And so the American people now have to recognize that given the big challenges we have in the big election we have it's time for a big change.
And Paul -- and I represented a big change for America.
And.
Why is -- -- a Romney Republican nominee for president of these United States campaigning in Worthington Ohio.
The key state of course for his electoral ambitions.
And this is power play.
But governor Romney was -- -- -- there was big mess.
And he's going to try to keep the big miss going today.
As he campaigns -- swing state Iowa with a big address on the economy.
We will talk about that aggressive -- -- moments when it comes to the American electorate we will talk about do running campaign chances of flipping a blue state red we will talk about a president who's kind of -- He -- little who got out there and what that says about the state of the race and all that stuff we'll talk about how the fiscal cliff that looms ahead is actually.
Now really hurting the economy instead of potentially hurting the economy.
And what that means for the election.
And also we will have PowerPoint so it's a Good Friday for you lower case our case it's a Good Friday.
For -- Internet and it's about to get even better because I can tell you don't.
The John Roberts is out there in the either -- -- -- are you there.
I -- here Chris how are you on this lower case good product.
It's a great that would just -- with great Friday because that way you don't need to do any punctuation changes.
Is so we'll look.
So governor Romney today.
Is it -- as are you in Ames Iowa is this is this.
We we we are in capital letters God's country out here -- -- silent.
There's a heart.
-- -- country where you're running this so many -- nice people a big speech here the governor Ronnie is giving in just a little more than an hour from now I just hit wheels down here in Iowa.
Talking about the economy.
The deficit federal spending.
Of course he's going to go after President Obama for his policies but he's also -- to sort of avoca a reaganesque style of sunny optimism during this speech as he has been in the campaign trail this part of what he's going to say today -- say we face big challenges.
But we also have big opportunities if we seize the moment and rise to the occasion.
This century ahead will be an American century and you played a little bit of -- -- is leading in your program their Chris that he really has kind of co opted.
Part of our President Obama then candidate Obama's monster for the 2008 campaign.
About it changed and here's what is going to say today -- What this requires is change change from the course of the last four years it requires that we put aside the small and the petty read into that.
Big bird and some other things that the president's been talking about and demand the scale of change that we -- we need real change.
Big change it's -- governor Romney is saying over the last few days since their last debate that the Obama campaign is shrinking.
That he is is he pledged not to do in 2008 making a big election about small things cards.
Now Iowa is.
Colorado and Iowa and New Hampshire right now would look like the three most likely states.
Former president -- for governor Romney to flip.
And get to go from traditionally blue or blue leaders to read territory.
I think it is no coincidence that they're there in Iowa today good for the big speech.
No and you know that they're also looking at it -- Virginia and Florida -- -- the numbers are looking very favorable.
For governor Romney there but you know it looks -- like this is all coming down to Ohio.
Because if you take the -- and the places where you -- actually shows up in the polls it could be that you know governor Romney got Florida.
Got Virginia -- looks like he could get Colorado isn't as well but if you lost New Hampshire -- las Nevada.
Because the numbers do appear to be kind of going in the president's way it really is all about Ohio.
And that is to stay where they're focusing so much of their time governor Romney was there yesterday.
He is saying here today he's going back to Ohio later on today of course the president's -- an awful lot of time there as well so I think you go to sort of see it.
This will be the circuit for the next eleven days it'll be.
Iowa Ohio Florida Ohio Virginia Ohio.
New Hampshire Ohio Colorado Ohio Nevada Ohio Ohio.
-- is going to be the focus of this campaign in the next eleven days.
Round on both ends and I in the middle John thank you very much -- -- -- day go time out there are.
-- we take you now.
Internet from these outrage of the skunk river honestly in -- their home to Iowa State.
To let let's go to Harrisburg Pennsylvania now via Skype the Internet talking to the Internet.
And please meet Jim -- Internet he's the president of Susquehanna polling and research.
There in Harrisburg and -- the first and most important question.
Is this Susquehanna -- -- -- on.
-- -- -- And yeah the second.
