including the intelligence community that president Vice President Biden wanted to blame.
Had been saying it was a -- and coordinated terrorist attack by al-Qaeda the only ones who did not want to accept that.
Was the Obama administration because it was an inconvenient truth for them.
Well and you mention the vice president no surprise that the issue of Libya would come up in the vice presidential debate this week we want to play a little bit of what vice president Joseph Biden had to -- We weren't told there would do what want more security do we did not know they want a more security yeah.
Congresswoman is it fair to say that the White House or that the vice president didn't know because essentially visa -- would have funneled through the State Department he's taken a lot of heat for that statement.
But is it fair.
Well now what we do not always this that the folks on the ground made two specific requests and this came out in the hearing.
To specific request for more security.
And the conclusion.
That they drew when they was rejected is that they thought well they're rejecting it.
Because it was a political decision they want it to appear as if everything was fine and dandy on the ground in spite of these repeated attacks.
Right there and then Ghazi.
And when they won though when the us State Department and the administration officials requested.
Additional security.
Four -- for Tripoli that was granted to them.
Yet they would they would did not grant any additional security.
To -- -- what all of these attacks are taking place.
Now maybe the vice president is trying to mince words and say.
He himself was not told and President Obama himself was not told just imagine if President Bush during his administration.
Tried to get away with that line that he did not know himself about these terrorist attacks.
At this is an administration that has not been playing.
-- with the American people has not been -- telling the truth.
And the timeline is clear.
That they were a deliberately misleading the American public because they don't want to face the fact that this was a terrorist attack.
Orchestrated by al-Qaeda and that vice president might try to mince words about whether he himself.
Knew about it and if he didn't.
My -- he better get that show up for those intelligence briefings and sold as so what would it would the president is that a playing one more round of golf.
Let's have them sit down for the intelligence briefing because every one.
In the intelligence intelligence community surely knew and the people on the ground and then Ghazi surely -- so at their best defense is that they themselves did not know it.
I think that's even more harmful let's get a commander in chief.
Who really understands and cares enough to know about what's going on with -- without men and women overseas.
Well as chair of the house foreign affairs committee we know that your work there and for others in the house is far from over -- of the senate will examine this as well.
Congresswoman Ileana Ross -- thank you for your time.
Thank you so much and we have a follow up letter based on this hearing to secretary of state -- Hillary Clinton.
Asking for detailed answers on the questions that were brought up and that hearing so thank you very much thank you won't make sure our viewers did -- look at that letter as well thank you so much.
