Tell us a little bit about who you are -- came from and what -- It is all about -- arisen from a small town in southeastern New Mexico -- -- and -- New Mexico in -- -- moved along -- I don't think I've lived in -- the same company won a couple of years going -- -- -- -- they were kind of nomads.
Roaming around the country.
Got into playing guitar -- -- sixteen or seventeen years old then.
And kind of write more or less kind of folk -- -- -- -- acoustic guitar and Nancy and I got a band together and sort of plan.
More time more rock and rule you know influenced stuff and just an electric motor cars with kind of a folk song all right so it makes -- between so.
Come and go back and forth between the -- stuff with.
Electric guitars and -- -- -- down and think -- tennis this kind of singer songwriter stuff.
How old were you when you were discovered when you were signs we did that happen.
Oh gosh I mean.
I think we're playing gigs you know a lot of a lot of teenagers.
We see in clubs now and hand and back then -- -- -- -- -- plain -- and he's not an option for you.
It was interesting I kind of got into my head.
Accident you know no way I was living in Laredo Texas on the border of Mexico and Texas when I was about six innocent -- learn how to play the guitar.
And I learn how to play -- mariachi song has come a classical -- -- -- song and -- moved away shortly after that -- Louis on Monday for about a year yeah.
How discuss the second plane and I started making up my own songs and it is you know experiment and just him playing these things.
And I was also none of these rodeos with friends and it's -- area and I would just make up songs in the back tried going on the road and just kind of -- about the places we're going to run around and then it would.
At some point kind of spill over into a bar him out later that night and my friends and then we'll get tickets are playing that song you are you know right and -- -- forward.
And that's 38 gigs and -- like that and it would offer.
-- a couple of years this kind of -- that plan little bars and cafes and you know.
No road houses around the country.
And tell I've gotten -- with some folks -- lost highway records.
And got a couple records and out there and then.
Is society how exciting is that really never -- there.
I mean to go from plain -- -- plays golf clubs in Texas in the homes and you've got to deal.
On the you have to come up with these songs get him down and I understand that you are now on your are you in your fourth studio -- Yeah on the fourth and what does and they cannot last month I'm not a pretty picture don't want to make sure that people know what it looks like when you're looking forward on iTunes and and mountains stores is our people invited.

-- kind of this -- we travel a lot you know you can easily turn around the country and -- is they can kind of from.
Found in the country in the desert kind of area that we spent a lot of time in urban environments and and big cities all over the world and so it's a lot of songs -- your decision.
About some of the places that I've gone and experience to them and having people that I need along the way.
And so that covers kind of a mix between kind of a country in and the urban environment in this kind of places we go to him between and so.
That was kind of the idea for the the photo it's a picture -- around my house and it's.
Comment on the outskirts of Los Angeles -- state park and that's kind of where the city needs in the wilderness -- That beautiful country out there.
Eight you're kicking off the North American tour at Webster hall right here in New York City yet tonight and that happens tonight and have you played Webster -- -- -- Webster hall before it's critical event.
I haven't this is -- first time there -- so.
-- -- -- and then where do you go from New York once Philadelphia tomorrow.
And then we go to Boston and Toronto and a couple nights in Madison Wisconsin.
Sam and I think and then another show in Chicago before we -- to Europe in November.
What's your favorite part about hitting the road and in the -- road.
And I mean I don't know the degree of -- your your tour bus.
You know what you have on the road but if you think it can be very challenging can be a lot of fun what's your favorite part of being on the ground.
It's -- -- -- and I think more than anything you know I -- record these songs and make anomaly a band together and hit the road.
But you never really know what's gonna happen to get there now you know the response from an audience right yeah exactly that's who on -- -- -- and it's all brandy and it's this kind of here on out there and seeing what's gonna happen within years so it's a different environment.
You know from city to city and town to town.
The things that you see and experience in between.
That's really where a lot of the songs come from in the first place so -- it's about getting out there and just kind of discover and you know different things in life and learn as you go along and.
I was looking I was looking at the track listings of of this new record again we want to encourage you to check out tomorrow land that is now -- -- for broken legs western shore.
Flower bond -- -- -- and that's the videos on your -- and right alike got a lot hasn't feisty -- -- I was surprised I was pleasantly surprised I was watching the video today ads like this is cool and then we'll feisty yeah.
If I had 2000 all right I got to feel you're not writing escape or here you've got friends -- -- skateboarding videos masks on it's really cool.
-- songs really come about this it's the kind of moment down around me.

In Los Angeles -- hang around down around there's a lot of homeless kids on the streets and I've got a couple of friends -- Down there there's just kind of rough upbringing you know -- on their -- since they were really young and this.
Trying to come up through the system with all the stuff you know this kind of on their own with not -- any help at all and so it's really -- a song about those kids on the street.
You know kind of coming up -- the system on their own end.
I mean I was down -- hanging around there's skate around -- -- -- out -- environment where they grew up fast and they just kind of idea -- about having them.
And their environment they're doing what they do.
I'm sure every song is a favorite.
You being the artists that are there other standout tracks on here that if you if a fan was gonna go to.
Maybe I -- to a couple just get a flavor -- feel for who you are there are a couple of tracks on here that you want people to hear.
It's only gonna get a sample.
Together covers on there called never far behind -- I wrote about my parents on there there's.
I guess is -- -- song about my friends you know I'm down there and then as.
And then there's a couple of slower acoustic kind of balance on the TV to film and -- voluntary -- and enjoy.
Plan is okay and and you sent one of the quotes -- one of the papers on this is that went with this record he tried to take a step back and take more time you have.
On any other previous albums and what was that was it because in the beginning you were trying to you know get get those records out to the -- just signed to.
Why -- why did you take a step back did it take longer wouldn't let us.
My this is really the first of -- I had some time off in a long time since since.
You know before the cavaliers before us on the -- -- we're just I'm basically can't live and out of the suburban.
Around the country.
You know -- and we sign of the label on their record out and was even this more on the road so for about.
Six or seven years it is -- solid and we had a little break in between bills passing on the road and was the first -- at some.
Real time sitting here -- you know totally just to kind of -- wind down and kind of you know recharge the batteries and things like that.
And put down on my own record labels in my life accident and records we're just having us total and we weren't on -- -- really kind.
You know -- or anything like that we record the record a friend's house originally were on a budget for the recording studio honest strict you know so.
And it's had a little bit more freedom to kind of sit back within an experiment how -- within and nobody else's -- and I was on -- -- it was that was nice.

You know it was just kind of interesting.
I had a couple of records on -- highway and in turn around a bit -- You know.
I was home -- -- and I got a phone call from this stands -- to truth is the director in the film and he said -- -- -- held -- through the industry about this you know project I'm working on and how when and that -- Monday and he gave me a copy of the script and is coming a little bit about it the city's offense on the song and -- -- -- -- and that was kind of in you know -- is that where the film was gone.
Tennis lefty with a script and -- you know if you could come up with a song innocent in my way and another can opening wow how cool at perfect fit.
And it just happens that way I just kind of worked out yeah.