Like Hannah Montana OK we -- good we got it right we will not fail in talking about that that storied river and its watershed.
So the year I want to quickly get the Internet to this your latest poll of Pennsylvania.
It shows that Romney winning Pennsylvania by four points is that possible.
Article even -- it it is it is the latest all it was an internal all -- -- -- -- Republican -- in -- -- Romney.
-- the lead in Pennsylvania and look at Chris.
The governor Romney is doing well in Pennsylvania because -- is -- the jobs are and all after all in the state.
Pennsylvanians foremost concern about jobs unlike Ohio.
Our unemployment rate is actually higher than the national average peaked at eight point 2% last week in among people -- that job as the number one issue and EA.
They're breaking for Romney by fifteen points.
I'm so prominent clearly this data is within her reach for the -- folks based on what we're seeing here.
I zealotry -- -- real clear politics average for the keystone state for the US commonwealth and it is president with -- four point 8% lead.
Now you'd -- the pole for the Republican Party but you're not a Republican -- percent right.
No we are Republican pollster and -- real.
We had a real clear average doesn't show Chris are the internal polls done not only by enough but I Trump's -- pollster.
Always -- challenger to senator Bob Casey -- so that real -- Roberts doesn't reflect some of the internal polling that's out there and really we should be looking at that real clear our -- so much the president sleep but you're real clear average hasn't it fifty point 0%.
-- maxed out.
Chris is maxed out clearly the last couple weeks -- -- anything we've seen undecided voters leaning more towards governor Romney.
Which is why we're seeing states like PA now on the map in terms that's states that are competitive I think for the governor.
So what about so as as this closes though as we get down to the end.
This is this is a movie that Republicans have been watching and it's kind of -- it's it's been a horror movie.
For Republicans since 1988 where each.
Time.
They get to the closing weeks and they say hey look Ohio that are that's maybe there's movement in the polls this could write a chance because I -- I.
President -- is not gonna get reelected if he loses Pennsylvania.
Isn't it.
Are you Lucy holding the football for Mitt Romney right now.
You know what I'm not -- -- and -- -- -- -- -- different from Iowa but that economically it's also different for that matter which went -- Obama by bigger margin in Pennsylvania.
When -- go back to order Pennsylvania only in this is really important for your listeners and and and watchers to follow.
Is look at how -- the vertigo.
Has really.
-- -- basically hung around for governor Romney not only nationally.
But in suburban collar counties around Philadelphia Chris we have governor Romney I.
With the president.
For the suburban collar -- that -- the CC -- -- Pennsylvania.
Is he working class Democrats on governor Romney by bigger margins than John McCain -- -- -- or -- stuff.
Now you look at -- suburban Philadelphia which looks on track it governor Romney.
Some very impressive margins there that's what's put Pennsylvania in play and I think a lot of pundits.
Better -- basically overlooked.
And the Pennsylvania.
Our bill and understand that we have an economic climate here is suffering more than the national -- Well we are not suffering for have you heard from you -- we thank you very much.
There -- as -- and not only in research we thank you for your time today.
You're very welcome -- -- that it would deal.
You -- okay Internet we've got to take it very quick break we have to collect ourselves after that -- excellence and prepare ourselves for the right excellence yet to come.
As we talk about the president being a little proved.
And -- where we are in the race four before again and what he's trying to do with his base in the strategy for the election you love that kind of stuff so -- And -- I know I gotta tell.
Even though I've been gone for about.
Third -- eight hours right.
Hello my voice is getting -- horse.
Go to spring in my step.
It.
And back is President Obama saying that he is giving his all he is pushing as hard as he can't as the campaign goes into its closing a lesbian.
Days -- and I can you believe it's only eleven days were almost done.
This is like this has been like passing gallstones for the nation.
And -- -- almost done we're almost there.
-- president wants his supporters now that he's tired.
He's worked very hard.
38 hours he has a lot of great -- he talks about this stuff a lot he want you to know that he's proved that being president.
It's not -- I'm not a lot of fun.
