In the final month of campaigning President Obama has been unleashing a slew of negative ads that some are calling.

-- Take a look.

Some it is broken down on big bird but he's gonna bring down the hammer on Sesame Street.

It makes perfect.

And ask for by.

A -- -- You mentioned the navy for example the we have fewer ships than we did in 1960.

Well governor we also have fewer horses and bailouts.

And the president's latest laugh line Romney Asia.

Seems like a far cry from the guy we saw -- running for president four years ago.

If you don't have any fresh ideas.

That you -- stale tactics to scare voters.

If you don't have a record there -- none.

You paying your opponent is someone people should run from.

You make a big election.

About small things.

Has Barack Obama turned into the candidate he campaigned against for years ago.

At the Washington -- can -- joins us from DC Matthew had -- Oh absolutely Steve I mean this is the guy who -- all hope and change.

In 2008 now he's become the candidate of fear and loathing all of his arguments are negative.

They're trying to disqualify Romney from the presidency.

And so far in these national polls at least it doesn't doesn't seem to be working Matthew what -- you refer to the president as the meaning golfer.

And well you know politicians talk about small ball right these are issues like say school uniforms -- the V chip.

But what Obama is doing right now doesn't even rise to the level of small ball it's -- mini golf.

It's you know nitpicking at Romney it's lecturing him about the navy about these submarines that we have in the navy is though Mitt Romney 65 years old hugely successful businessman former governor of Massachusetts doesn't notice submarine -- I mean that have a condescension.

For it's why Romney is actually viewed more favorably by the public at this point that Obama's and in fact at that first debate in Denver America got to see 72 million Americans got to see.

Barack Obama he would we you know we hadn't seen -- he'd always been likable and tell them and and then we -- Mitt Romney he was not the the evil corporate pirate that we saw.

That the other sites that 300 million dollars trying to portray him as and ultimately Matthew the president right now only has his face to count on right.

Now that's right I mean what the Obama campaign is focusing on is mobilizing.

Democratic voters they've lost the independence external cost the Republicans they're losing by twenty points among white voters.

So -- they need to do is turn out the democratic base and the way to do that they think is by scaring Democrats into what might happen.

If Romney is elected president that's why we see this distance it.

Constant belittling of Romney.

By the president and also this really desperate attack on the on the abortion issue should somehow saying that of Romney's gonna outlaw abortion which of course you can't do.

In the run up to the election and it's just about trying to scare them and ultimately perhaps they are turn and off the base.

And certainly people in the middle of the moderates as well -- Matthew -- and agents from BC's Matthew thank you very much.
