There are also those who claim that our former -- would insure illegal -- This too is false.

-- -- -- -- the reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those were -- In 2009 congressman Joseph Wilson.

Took a lot of heat for that exchange were in which he challenge President Obama during the president's health care address to congress.

Publicly yelling you lie.

Mr.

Wilson later apologized for doing that and the president accepted his apology.

And then called publicly.

For -- more civilized discourse in this country.

Get to the point.

Every conversation.

About very important issues that matter of the American people.

Without vitriol without.

Name calling.

The assumption.

Of the worst about it.

Fast forward to today and what some are calling one of the most negative presidential campaigns in history.

And the Obama campaign is now hinting that the president is preparing to launch a new character attack tomorrow night.

When he faces off against governor Romney.

Joining me now.

The man called up for questioning the president's honesty congressman Joseph Wilson he represents the state -- South Carolina.

A district up there Robin sits on both the armed services in foreign affairs committees -- welcome back to the program.

We've been showing it on the you're going to be with you when insurance program for awhile but here's just a sampling of what we've seen from team Obama in the wake of that first presidential debate in Denver just watch -- sample.

Are you saying it governor Romney to -- anchor was just on like yeah I think -- was dishonest absolutely plenty of people pointed out.

What a liar Mitt Romney is and was last night and so if you just the way out.

I have to live their lives about your own plan as well as what the president has been talking about of course you can look good.

Do you think that they are applying a different standard.

Now to governor Romney -- that they demanded of you.

Absolutely -- and indeed.

My son -- identified -- I did it was a spontaneous.

Town hall moment.

What they're saying in this is the highest levels of the Obama campaign.

It took them three days to try to respond.

To the failure of the president's last.

Exhibit.

Of the issues for our country and and three days later they came back in and so -- not as spontaneous.

It really was a low blow but I'm confident the American people are gonna look at the positive message.

Governor Romney and he will be elected on your presence.

You know that that after you made your comments part of the reason that you were so criticized because you did that on the floor of the house to they have a defense to this liar liar liar theme.

Because they're not doing that on the floor of the US house.

Well and then indeed on the on the house floor was an appropriate that night.

I had a discussion -- Rahm Emanuel that we were discussing issues and that's what we've been doing.

But I truly I think it's inexcusable for the highest levels of plus.

Axelrod.

The statements that are being made in and this is being thought out it's not spontaneous and and it's just not true.

The American people truly do see.

That Mitt Romney has a positive plan to create jobs and our country.

It the Obama campaign it this is not the first time that they've gone to the place of questioning somebody's character I mean is obviously there's been evolving on their part that Mitt -- a -- can't be trusted.

They also earlier in this campaign suggested through the deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter that Mitt Romney could possibly be a -- -- that.

Either Mitt Romney threw his own words and his own signature.

When misrepresenting.

His position that they to the FCC when they felony.

The war he was misrepresenting.

His position that day to the American people to avoid -- responsibility.

For some of the topic -- didn't his investment.

A president -- did not you know dictate to any semi public discipline the Stephanie Cutter or apologize for those comments.

Do you think that there is a double standard here in the way that he he wants to be treated.

And the way he and those who serve him in and represented him treat others.

And and -- you're absolutely correct and in fact we also had Harry Reid.

On say that governor Romney -- not pay taxes.

I mean everything that they're stating our personal attacks which are not true.

And the good news is again I believe that the American people understand.

That to create jobs and our country to have a energy policy that works -- people do know they gasoline cost one dollar and 83 cents when the president came to office.

And I know that that does is those are talking boys I appreciate what you his -- -- -- -- not gonna get here I want to ask you finally whether you think that.

This will have a backlash did you was there -- backlash against you know four that breach of decorum for going to the personal place and do you think that there will be one.

To the to the president's team.

Well people focus that immediately without being threatened a promised.

I apologize one time for interrupting.

And so indeed I received over half a million letters from people across the United States supported.

And none the last election night percentage of victory went from 7% to 10%.

And on that's why don't even have an opponent today because the American people and the people of the second district of South Carolina.

No -- -- settlement they know that I'm passionate about issues.

That I I really want limiting government expanded freedom.

Interstate but I wonder if you think you hit you would have gotten that support if you had not apologize for your.

Remarks.

No I think it's it's very important as you say to apologize.

If horse town hall moment.

That these people are being very contrived.

And and I think it's gonna backfire on them because the American people know better they know the truth now.

Congressman Joseph Wilson thanks for being there.