So what about that what does that say about the race what does that say about whatever.
And whatever indeed.
Christiane Ramos.
Who is indeed a policy I think that the new democratic network.
Which is we'd like to point out here is a center left organization that is -- to -- -- to bring together moderate Democrats as a moderate Republicans if they'd like to.
To advance sort of clintonian policy points.
And Ford O'Connell he's the chairman of the -- -- -- -- is unabashedly -- -- game except the game nothing but he had nothing but he's he's in it to win it Basra and forties and veteran the John McCain campaign and a lot of stuff he's from Texas and he doesn't Wear -- with the suits OK so that's -- all of those things -- drive it accurately describe it -- -- yes.
So -- so question is this and I wrote about this today in -- Great article and whether it oh -- tourism.
I.
Don't ever get guys as your opportunity to upgrade me.
VI.
-- you follow me Twitter -- you should that's his dialogue with the bride and I today Obama tries to slice and -- his way to a -- win.
And what the president is doing because -- was in Chicago yesterday.
He voted early he went and talked to the folks at the phone bank.
And there was a fascinating piece in the New York Times today where the campaign let people live and let the New York Times and -- it we're grinding it out.
-- -- gonna -- find out a ruling a victory and I thought.
That's sounds awful that sounds like a terrible thing where's the where's the lift where's the joy where's the fun of campaigning -- John listen I want out of public service announcements to the Internet today and there is no -- -- -- -- -- I don't feel like total.
Here now and I went into.
Now I -- the grinding out yes the -- I think this is a grinding -- here's the reality.
We -- is losing Ohio Nevada New Hampshire Wisconsin and Iowa she is really close in Colorado Virginia Florida.
And Arizona on the throw that into the mix at this point it is absolutely about the grand game it is about the early vote yes 6030 advantage for Obama in the early vote at the end of the day.
This is no mistake football.
This is going out there fired up and ready to go and this is winning this election and I think that -- Here's what happened.
The Obama campaign thought they could win this election would -- hit and its strategy.
Is dog -- -- killer he's no I don't I.
You -- You -- go well changes -- -- about October 3 that's 1812 but not -- 4 PM eastern time when Mitt Romney took the stage he took control the -- by saying I'm principal put practical I have a plan for the future and guess what they execute their plan I want to work across party lines.
And once that -- the hole hit -- strategy hit the -- -- -- -- now because you guys now are -- vote early and putting on a twenty page plan for the future.
I -- she -- talk about.
Here's a here's here's a reality here.
Mitt Romney's plan has no details to that you wanted to go -- -- -- yeah.
Well -- yeah.
It's the night before you give me that we stipulate that both campaigns in both candidates are short on detail.
We look at this night this is just the -- -- that there politicians in the -- let's talk about -- -- -- for a second time.
Gas prices are down blockbuster and I bet he brought -- five point four million jobs over 31 months over the past -- housing market is.
Bouncing right back -- the US economy is growing army translator -- years down the volume down -- -- first time in nearly five -- great American sitting there are better off financially than -- -- -- you haven't found a record you can even now -- forced to talk about the future for directors -- -- the worst part was in the second debate Mitt Romney did a better job -- why he's not too -- -- always runs and you guys -- did I think we're playing a white guy isn't right.
Out a way to port for work but the others and the Internet does not like we've we've -- average of the Internet like this -- with the Internet wants -- -- From fair minded patriotic individuals such as yourselves.
When we look at the president's strategy to go back.
To say we're going to disqualify Romney and then turn -- close with a positive argument that the the new Obama strategy was very clearly.
Wiped out this guy is barely leave and leave him so that he can't close the gap.
Right and then turn and be positive at the end.
And that -- but we saw we started to see happen about the time of the debate and Romney did well and then they had to continue going down the path.
With more negativity is that not -- Know quite a little that's subtle -- At the end of the day the Obama administration.
Has clearly contrast to their plan on the economy invest in the middle class -- biased CNET.
You know building our middle class -- job.
