In the first two campaign debates that we've seen this season the moderator have taken some heat.
Veteran TV anchor Jim Lehrer was widely criticized for letting the candidates roll over him some said in the first presidential debate.
ABC's Martha Raddatz drawing -- higher marks for keeping a tighter lid on the vice presidential debate but some Republicans say she was too quick to cut off congressman Paul Ryan even erupted him.
Now both camps are complaining about Candy Crowley concerned that she will not follow the rules for the second presidential debate.
On CNN Crowley said quote once the table is kind of set by the town hall questioner.
There is then time for media say hey wait a second what about XYZ.
But both campaigns say that is counter to the debate commission's rules they agreed to which Reid quote.
In managing the two minute comment periods the moderator will not rephrase the question or open a new topic.
The moderator will not ask follow up questions or comment on either the questions asked by the audience -- the answers of the candidates during the debate.
Or otherwise -- mean in the debate except to acknowledge the questioners from the audience or enforce the time limits.
And -- candidate comments during the two minute response period.
Well this audience is to be made up of eighty supposedly uncommitted voters chosen by the Gallup organization.
They will submit their questions in advance and Crowley will decide who gets called off.
Jim Pinkerton is a contributing editor and writer for the American conservative magazine Alan Colmes is the host of the Alan Colmes radio show.
They are.
This looks pretty good for the Obama administration's point of view if you go to the media research center's website you can see that.
Katie Foley appears to have sort of orthodox beltway liberal views on gun control on the gender it happens on so.
I think things look pretty good for Obama just like to differ.
Governor by -- by president Biden last week with them -- All right Allan I'm laughing like Biden I think -- I didn't like Biden company.
Didn't they didn't think your time profiling if they show that Candy Crowley is likely Republican who worked for bill or something and and -- -- hear people complaining about that.
But you know to get and -- hitter try to could criticize her before.
The at the debate actually takes place to decide which the agreement which you mentioned John is between the two camps I'm not sure -- Candy Crowley sign on.
To that agreement so.
You know let's can we at least wait until it happens before we beat our -- -- of the moderator.
Or were deployed into the worth pointing out the Mark Halperin from time magazine is the one who put this out there he says that both both campaigns are concerned or upset coming out he plans to do her job -- -- I.
-- made it to me this is a case where it looked as though that that the bureaucrats who run a presidential campaign commission.
Made it made an agreement that they've asked candy -- if you want to do -- he said sure.
And then and then she -- and feel of -- as you make clear doesn't feel particularly bound.
By the agreement then they -- that looks to me looks like the Romney campaign might need to have a quick reconsideration hear what they're doing because I -- I smell.
Troubling perhaps it would also spell trouble on it is to get ahead of us the story here.
Those eighty undecided voters in New York State listen if you're looking for undecided voters.
You don't go to New York State which President Obama Kerry by 27 points in ninth into the I think you go to Ohio Jim in North Carolina are now that that's really undecided voters.
-- -- New York residents let me tell you upstate New York in downstate -- very very different.
They're all kinds of undecided voters and Long Island or -- is not a graduate of -- I grew up on Long Island is mostly Republican so.
Let's look at -- the -- Alan Alan I looked it up.
Obama Kerry both Nassau Suffolk County but NASA -- -- generally -- Republican and New York State has a lot to -- besides Long Island and New York.
I think he's read what -- it it's it's it is a blue state is you don't -- -- looking for undecided voters you go to undecided undecided purple states.
They're always there in and it's a funny how.
The conservative trying to game this debate reports even happen as -- to try to set expectations.
And set the rules and say they hear that here's what's gonna happen and and already get people in people's heads this notion that somehow it's not going to be favorable.
-- -- you -- the Media Research Center which always goes after liberals they see liberal media buys everywhere they see it in not in the air.
Well it was funny how it's funny how liberals are conservative not to worry is that liberals can spring ambush on what happens if you -- Daytona and did -- the year Barack Obama can't answer a follow up question if they're not capable of answering a question for Candy Crowley is not -- -- running back president.
As -- prove this in eruptions and so on the matter matter a lot more fuel delivery and Brad has let Biden stopover -- Ryan asbestos that's Biden and -- land around them and Romney -- -- -- Jim -- and that -- -- -- Delano -- letter -- just sat there and let the two people who are enrollees they have done it and -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- We're going to -- -- got a lot of what.
You guys come under I don't have to do -- -- -- -- -- your work through the debate the it's thanks very much Jim figures and Alan Colmes and we're gonna be watching tomorrow night thanks.
You account like Jim Lehrer yeah I just can't let them go to wind them up let them go and you know sometimes -- get the best results that way right that's right now we'll have our viewers admit that -- I can't even advance -- -- -- -- -- --
