Morning the US ambassador to Libya Cris Stevens has a full day of meetings ahead of them.

But since the eleventh anniversary of the al-Qaeda attacks he schedules all of them out of caution behind the perceived safety of the US mission walls -- Ben -- 7:30 PM Stevens takes his last meeting in the large residence building with a Turkish consul general it and after an hour.

At this point outside the main gate of the compound on the other side of the US mission Walt.

In this -- -- all is quiet but stirrings of any protests.

So on of the real help -- -- one fold in fact the ambassador decides to turn in for the night.

9 PM still no sign of any kind of spontaneous demonstration.

Inside the main residence is a different story attackers coming here and they ransacked the place.

And then they go for the locked -- they look inside it's dark they can't see anything.

They tried a lot they can't open it up inside agent Logan has got a gun trained on them ready to shoot if -- But as lieutenant colonel Andrew wood says the safe haven it's only safe for a short time.
