Fifteen days away from the election and some critics are saying that President Obama has -- to lay out a plan.
Any vision for a second term including this one.
The most startling thing that's happened here over the last month of this campaign is the president has completely given up on outlining any sort of agenda for the future I mean what's this plan.
For the next four years well John -- can answer that former governor of New Hampshire served as White House chief of staff under President Bush and his senior advisor to the Romney team.
He is ensconced down there in Boca Raton -- good morning to you and welcome back.
Morning -- how -- I'm doing great thank you for your time -- -- -- run through a number of things here OKB of our viewers about kind of a preview vote later tonight.
The conventional wisdom suggests that the president has the upper hand on foreign policy.
-- -- he is the sitting commander in chief do you agree with that.
Well I would agree with -- -- -- all his intelligence briefs and and spent the last four years paying attention to it.
But I guess we'll ride with conventional wisdom -- governor Romney's the underdog going in here.
But I'm sure he's gonna give a great before are you setting the bar lower for your guy.
I'm just going along with all the stuff that's been.
Passed around by the Obama campaign about how fantastic he isn't.
How they still think he walks on water in spite of the fact that they terrorism around the world is rampant again and the US has lost all its respect.
What many people are saying that governor Romney's biggest challenge is not necessarily the dissect all the positions of the president's.
And his policies of the last four years but to being more presidential.
To rise above it what is your feeling on that.
Well I think you'll see both I think you see governor Romney now express.
Deep understanding of the issues I think he'll put a policy forward.
That corresponds to where America wants to -- we recognize where superpower.
We need to be strong economically and we have to have a strong national security structure.
And and I think you'll see governor Romney contrasting that.
With the economic failures of the last four years.
The lack of an agenda for economic success in the future.
And the fact that the president wants the gut the defense budget and -- Mitt Romney wants to make sure we have the funds to keyed by defense brought you cannot.
Have a peaceful world without a strong US economically and on national supporters.
You know how big the audience would be tonight I think debate numbers three and 2000 they had about 62 million.
So we you know if you -- of that number here at least sixty million -- -- later tonight.
That is a baseball game going on a game seven which may take away from -- but that's about to decide.
It was reported that the Obama team wanted to have the foreign policy debate last.
And that was negotiated is that the case.
Was that -- I'm not.
I don't know that I I work awfully hard to stay ignorant bill it.
Can talk about what I care about -- -- and I want to like we only negotiate a logic would be that this would be his strongest hand for re election yet.
Yeah he thinks this is the president thinks this is as sweet spot they negotiated this when he was still trying to tell us.
That terrorism had been filed because he had just killed bin Laden.
At and the whole process that he thought he had the upper hand now the public knows what -- disaster.
Is foreign policy has been you know if you -- countries like Egypt.
Jordan you'll see that the lack of respect for the US -- than negative.
Perception of the US has gone up tremendously under this president and he thought he was gonna suite where sweet talk the Muslim world and the loving America well.
Last debate debate number two this question was asked who was -- who denied enhance security in Libya and why that was a question from a voter Nassau accounting.
New York does the campaign think that the governor blew that answer.
Well I think Candy Crowley jumping in there kinda knocked and knocked him off his pace.
And when the president deliberately lied about what happened in the Rose Garden I think he was shocked that the president would lie.
In front of seventy million people so it not come off a little bit I think -- now -- -- prepared for the fact.
That he he might get more dissembling from the president.
And that he always knows he's he's got to work a little bit against the moderator look that this this -- this administration has turned a foreign policy failure that disaster in Libya into a character issue.
All of a sudden the American public is seeing this administration.
Make up new stories almost on a daily basis.
Trying to cover things this administration is leaking -- selected snippets of intelligence that trying cover the president's but.
And then it -- both -- and denies that it's having talks with Iran.
You know they are finding this administration just can't be -- -- that's a reference sooner Ron -- -- broken Sunday morning in the new York times of back to this Libya issue here.
What was the strategy for going after it tonight and how how was the governor gonna make -- Perhaps the case that did this president was misleading because you know from the beginning what what what -- Romney team set a week ago.
-- that whether he blew the line or not it force the issue on did TV screen of every American across the country.
So then how does that play out tonight what's the strategy.
Well I'm not sure what he'll do but I'll tell you what I would do I would keep reminding America that this president went to the UN.
And said six times it was the video.
This president sent his his UN ambassador out I think they believe it he should just keep reminding the public.
That this president has never had a straight story on this.
The White House has never had -- straight story and we probably won't find out from months until the president's quote investigation.
Unquote is complete.
Well that is why we watch later tonight governor appreciate your time John Sununu -- there already there at Linn university at Boca Raton Florida.
The email was hammered foxnews.com.
Or on Twitter send me -- at Bill -- if you got a question about what's gonna go down later tonight.
We'll get to all of them throughout the day and probably pick up on it again tomorrow so big big big moment for America tonight on -- consortium and in the mean.
