Need everybody obviously very big news weekend we are so close to the election -- -- talking a lot about politics but our top story.

Is what's going to happen along the East Coast were following set -- -- of discretion -- destruction after being downgraded briefly.

To a tropical storm this morning sandy has now we gained.

Hurricane strength with a reported 75 mile per hour winds being felt up to 100 miles from the storms.

Epicenter and cities are ready -- into the Caribbean killing 43 people there take a look at some the damage this storm.

His cause look at Nassau the Bahamas.

It's pulled away Neville -- is now its sights are set.

On the East Coast of the United States McCartney has been tracking sandy this morning and he brings us the latest Iraq as it does have a little bit more time to strengthen in that tropical status of warm the waters are very warm here along the gulf stream -- back from five degrees.

Higher than they typically would be this ten years so water's warm enough for to strengthen in that sense.

But the -- strengthening its gonna do is from that kind of a different process it's gonna go through.

And it will strengthen rapidly -- remember we have Hurricane Irene and it was a weakening storm this -- be -- strengthening storm as it makes landfall and that's gonna have very big.

Impact and very different impacts rain right now across -- coastline wind Europe's around forty miles an hour at this point we'll see.

I kind of the same thing you saw in Florida with some eroding beaches and certainly some rough surf but the track.

Becomes very uninteresting and it's gonna curve back here towards the west eventually make a landfall looks like somewhere around Jersey may be up towards Long Island.

The impacts are are getting in a sense be the same for many.

Because it'll be such a big -- -- the wind is going to be big for everybody the rain is going to be a big impact.

We'll see a lot of power outages from all the downed trees and a lot of coastal erosion and then inland flooding.

However wherever it does make landfall there is still going to be a storm surge scenario going on and right now the current thinking.

If it makes landfall somewhere here around central Jersey -- south Jersey.

Potentially kind of a worst case scenario for areas.

Like New York City and Long Island if you're on the right side of where the center of it crosses.

There is going to be some very significant storm surge and the way the land is here you see that kind of L -- The water will come in here and it doesn't have any place to escape.

In addition to that you have a while a lot of water coming down the Long Island Sound -- -- get an eight to ten foot storm surge.

Coming down -- -- and it gets into this narrow space and doesn't have anyplace to go except down the East River which is on the east side of Manhattan but at the same time.

-- water coming in here in towards Manhattan harbor also being pushed up.

So water doesn't have any place to go and that's what areas of Manhattan.

And some of the outer boroughs have potential for some very significant storm surge flooding that we did see evacuations it happened.

Last year during Hurricane Irene.

I think it's very likely that we'll see that happening again in Manhattan impossible subway systems I think it flooded that sort of thing right interest in New York City area.

But for a lot of people we're gonna have major coastal flooding.

Big problems across the area beaches from Jersey to Maine but certainly Jersey.

And Long Island four to eight inches of rain widespread ten inches plus for some diplomats and because -- -- and flooding.

But because we're gonna winds around 48 hours very very high but at least -- -- -- Patrice so that leaves or be a lot of trees down a lot of power outages.

And when -- a lot of power outages it takes a long time to get all those people back in -- having power guys I think some -- that -- --
