Fox News battleground polls are showing the race just as closed and some key battleground states like we've been talking about Ohio.
For example Romney has pulled within three points of the president.
And that has both candidates making a major push for those undecided voters and women in particular.
Joining us now with his thoughts on all this former Clinton pollster and author of his latest book here come the black helicopters -- -- -- great to see you thank you so much for joining us today.
It -- to be your -- you know I noticed something interesting in that report from the Obama's speech.
That he's now using the -- -- operation.
Against Romney the history of that was that the Obama's staff people wanted to use it.
But according to the New York Times story Clinton former President Clinton my old boss.
I said now don't it won't work you've got to hit him on being too conservative.
And they followed his advice and now they seem to be backtracking.
And trying to use the flip flop -- -- again.
It's a very symptomatic of the Obama campaign's lack of a message.
That he or nine days before the election -- ten days before they're changing their negative message on Romney.
Having spent seven months talking about other staff.
Well as you for an hour just -- -- in ten days away we've seen the polls really tighten up and as I understand it when it comes to these swing states though most observers.
Are thinking you can't win without Ohio but I am I understanding you don't feel everything hinges on that -- why.
Yet -- the race's closest everybody's saying it is.
The undecided vote always goes against the incumbent and this is significantly less propensity of the Obama people to vote than the Romney people to vote just in terms of the motivation.
But I believe that you start off with a 179.
Electoral votes that McCain in states that McCain want.
And then you -- Indiana and North Carolina which we're just margin on Obama states and usually Republican.
That brings you have to work for 2204.
Then you have Florida Colorado.
Where the polls that I've seen all show Romney ahead by any reasonable margins three to six points.
I think we have those three states that's 51 votes that brings -- up to 355.
Now he needs to seventy to win so we needs fifteen extra votes that's not going to be hard to do.
-- eight states with a combination of nineteen electoral votes.
Better in the middle and in all of those states there within one or two points of each other.
I'm New Hampshire where contrary to the real clear politics average.
The most recent polling -- the good polling.
Insurers around me about two or three ahead.
Pennsylvania which is twenty votes where it shows Romney about three ahead Ohio eighteen they are tied with constant and they're tied.
Michigan fifteen they're tied.
Minnesota sixteen grub obamas and by three Nevada nine Obama's ahead by two and IOS six -- tied.
-- can win at least fifteen votes from those states and probably more like 45 or fifty.
So I think Romney is on track -- pretty significant victory I think when we look back at this will wonder why we always thought it was so close.
Let me ask you -- so when it comes to women voters Romney has closed the gap particularly after his debate performance of President Obama.
We will tell you the economy is among their top concerns right now what impact do you think that yesterday's -- -- slight rise in the GDP by 2% and the final unemployment report is gonna come out next Friday.
Before the election could it have.
An impact if it shows improvement as well.
Well first well 2.0 percent growth rate is nothing to celebrate.
It's an anemic terrible growth rate it's borderline recession.
And I do expect the job numbers to -- -- huge improvement and Friday.
It's called the BLS.
But you could just drop the L critical for the -- the of that.
Pre election data that's coming out.
I don't think that's gonna have any impact it's -- question what he believed the statistics.
My speeches or -- or not.
And I think it's very clear and I think -- more importantly Romney has opened up almost two to one edge in who would be the best candidate to handle the economy.
So I don't think Obama's going to be able to gain was.
OK also in foreign policy.
You know we -- hearing a lot about the revelations that have been coming out this week about that tragic.
-- -- attack we know that CIA operative request for help were denied during the attack do you think this investigation.
We'll have any impact on those still undecided voters at this point.
Yeah I I think it will to some extent because he doesn't look very good in this.
But I think the more important effect is to kind of freeze the action inked between -- and -- the hurricane and Libya.
It really drowns everything else that.
And for a president that is in my judgment clearly losing right now.
The worst thing you can have is ten days are being drowned out.
And out of that seems to me what's likely to happen at this point got a standing dominating the headlines over the next several days and these battalions to some extent Libya Libya as well as I mean what's obvious unless he adds yet -- -- in the.
What's obvious from Libya is that Hillary.
Cut back from the security and they didn't reinforced.
But the reason they didn't is because the president wanted a minimal security presence in the Arab world.
So they didn't -- American troops around every corner and they weren't upset.
Indeed we didn't upset them and then when the attack happened.
Obama went out for two weeks and lied about it.
-- he said it was a popular demonstration gone bad and that was all about a movie.
And now he's saying -- we have to investigate what happened when it's obvious what happened you have videotapes you have.
Live witness testimonies.
And he's saying this investigation is so complicated.
I don't know -- may not be finished until after.
After Election Day.
That's obviously cover and I think the American people get it and I think anyone who looks -- it should get it.
When you compare what happened with the Valerie Plame affair.
Where people were accused of leaking the name of the CIA agent when nobody died nothing bad happened that it turned out no crime was committed.
-- this where an ambassador was killed three of the men were killed.
Our consulate which destroyed our territory violated.
And this is the worst thing that's happened George since the hostage crisis in chairman Andy -- in terms of our embassy.
And you have the president going to the United Nations and.
I'll bring it up.
-- it's always great to have you on board that was your insights we really appreciate -- -- -- you're gonna be watching these events closely over the next ten days then and we thank you so much for joining us today.
And also what -- mention -- thank you and.