Growers and people like that in in the manufacturing is on as -- -- Mitt Romney's plan has always been.
Let's invest in the super rich and let's hope for trickle down economics.
Failed.
Bush you'll win you'll only had a listens and yes you only have one -- that was disqualify Romney.
When Romney took the stage in Denver in if he -- in this election it will be because of his performance in Denver and once people saw that Romney now the one that you -- -- -- it is you know -- -- Wrong for America.
Mitt Romney made -- a whole new game now the question -- I do agree with you it's going to come down -- -- -- -- most likely gonna come down to Ohio.
And then whether or not Mitt Romney can win one obviously which will be either Colorado or Iowa and right now we're leaving early -- Colorado.
And not only that the gap in the early voting in Iowa which was slightly ahead isn't far down.
You know I know you guys run for ligaments in Ohio.
Barack Obama is up 53000 early votes in Iowa he's at 63000.
For the early vote this president has -- the vision for America which grows the middle class which invests in working class Americans everything.
Mitt Romney wants to give tax cuts to these super rich and hopes you are running scared and George Bush.
That this somehow you know helps the economy it didn't work for George Bush or not gonna work.
Yeah Mitt Romney took control of the senate they're running scared and let me tell you -- and if he wins Ohio plus Colorado and I want -- -- Iowa.
-- -- expressed in our state.
Or even New Hampshire well written and he's losing you know great season losing 48 little -- -- -- floor or had a lot of looting is an energetic guys guys that close.
That's what I meant was -- -- it and then argue more but gentlemen happy Friday thank you so much for being the -- wants to know by the way do you Wear socks as the weather gets colder as you approach -- colder months you have to.
And he's not where that comes out.
-- now.
This is just chopping it out on -- consistent he's just consistent he's toughening it out with a bare -- -- guys we thank you very my point four million jobs.
Good couple on the run and the fact that I don't have a great -- had a great weekend -- was when we come back.
We're going to talk about the fiscal cliff and how it as real time.
I'm consequences for the election not just in the abstract the into the -- out as real time consequences.
Where the election because it has real -- consequences for the economy we'll talk about that when we come back with the congressman from Texas -- stick around.
First of all this questioners.
Not something that I propose something the congress has proposed it -- -- happen.
-- that Internet that was President Obama in the third presidential debate October 22.
Talking about the -- -- which is the Washington.
Made up term.
To describe what happens -- is.
The members of congress and the president couldn't get together behind plan.
To deal with oh I don't know -- how we fund the government.
And entitlements and all the dead and all those things -- something you may remember.
This is power play.
And welcome back.
So here's the news today and this is what's interest and is that.
This fiscal cliff and this is when we have a fiscal -- remember we're talking about the expiration of the bush tax cuts or the current tax rates.
Would would expire for everybody we also have out there these cuts these automatic cuts to social programs and the military.
They're not really cuts they're actually reductions in scheduled increases in spending its budget complicated Washington.
Gobbledygook but.
The truth is is that for a lot of businesses.
Across the country this and ending gridlock this impending freeze.
Has been very worried.
So let us talk now.
Via Skype.
To bill for -- he's a congressman from the great state of Texas.
Congressman how we -- it.
I'm doing great press about your card you are like night.
Man it is it is very good to have you especially because it is probably warmer in Texas that is here is very get a little little chilly out here so we appreciate you bringing you -- lone star state warmth.
Now as a result.
This we see the reporting out today in the Washington Post it's been elsewhere.
And from the National Association of Manufacturers.
Is that.
This fiscal cliff that was precipitated by the failure to reach a deal.
On raising the debt ceiling essentially.
Is now.
Set -- to.
It's actually costing the economy jobs right now in real time because of anxiety over.
And that's exactly what I'm sort -- interrupt us -- you.
Well I agree with you -- and the uncertainty this -- coming out of Washington for the last several years.
It is directly responsible for.
That the slow growth or no growth we've had this economy and now -- -- on.
Additional it -- and again coming out of Washington.
