-- -- what to expect tonight's town hall format let's bring in -- poured out.
He's the dean of communications here great Hofstra University go privacy thank you thank you what do you think what do you make of this format as a the goal is to get the people as much information as possible does this format allow for that.
Well I think it is the different kinds of information that the people want to see some of it is factual information and some of it is more temperamental information judging.
The president's character that the challengers character.
How he -- -- other cases she will respond to.
This kind of interaction with actual ordinary citizens and and I guess there's and the notion that these questions will be more from the heart perhaps than a moderator questions so I think it is.
As your lead in suggested something where.
Where mr.
Romney has an opportunity.
To show that he can connect with the voters in a way that some people feel he's failed to do so far.
And we've seen in the past this kind of town hall -- can really have an effect as it did say in the 92 campaign.
Where the first George Bush George H.
W.
Bush had a bit of trouble connecting with the the questioners in -- town hall style and Bill Clinton was very successful -- connect.
He's his own people admitted that at the time and they did some adjusting for the next debate.
In this particular one the analysts on both sides of the of the political -- said this is a format with which the president is is very comfortable.
This is a format wins which traditionally Mitt Romney has not found a lot of comfort but whether he can get a game change out of that there is another matter entirely.
Yeah I think that's true and I also think that the the expectations him so much was written about the expectations game before the first debate obviously.
Of that that debate has changed everybody's expectations and so now that the threshold is higher for Romney.
Yeah he he did so well in the first debate.
Mr.
Obama pastor really really indicate.
You have some strength in this debate and it's interesting I think the town hall format and mr.
Romney was quite aggressive in the first debate president.
Obama has indicated he's gonna come out more aggressively in this debate.
The town hall format may not be a format that rewards aggression so much -- empathy that's it's that'd be interesting to see -- both candidates.
Work through that complicated equation.
In effect to that point rather than using the word aggressive they're now saying the word.
Energetic.
For the president I heard one well known democratic strategists.
Laughter that debate say it looked like he'd taken his enix.
So maybe if the case maybe tonight's the night for -- all I don't know maybe hit it and I think that drug test them.
-- very good to see progress officers and manager it's a great great experience for us sentiment that I know it is for your students are really -- absolutely thank you thank.