Of course or you have obamacare this CBO says that's gonna cost later thousand jobs good middle class American jobs.
I was sequester could cost us up to two point one million jobs.
-- particularly over the inside -- and then lastly the president's proposed tax increases.
Could cost another 700 plus thousand jobs.
Well so that's the question is -- That's not helping the president right now he wants economic growth.
He wants that to be happening so the consequence of this deal that he proposed a jetBlue proposed.
Is that.
That you guys agreed to.
Is that he -- that he -- harm the economy for the deal manifest that -- the economy at the moment that he needs to be doing better.
Exactly and and added the other night he says it.
He didn't proposed it which is why he directly proposed it in the second ways that it wouldn't happen -- I'd like to double what is playing -- -- and articles because.
He just block everything we've done in my house to try to find a place you.
A replacement sequester -- -- common sense spending cuts to address other government programs.
They don't know they -- me whatsoever.
So the question then is.
Win this election is over and whomever wins however the house stands -- you guys have that a very large majority a smaller majority.
The expectation is that Republicans will hold the house.
And but whatever happens ever gets elected.
In that.
Five weeks or so that you're gonna have before the end of the year can something be done can something be done about this.
Well certainly something -- needs to be done now that the ability to get something down is going to depend on the willingness of Harry Reid and President Obama.
During that lame duck session.
So look get it to kick out of -- census.
And look it be appropriate solutions that Al sort of asked what what what I submit -- -- about watched today particular house where it was like it is.
It just -- himself and GM.
-- several odd job creators got elected to the house and we know people like me that no first hand.
What it takes to make an investment and and a new employer you're -- -- plant or to expand her business.
In an area of course it doesn't get -- the president doesn't get -- they blame and his big government trickled down programs.
They just empower bureaucrats to contain distraught -- are probably.
-- Internet if you were from College Station or Waco or dare I even say Crawford.
You've known by now but if you don't there is congressman bill Flores thank you bill.
We don't yet have a -- day.
I -- of that so.
There are things that you know that are out there for -- their things Friday night -- there's a weekend ahead of you know that sooner than that is on the hunt with Jonathan Hunt.
Which you love your crazy about that I know for a fact you tell me on the sophomore Jonathan Hunt.
So you've got -- that look forward to but before you do that just couple more things from media one being very close to the election.
There's a lot of excitement and we hope you'll stay with us and stay watching because we are having a lot of fun we're gonna have a lot of exciting special things for you.
In the next eleven days that I know you're going to -- way.
So there's that.
There's also some power points.
Our points today old news.
Old news is this this election is old news for a lot of -- -- It would have been deemed here's your first -- it would have been deemed cruel and unusual punishment by the nation's founders.
To think.
That decent.
Hard working ordinary Americans would be submitted subjected to would essentially been.
An eighteen month election cycle this has been going on for ever and ever and ever.
And it will Wear you out.
So here's the second PowerPoint here's.
The biggest problem with that is the tone has been cautious and repetitive.
Especially.
From the president's campaign but certainly from Mitt Romney.
You have heard.
A lot of the same things.
Over and over and over again they're so repetitive because they are cautious because they're afraid of throwing big stuff and doing big stuff out there so that's.
What makes it's a group cruel and unusual so here's.
Point three what's new.
What is new and that's the question that voters are asking because while they certainly seem willing to give the president a chance.
Even though they weren't crazy about all of his policies and want to know what's new and where the president the -- president's having so -- trouble today and the reason that he's behind in the polls and the reason that his reelection is in such jeopardy.
-- that.
People want to know what's -- they don't want to know what's old so.
That's the deal those are some power points for you today we hope you have a fantastic fantastic week.
And now.
We like to do every day we want to leave you with the word from our -- -- Us and he's -- his strategic decision.
To abandon the advantage of being the income and having the presidential air.
By using that kind of language by going on the soft the venues by.
Giving ridiculous speeches about Romney's -- this is a man who gave one of the great political speeches in American history eight years ago and he's talking about -- -- And you -- real battle this most stuff.
